Reya's POV
I had no way to tell how much time had passed since they locked me in this room. I wondered what kind of room it was and tried to think how I never noticed a room like this the two years
I spent in the pack house.
It was a room like no other. There were no windows, just a door which locked from outside. The walls were bare and there was a single bed in the corner. The only difference with a prison was that it didn’t have a big bathroom inside.
Days blurred altogether and soon, I could hardly tell how long I had spent locked up in this place and being treated like a prisoner. From what I calculated, it could be two weeks, but maybe longer.
I was going insane. Maybe I was already insane.
I wanted to know why Lycan Tristan ordered for them to lock me up for so long. What did I do? I racked my brain, trying to think of something I may have done to warrant this kind of punishment but I could think of nothing.
I stiffened as I heard the door being unlocked from outside. Jumping from the bed, I stood to my full height, wiping off my tear-stricken face with the back of my hand as Myra slipped into the room.
Her eyes shot daggers at me. I knew Myra never liked me, from the first day I set foot in the pack house, but I never imagined her hatred for me ran this deep.
“What is this about?” I queried. “Let me out of here please. Let me see Lycan Tristan and ask him why he’s locking me up.”
“That won’t be necessary.” She growled, reminding me that we were not best friends. “Our Lycan doesn’t want you and I personally think it’s for the best. We don’t want a weak, pathetic and wolfless werewolf as Luna.”
Her words took me aback but I wasn’t surprised. I knew from the very beginning that Lycan Tristan never wanted me, but to think he already announced to everyone that I didn’t have a wolf?
Was that how much he hated me?
She asked, shaking her head before throwing a stack of papers to my feet, along with a pen.
I frowned, glancing down at the papers. “What is this?” I bent down to pick up the papers, my frown deepening when I saw what was written in bold tile on the front page.
UNION ANNULMENT AGREEMENT!
My jaw fell to my chin. “What is this?” I knew what it meant but I was having trouble understanding and believing it. The union annulment was like divorce papers.
It meant the Council had given their permission for Lycan Tristan to annul our union even if we were fated mates. But…why?
My heart was shattered to a million pieces. “What is this… this I stuttered as tears rolled down my cheek, staining the papers in my hands?
“How can this be for me?” I cried, but Myra cut me off with an impatient glare.
“Can you please sign the damn papers and stop pretending that you never saw this coming? You’re even more pathetic than I thought.”
I shook my head, my mind still not wanting to believe what I was seeing even though it staring me right in the face. I thought of my dear father. Even if he was an alcoholic, he was still my father and his survival depended on this union.
He was the only reason why I put up with so much.
How could this –
“Sign the fucking papers, Reya!” Myra hissed at me.
“No!” I hissed back, surprising both Myra and myself with the venom and authority in my voice. “I won’t sign this. And I demand to see my mate!” I said, riding on the wave of confidence fueled by adrenaline which now filled me.
Who knew I had it in me?
Myra stared at me like I had grown two heads before she finally burst out laughing as if I just said a funny joke. “Who are you to demand things from our Lycan? Who the hell do you think you are not to sign the papers when you can clearly see our Lycan’s signature on it? The nerve. He ordered that you sign them –”
“I’m his mate,” I cut her off. “That is who I am, Myra. His fated mate and I demand to see him this instant because I sure as hell won’t sign these fucking papers otherwise.”
Whether it was awe or anger in Myra’s eyes, I couldn’t tell but I soon sensed that she was talking to someone through the mind link that everyone in the pack shared except me.
Although it was not surprising that they excluded me in something as important as this because they never saw me as a member of their pack, it still hurt.
“The Alpha will see you in his office.” She announced, pulling me from my thoughts. She looked at me like I was worse than the dirt under her feet.
Turning around, she knocked on the door to signal that she was done here and we both waited as the door was unlocked from outside. Once the door was turned open, she turned to look at me, huffing as she led the way to Lycan Tristan’s office.
However, the biggest shock of my life awaited me when I stepped into Lycan Tristan’s office for the first time in my life only to catch him right in the middle of eating another woman’s face!
Yes, he was kissing another woman passionately – when he has never pecked me before. Despite being mated to and married to him for two years.
My already shattered heart evaporated and I was nothing but an empty mess of tears and snot. Myra took one glance at the scene and smirked at me with an evil glint in her eyes before excusing herself.
