Amara POV

I’m walking aimlessly, auto pilot taking control and as the only place I know outside of the alpha

house grounds is main street in town, that’s where my body takes me.

I don’t become aware of my location until a lorry honks its horn at me for walking in the middle

of the road. The driver curses at me and raises his fist in anger. He was right, I should be more

careful, especially as I do not have a wolf to heal me like the rest.

Jumping back, I crash into somebody on the sidewalk, my hands gripping onto them for self-

balance but to also prevent them from falling over.

I do a double take, the female I am holding up is like looking in a mirror, she was the me from a

few days ago. The Amara in the torn dress, run ragged from endless errands to the point of

exhaustion.

Same dark circles, same gaunt looking complexion.

“I’m sorry miss…” I offer out, looking around me for someone who must be her parent.

“Don’t bother…no one else does….” She mutters under her breath b

  • Traded to the Wolf King   Chapter 31 - Her passion

Erik POV “Thank you, Finn.” I reach forward, picking up her plate, serving her food. I was sat at the head of the table, Nina on my other side, Amara’s setting adjacent to her. Estrid was usually sat to my left, but Nina made it very clear she should be by my side. “Are you always this dramatic Amara?” Nina smirks out, her eyes watching for my reaction to her words. “Pardon me?” Amara coldly responds to Nina. “This dramatic, do you come from a large family. Is that what it is…you needed to create drama to gain attention?” Nina clicks her tongue disapprovingly, placing the wine glass down only to refill it. “On the contrary….” Amara face shifts, coldness being replaced as she plasters on a beaming smile, her demeanour reeking of sarcasm. “…I prefer not to be seen.” “I think, sadly, that might be the most honest thing you have said to me. What do you think Erik?” Nina quirks an eyebrow, placing her glass down and reaching out to clasp my hand which is place

  • Traded to the Wolf King   Chapter 30 - Hypnotised

Erik POV Amara has been locked away in her room for the past three days. No one has seen her, not even Greta. She’s somehow barricaded herself in, refusing even to entertain my cousin. If I wasn’t mated to her, I would let her starve to death…if it wouldn’t be affecting my wolf, I would let her rot away. Another meal, another noticeable missing spot at the table. Estrid and Finn still aren’t speaking, Greta speaks enough for all of us, and Nina makes little digs on either how I run the pack or how I am behaving since Amara has disappeared. Estrid keeps telling me the pack members are walking on eggshells around me, expecting me to blow my top at any moment; they were absolutely right. That’s how much Amara’s actions have angered me, how the regret at placing my hands on her has been infecting my daily thoughts…my dreams…festering away at me non-stop. “Still playing offended I see…” Nina mutters out under her breath as she places the wine glass to her lips. Sipping back sl

  • Traded to the Wolf King   Chapter 29 - Burning hatred

Amara POV “Finn?” Estrid growls out to her mate, her eyes just as furious as her brother’s. “I followed her here.” My eyes are able to move even if the rest of me is frozen under Erik’s aura, they flicker to Finn…I send him a pleading look to not say anything, to fight that urge to submit. “And?” The Snow Mountain Alpha takes a calculated step forward. I can see the change in his beta, see the pressure applied for him to share what he knows…the problem is, what the beta knows has the potential to wipe out the entire camp behind me and it will be all my fault. “They were going to burn her with a hot iron rod…I yanked them off her.” Finn’s neck submits as he gives into his alpha. “Who? Who dared to touch her…” Fury explodes in his eye as he gazes upon the crowd. “They didn’t know who I am…it was my fault. I found a child in the streets; I came here on my own accord. They didn’t know who I was…” I try to defend them. “Does the mark on your neck not speak for itse

  • Traded to the Wolf King   Chapter 28 - No fight or flight mode

Amara POV“We need to leave!” Finn impatiently grunts out behind me. He refused to leave the small tent Ihad entered to help a young mother and her young child.“Not yet.” I seethe back to him; we still had time…besides this little one needed help.“Something is wrong, Alpha knows you are here.” He checks outside the tent again, the coldmountain wind starting to pick up. My fingers were like ice…I couldn’t feel them, and to makematters worse my nails were starting to turn blue…but I couldn’t leave this child with a fever.“You told him?” My voice sounding higher than I anticipated. So, what if the alpha knows I amhere…these were still his lands, these were still his people. He can’t ignore them, he can’tpretend they don’t exist.I can’t…I am them.“He is the alpha Amara, and I am his beta, I cannot lie to him.”He was right, I should know…I couldn’t keep things from my father, and his aura was no wherenear as powerful as Erik’s.“I’m nearly done…” I promise out to him. I know he

Erik POV Against my better judgement, I let her leave. Not because I want her too, but I can see it in her eyes…the hidden plea to be alone. “Finn?” I push on the pack bond to my beta, Finn’s mind link already open. “Alpha?” “Amara has left the alpha house; I need you to follow her.” “I’m in training at the moment.” His voice hits me back immediately. “She’s alone.” I put emphasis on the alone part, I wasn’t asking him, I was ordering him to follow her. “Right, of course Alpha.” “Keep her away from the alpha house for a while, Nina and Alpha Augustus are both here. She hasn’t eaten either yet.” “Leave it to me.” Fucked off is an understatement, I am furious with both Nina and Augustus. Who the fuck do they think they are… I storm out of my office, back into the dining room where I find the pair of them whispering secretly away. They both look up at me, startled as I find them both plotting at my dining table, as if they already owned it. I leave no room for error, t
