Chapter 7

Penulis: The Musician
Kevin, Shae, and all the others had been dealt with, but Harvey, the instigator, was the only one who got away. He sure knew how to make a quick escape. Most importantly, no one noticed where he'd gone.

He was the only one left before this matter could be completely settled.

"It's fine. I'll find him myself."

Exhaling, I wiped the blood off my head. Seeing this, Isabelle swiftly pulled out a handkerchief for me, her eyes filled with open concern.

"Are you sure?" Luca was startled.

"Yeah."

I pressed the handkerchief to my head, the blood quickly soaking through. "I already said I'd get even myself, but I ended up getting you involved anyway. You've already been a huge help to me. If I can't even deal with him myself, I'd really be useless trash."

Luca nodded. "Alright. It's not that dangerous now anyway. But we should at least set a time limit, yeah? Your brother told me to help you. I can't just do nothing and let the one behind everything get away."

After thinking about it, I said, "Give me a week."

It was mainly because I was worried that Harvey would go into hiding, and it'd take me some time to find him. "You can go back now. I'll be fine alone."

I had my pride, too!

I'd already experienced two setbacks. If I couldn't prove myself this time, I would really be the useless trash Callum said I was.

This time—the third time—had to be a success. There was no room for any error!

"Alright. A week it is! If you fail to get back at him by then, I'll get involved. Anyway, I really do have something to attend to, so I'll get going now. Call me if you need anything," Luca said.

It was clear he knew where I was coming from, so he didn't insist on anything. I nodded and said earnestly, "Okay. I'll call you once I deal with Harvey."

Once I got my revenge, I would not only look for Luca but Callum as well.

"Sure." I'd texted Luca earlier, so he got his phone out and saved my number.

Recalling something, I asked, "By the way, what about that guy, Bernard Doberman, the one they call Mr. Hound? Will he be giving any trouble?"

"Hah! Even if there's trouble, it'll be coming my way. You don't need to worry about it. It's something between him and me," Luca said with a smirk, clearly unbothered by Bernard.

"Alright, then!" I nodded.

"I'm going now. Be careful, yeah?"

Luca was just as cool as ever, coming and going alone, like a hero who'd saved the day but faded into the crowd without taking credit.

Isabelle and I were now alone on the hilltop.

"Hey, thanks for what you did just now, but you shouldn't be so reckless next time. Those guys were all bigger than you. And I can't believe you actually hit Daryl. He could easily send you flying with a single slap, you know?" I couldn't resist chiding her, though I kept my tone soft.

It'd be extremely ungrateful of me if I raised my voice at her now.

Isabelle bowed her head and said nothing.

"Let's head back," I said.

"L-Let's take you to the hospital…"

At last, Isabelle raised her head. Her face was as red as a tomato. She was probably the only college student who'd be this shy with someone she'd known for years now. Yet, she was still able to muster up the courage to follow me. I truly didn't know whether she was a bold or timid person anymore.

"It's fine. I can handle a few scrapes like these," I said before heading down the hill.

Unfortunately for me, my head refused to be as strong as I was. I'd only taken a few steps when I started feeling light-headed and stumbling a little.

Isabelle caught up to me in time to take my arm, saying, "I still think we should take you to the hospital!"

I wanted to refuse, but my dizziness was getting worse. I could barely stay on my feet, and Isabelle noticed this. After a brief hesitation, she seemed to have made up her mind. She gritted her teeth and slung my arm over her shoulder, supporting at least half my weight as we walked down the hill.

She could still walk briskly and steadily.

"You look pretty slim, but you're quite strong!" I remarked in surprise.

"Of course. I-I'm a tough person!" Isabelle said, her head lowered and her cheeks pink.

Our bodies were pressed together. I caught a faint scent and couldn't resist saying, "You smell pretty good. Is that perfume?"

Turning even redder, Isabelle mumbled, "No… It's just my natural body scent…"

At the hospital, Isabelle scampered around, helping me register at the emergency room and handling all the paperwork. As I sat on a chair waiting for my turn, my heart warmed at the sight of her busily getting things sorted out for me.