She knew about this? She knew Lycan Tristan already had another woman in the side. Did everyone know? Was I the only one left in the dark?
My lips trembled and my entire body shook and my already puffy eyes were filled with hot tears once again. This man never kissed me before, and – and – yet he was kissing her so passionately.
He was so lost in the kiss that he couldn’t even tell that his mate was standing right in his office and her heart was shattering to pieces. I was frozen t the spot for what felt like eternity and when I finally snapped out of my head, the kiss had already ended and two pair of eyes were staring at me with indignation.
My eyes stayed on the woman’s face. She wasn’t someone I had seen before and if I had known a woman as beautiful and flawless as her was the love of his life, I wouldn’t have bothered accepting to become his mate and Luna.
The woman was filled with an outwardly kind of beauty and effortless grace which showed in the way she fluidly rose to her feet. Pink stained her cheek, but it made her even more beautiful.
Now I understood why Lycan Tristan never loved or liked me. I mean who would when my competition was a perfect barbie doll?
No, I wasn’t even her competition. I was nothing.
“Tris, baby,” she called with a voice that was so melodious, if it had a taste, it would be honey. “Who is this?”
Reya’s POV"It’s spreading like wildfire," Lydia muttered, her fingers twitching at the hilt of her dagger. "Three packs have already sent envoys to confirm the rumors."Rumors. Lies wrapped in truth, bleeding into every crevice of our world. The Luna who lived. The traitor. The ghost. My wolf whimpered, recoiled, then howled in a pitch I’d never heard before. The world spun. My lungs shrank to half their size. My bones trembled as if lightning danced inside them."Get the healer! Reya's POV. As the sun set below the horizon, tension in air was felt, and long shadows cast across the Lycan Kingdom.... The storm cloud was like a heavy raindrop on our faces, and I could feel the weight of it against Riverdale's very being. The council of King Xander was called out, and I found myself standing beside him, my heart racing. Each of the kingdom's most influential leaders was seated in the room, shouldering the responsibility for all future decisions. Xander's voice echoed through the chamber, "Riverdale has gone beyond their limits," and his words were spoken. We need to be ready for war."The room was filled with murmurs of agreement, but I could sense the tingling emotion of fear. War was never a simple choice, and the consequences would be far-reaching. With a determined look, Xander turned to me and said, "I want you to lead our troops.". Your bravery and determination have earned you a spot on this team, as I trust you to be the right one. "His words caught
Reya’s POV"You haven't given me your answer," Xander said, voice low, the weight of the Lycan king pressing into each syllable.I didn't flinch. Not this time. Not when my blood still burned from the offer.Become his Luna.I stared past the cold windows of his war chamber. Below, the pack trained under moonlight, blades clashing like thunder. It should’ve calmed me. But every inhale felt like a war."I don’t belong to anyone," I said.He stepped closer. "It’s not about belonging. It’s about surviving. You, your twins, this pack. All of it hinges on the strength behind you.""You mean you.""Yes."I turned to him. "You want a soldier or a queen?""A weapon," he said without shame. "One that rules beside me. They fear you. I want them to kneel."My laugh was hollow. "And if I say no?"Xander smiled, slow and dangerous. "Then I keep protecting you anyway. But I won't pretend I don't want more."Before I could answer, the war doors flew open. A scent hit me like wildfire.Tristan.He st
Reya's POV. The crowd in the grand hall was filled with eagerness. With a blank stare, I watched as Xander approached the dais. His presence was imposing, every move imperceptible, each action commanding. All eyes were on him as the crowd ceased to move. Xander began, "I am not your monarch, but a guardian of righteousness and truth."Murmurs rippled through the assembly. Holding my fists, I sensed the storm was approaching. "Rules and whispers have been circulating that are intended to diminish Luna Reya's honor," Xander stated....". Any criticism of her character is a challenge to the crown's legitimacy."Gasps echoed. My heart pounded. The argument was not solely defensive, but also a declaration of loyalty. My gaze remained fixed on the ground as I advanced. We shook off each other before reaching Xander's eyes. We were a strong community, one formed through fire and hardship.' As Tristan rose from the darkness, his voice whispered: "What do all of you know?". People who exhi
Tristan’s POVThe moment her scent hit me, it was like fire in my lungs—wild jasmine and smoke. Reya. She stood on the training grounds like she owned the earth beneath her.
