Charlie supported Candice as they both sat down.

Beatrice and Denny sat diagonally across from them, while Marlene and Ollie casually found seats.

The butler had the servants bring some tea and snacks, setting them down.

"Miss Hale, I was in such a rush yesterday and didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye. I’m really sorry for my rudeness," Beatrice said with some apology, though there was a slight awkwardness in her expression.

"It’s fine."

Candice simply replied with three words, a gentle smile on her face.

She thought it over and then closed her eyes. She slept through the night. When she woke up in the morning and went to the bathroom, she sat on the toilet and noticed that her sanitary pad was still completely clean. It hasn’t arrived yet?Candice blanked out for a moment. After a while, she tore off the sanitary pad and replaced it with a panty liner. Her period was usually quite punctual, though sometimes it came a little early or a little late. But it was rarely more than a day or two late.So she would need to keep an eye on it for the next couple of days. For breakfast, Jim made her red bean porridge and brown sugar buns."To nourish your blood.""…Thank you."Candice glanced silently at Charlie. Candice smiled, but there was a genuine warmth to it this time. The second young miss sure knows how to talk.No one dislikes hearing compliments."Second young miss, you’re beautiful and sweet-tongued. I like you too, but relationships aren’t built solely on mutual liking. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out, and if it doesn’t, I don’t want to force it. I won’t let myself suffer, nor will I make others unhappy."Her words were soft and sincere, but also… quite pessimistic.Though she spoke about liking, she was really referring to her relationship with Charlie.Everyone at the table fell into silence.Beatrice didn’t expect the girl to think so clearly. She had always assumed Candice would try everything to keep her son, even going as far as forcing him to take responsibility. But in fact, this girl, just as she had seen at the ball, was intelligent, clear-headed, and sincere. "Don’t always get upset.""I clearly heard what Sophia said just now. She said, 'Is it possible that she’s going to be bullied by his mom again?'" Margaret said, clearly upset. "This is obvious! Candice is being targeted by Charlie’s mother!""This girl just won’t listen. After suffering with the Jackson family, now she’s going to endure with the Clemens family!"Margaret felt heartbroken for her daughter, and couldn’t help but start nagging.Robert replied, "It’s not that she wants to suffer, it’s just that she’s met new circumstances. Unfortunatel

Candice kept a cold expression on her face. She was doing her best to suppress her anger, not wanting to let a person who didn’t matter to her upset her. That was his grandmother, not hers. Why should she let an impolite old lady, whom she had just met, ruin her mood?"We’ll talk in the car."Charlie rubbed her shoulder and led her into the car.Rex glanced at the rearview mirror and silently started the engine. He reached over and pulled down the partition. The car started heading to the Clemens family estate.Inside the car, Candice sat silently, looking out the window, saying nothing.Charlie’s phone rang.He glanced at it, hung up, and turned off the phone. They drove for about ten minutes."Candice, can we talk now?" Charlie glanced at the message. He smiled with his eyes relaxed, “It’s Marlene’s. Looks like your future mother-in-law has come to her senses.”Candice ignored the “future mother-in-law” comment. She took back her phone and said, “Don’t be so happy yet. Just because she invited me for dinner doesn’t mean she’s come to her senses. Maybe she wants to negotiate with me.”As she spoke, she bit her lip and muttered to herself, “Maybe she’ll offer me some money to leave her son. How much do you think she’ll give?”Charlie: “……”He stood up and lightly tapped her forehead. “Between money and me, you prefer money, huh?”Candice gave him a “don’t be ridiculous, who could compare to money?” expression, as if he was out of his mind. Then, she smiled shyly and poked his chest with one finger, &ld