Isabelle was a great person.

The doctor did a simple procedure that left me with my head completely bandaged. Once we walked out of the hospital, I was just about to say something when Isabelle spoke up first, as if she feared hearing what I had to say.

"I'm leaving. Take care of yourself, and remember to be careful!" she said in a rush before running off.

She even bumped into a middle-aged man by accident and said a flurry of apologies to him before hurrying off again.

"She's pretty cute," I couldn't resist remarking to myself as I watched her disappear among the traffic and the other pedestrians.

I got my phone out and called my dorm mate, Hansel White, asking him to help me get Harvey's class schedule.

Although I'd said that the other guys in the dorm were all "good kids", that didn't mean they weren't skilled in their own ways. Hansel was a whiz when it came to gathering information—well, mainly gossip. If I ever needed to find out about something or someone, all I had to do was go to him for help.

Hansel soon sent me Harvey's class schedule.

Harvey had an afternoon class in a lecture hall. A quick glance told me Shae was in that class too. Back when I was still simping for her, I'd memorized her schedule by heart. I would make sure to bring her milkshakes, hot dogs, chips, and other snacks for class, which she happily enjoyed every time.

This worked out just fine for me. I would knock out Harvey right in front of Shae, finally putting an end to this ridiculous love triangle.

I didn't head back to the campus for lunch. I just grabbed a quick bite outside. Then, when it was already ten minutes into class, I hurried over to the lecture hall for Harvey's class, armed with my power twister.

The university administration didn't really keep the students strictly in check. Fights broke out all the time. As long as they didn't get too severe, even if the administration looked into it, there would only be some minor consequences. Therefore, I didn't have anything to fear.

Most importantly, Harvey had humiliated me right outside the dorm yesterday. This time, I was going to make sure he suffered the same pain and humiliation in public, too!

I kicked open the door to the lecture hall, the loud bang drawing the attention of everyone inside, including the lecturer.

For a moment, I felt a little rueful. I'd done something similar before, but Daryl had always been there with me. This time, I was alone.

Nevertheless, I made sure to carry myself with the right amount of intimidation.

Pulling out the power twister, I demanded, "Where's Harvey?"

I started scanning the lecture hall, my gaze ferocious.

There were over a hundred students in the lecture hall. It wouldn't be easy for me to locate a single person among the crowd, but that wasn't an issue. Everyone else would help me.

Usually, when people were gathered in a crowd like that, if someone's name was called out, everyone would swiftly turn toward that person. All I had to do was track their gazes, and I'd find my target.

It worked every time!

"What are you doing? Get out!" the lecturer snapped at me.

However, I ignored him and took a step forward. Before the lecturer could stop me, I needed to find Harvey, get the job done, and make my exit.

"Elliott! Have you lost your mind?"

Over in the corner, the furious Shae shot up from her seat.

Kevin's men thought I hadn't reached the back gate yet and headed back toward the campus center to look for me, so I was relatively safe in my hiding spot.As I stood behind that tree less than 20 yards from the back gate, I watched the two security guards while pulling out my phone to call Hansel."How are you?" he asked the second the call connected.I heard Greg ask whether it was me. I even heard Fred chime in with a sigh. "When you care about someone, your heart's already in chaos."The guys in my dorm weren't the fighting type, but their concern for me was absolutely real."I'm fine for now, but I need your help, Hansel. Mr. Leed, the chief of campus security—is what you told me about him last time for real?" I quickly asked. I couldn't afford to waste any time. Who knew when those thugs would circle back?"Well, you've come to the right guy!" Hansel immediately perked up at the chance to gossip. "Mr. Leed is a total ladies' man and a piece of work. He's done plenty of shad

