The beach was Richard’s sanctuary-where he would go to unburden his mind and this time, the load was heavy. The salt-kissed air, the crashing of the waves, the tiny grains of white, they all seemed to wash his worries away. He stood barefoot in the sand, letting the cold foam lick his ankles as his thoughts drifted him far away.

Pamela.

Her name echoed in his mind like a prayer. At first, she had been nothing more than a distraction, a way to satisfy his cravings, a grave to bury the emptiness of his marriage beneath rough hands and muffled moans-just a simple fucktoy. But that last time- the way she’d trembled beneath him, the way her lips had tasted like surrender..and something sweeter-it had unraveled him.

He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “what the hell is happening to me?”

Love? No. That word felt too fragile for the storm inside him. But it was something. Something that made his chest ache when he thought of her walking away, something that made his fingers l

“Well…em…, dad, he’s a busy man and probably wont make it. He has lots of papers to grade.” Pamela said, hoping her dad would call off the idea.“Tell him it wont take more than an hour. Tell him there’ll be wine…lots of wine. I heard college profs like to drink wine.” He chuckled. “Also, your mum’s making your favorite-pot roast.”The mention of her mother’s cooking sent another pang of guilt through her. “Tell her I’ll bring desert,” she managed, forcing a smile. Her father smiled at her, and then he was gone, the door clicking shut behind him.Sophia exhaled loudly, collapsing into the couch. “Holy shit! Holy fucking shit!” she cursed. “what the fuck , Pam. Why didn’t you tell me your dad was visiting?”“’cause I didn’t know he was.” Pamela replied, collapsing into the couch with Sophia. “He didn’t call, or text. I was just coming back from Richards, the next thing I know, I see my dad standing right at the door step.”“And I called you a little minx.” Sophia groaned, covering her

The walk home was a blur as Pamela’s body still hummed with the aftershocks of everything that had happened in the library, but her mind was elsewhere-tangled in the words Richard had spoken.“It’s over.”The way his voice had cracked when he said it, the way his hands had trembled as he held her. He had tried to push her away, but his body had betrayed himShe wiped her lips with the back of her hand, as if she could still taste him. The way he had looked at her-like she was something he couldn’t bear to lose-it made her chest ache.“She’ll ruin you.”The warning echoed in her skull. Just how dangerous was Eleanor-enough to scare Richard? She wasn’t just a scorned wife; she was storm waiting to break. And Pamela was standing in the open, unprotected. He fingers tightened around the strap of her bag as she turned the corner onto her street. The sun had begun its descent, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, but the beauty of it was lot on her. All she could think about was Ric

Richard’s body reacted before his mind could catch up-he was on his feet in an instant, crossing the room with almost superhuman speed. His hands gripped her waist, pulling her against him, and then his mouth crashed into hers, hot and desperate. She melted into him, her fingers tangling in his soft hair, her lips parting with a soft whimper. For a moment, there was nothing but the taste of her, the way her body fit against his like she was made for him. Then reality crashed back in.Richard tore himself away, “We can’t do this.”Pamela blinked up at him, her lips still swollen from his kiss. “What?”He stepped back, running a hand through his hair. “It’s over, Pamela. We have to stop.”She shook her head, confusion and fear flickering in her eyes. “No-I don’t understand!”“My wife hired a private investigator,” he said, voice low. “Magnus Ranch. I know him. He’s good. Too good. It won’t be long before she finds out about you, about us.”Pamela’s breath hitched. “So what? She can’t-“

  • Total Surrender    Chapter 10

Pamela traced the topics that all the questions had been gotten from. She and Sophia studied them intensively with Sophia occasionally pointing out that if she had to study another topic about a talking animal, she would drop dead. Time flew very fast, and before they knew it, the day of the exam had arrived. Pamela and Sophia were seated in the same hall but few seats apart. They had studied only the topics Pamela had drafted out from the questions Richard gave her. Pamela was frightened.“what if somehow Richard was wrong? What if they had changed the questions over the weekend? All these questions were racing through her mind as she sat down quietly. If they changed the questions, she’d probably be alright, but Sophia might fail the course, and that troubled Pamela the most.As the exam papers were being shared, Pamela could feel her heart pounding. With sweaty hands, she collected the papers. The examiners voiced echoed across the room, “Your oral literature exam is scheduled t

Pamela stared at the paper in her hands, her heart pounding. The questions were clear, and intact. She looked up to Richard, her lips parting in surprise.“but Daddy,” she whispered, “I wasn’t expecting this.”Richard smirked, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. His touch was softer now, almost tender. “study them well,” he commanded, his voice soft and low. “Every single question.”Pamela nodded, still shocked by what she had seen. She then folded the paper carefully and slipped it into her bag.As she turned to leave, Richard caught her wrist, pulling her back. His lips crashed onto hers in a searing kiss-hot, possessive, but with something new. Something deeper. She melted in to him, her both palms in contact with his bare chest, her body arching closer as if trying to erase the space between them. The kiss wasn’t like the others. It wasn’t just heat. It was everything-slow and deep, his mouth moving over hers like a confession. His finger tangled her hair, not to c