"S-Stop…" Isabelle lowered her head, her face as red as the fiery clouds at sunset."Why should I? I've wanted to say this for ages! You treat him so well. You're like a mother hen fussing over her chick! Yet he never gives you the time of day. Isn't that ridiculous?"I'm going to let it all out now. I've been holding this in for years, and my chest is about to burst with frustration!" Pansy got more and more worked up, even standing to try and grab my collar."Fine, fine. I'll treat her better from now on… But you need to move right now. I need to borrow your window!" I ducked around her and sprinted toward the windowsill.Hiding here wasn't a long-term solution, and those guys on my tail had seen me come in when they rounded the corner. Smashing a dorm door was nothing to them."You think you can run? You're not getting away today without giving Belle a proper promise! Everyone in our dorm is brimming with frustration and anger because of you. You're not leaving until you help u

Hearing the rapid footsteps behind me, I couldn't help but speed up, rushing through the corridor of the female dorm.I'd never been in the building before, but the layout was basically the same as the male side, so it wasn't like I was unfamiliar with the environment.Plus, as far as I knew, the senior female students were also on the first floor. Maybe I would run into someone from my class who could help!I wove quickly through the first-floor hallway. Seniors didn't have many classes anymore, so there were still quite a few people around. Someone stepped out of the washroom with toiletries, someone yawned with a curling stick still twisted into her hair, and someone in cute, pink pajamas wandered around, visiting friends…No matter who, each person who saw me had the same look and reaction."Ahh!""There's a man in the dorm!""Pervert! A pervert got in!"The female dorm plunged into chaos. There were screams everywhere as the women bolted for their rooms and slammed their d

Did Buzz and Kevin know each other?I was stunned for a second when Buzz started chuckling. "Just noticed me? Too late!"He held up his cleaning agent and spritzed it a few times. A white mist bloomed out like scattered confetti, spreading in all directions. The guys who were about to rush us screamed, clutching their eyes and stumbling back. A couple of them even started tearing up."What the hell are you doing, Buzz?" Kevin yelled from the back."Mr. Wolfe sent me. Got it?" Buzz laughed, then shoved my shoulder. "Move!"Only then did it hit me that this cleaning-agent salesman was the guy Luca had sent to watch my back! But just him? Was that it?There was no time to think. I scrambled up onto the windowsill, shoved the window open, and slipped out in one quick motion.Buzz climbed out right after me."Get them! Go!" Kevin's furious shout came from inside the dorm, and a bunch of guys clambered onto the windowsill, reaching for us."Back off!" Buzz spun around and sprayed

Seeing this, my hand instinctively slid under the pillow and gripped the power twister I usually used to work out. I scanned the room and plotted my angles, trying to figure out how to launch a surprise move and get out of this hellscape.Taking Kevin and his men head-on was definitely a no-go—I wasn't capable of fighting them alone.I glanced toward the door and saw a few more people standing outside. It was exactly the same setup as last time! Was the window my only shot?I looked at the windowsill. Our dorm was on the first floor, so getting out that way would be easy. Before long, Kevin and his crew stood before me, and the air crackled with tension. Greg and Hansel were too scared to move. Meanwhile, Fred was still parked by the window, spaced out and staring at the scenery."We meet again, Elliott." Kevin's jaw was wrapped in a cast and sealed up. The menace was there, but his muffled speech took the edge off his swagger."What do you want?" My fist tightened around the pow

Before long, I remembered Bernard, the guy nicknamed Mr. Hound. He'd said that if Luca didn't show up soon, he would come after me.I could mess with Harvey, but I definitely couldn't mess with him. Then again, Luca had said he would send someone to protect me. Who would it be?After washing up, the few of us went back to the dorm. Fred was still sitting by the window in a daze. We all kept quiet, afraid of setting off his copywriter brain and getting another round of poetic one-liners.As seniors, we didn't have many classes. We sat on our beds doing our own things. Greg was tweaking his résumé—he'd already been rejected by several companies, and if possible, he wished he could add everything from being the elementary school class rep to the middle school assignment collector to the university dorm head.Hansel was gaming. His family was pretty comfortable, so he wasn't too worried about making a living.I was mindlessly scrolling through my social media, seeing if there were any
