Chapter 2

Rebirth in Spring
I didn't expect Ava to suddenly lunge over and try to yank Daisy out of my arms. Daisy had just calmed down, but the scare made her whole body jolt. She squeezed her eyes shut and started wailing.

Ava didn't care at all and just kept yanking at her with brute force. She screamed, "Get down already! Your dad doesn't want you anymore. Why are you still clinging to him?"

I frowned at Ava and snapped, "What the hell is wrong with you, Ava? Can't you see Daisy is crying?"

She shot me a vicious glare. "I put my life on the line bringing Daisy into this world. Why should she stay with you?"

With that, she ignored Daisy's cries of pain and gave her another hard tug. Afraid that she would hurt Daisy, I had no choice but to loosen my grip.

Ava jabbed a finger hard against Daisy's forehead, scolding her nonstop. "Your dad doesn't want you anymore. Why are you still sticking to him like a leech?"

Hearing that, Daisy cried even harder, her body shaking as she sobbed. My heart ached at the sight, and I hurried to comfort her.

But before I could say anything, Neal cut in, "Enough of this, Jordan. Just focus on your life with Ava. Break things off with that other woman."

I turned my head in shock, staring at Neal in disbelief. He knew perfectly well I hadn't cheated, yet he still wanted to slander me. I knew exactly what he was up to, though.

The neighbors who were lapping up the drama gasped when they heard him.

"So he really did cheat. Men only behave if you nail them to the wall, huh?"

"No wonder he doesn't even want a wife this pretty. Some homewrecker out there has him completely bewitched."

Ava completely lost it. She started swinging at me, her slaps landing wherever they could. "I can't believe you actually cheated on me, Jordan! How could you do this to me? Who is that woman? Tell me who she is right now!"

Her angry shouts grated on my nerves, filling me with frustration. On normal days, my life was just the gym and home. I didn't go anywhere else. No one knew that better than Ava, yet the second Neal said a few loaded words, she believed him without hesitation.

In the past, I would've rushed to explain myself, terrified she would misunderstand. But now that I'd already decided to divorce her, I didn't care what she thought of me anymore.

When I stayed silent, Ava turned her anger on Daisy. "You're your daddy's little girl, aren't you? Go on, ask him about this other mother he got you!"

Daisy had already cried herself red in the face from being frightened, and she now started coughing hard. I quickly pulled her into my arms and patted her back gently to calm her down.

Ava still tried to grab at her, but I saw what she was planning and twisted away with Daisy in my arms. Neal stepped forward to block my path, siding with Ava as he tried to talk me down.

"Come on, man. Ava's the one who carried Daisy to term. If you're set on divorcing her, then get your side chick to give you another kid. Besides, you've always wanted a son, haven't you? Daisy's a girl."

I stared at him incredulously, catching the smug glint in his eyes. He had great acting skills—if I hadn't known him for over a decade, I might not have noticed what he was really thinking.

I didn't want to keep arguing with them, so I lowered my voice and gently asked Daisy, "Daisy, do you want to come with me?"

She threw her arms around my neck without hesitation, sobbing her heart out.

Ignoring Ava's nonstop cursing, I covered Daisy's ears and turned to leave. Behind us, Ava screeched, "Everyone says their daughters are total sweethearts, but mine has nothing but a jet-black heart!"

I saw the trending news pop up on my phone and immediately turned to look at Ava, who was already hoarse from talking. She'd stuffed her phone in her pocket so I wouldn't notice she was live-streaming. Right now, the comments were full of people mocking her for thinking she was a big deal, but she couldn't see any of it.Just as she was about to keep talking, I cut in, "End your live stream."Her voice cut off at once. "How did you know?"I didn't answer. I just gave her a hard look. She pulled her phone in a panic. The second she saw the comments, she had a meltdown. But somehow, she pushed all the blame onto me."This is all your fault, Jordan. If it weren't for you, I never would've ended up like this!" she cried.I frowned at her refusal to accept reality. "You did this to yourself. Don't you dare start spreading lies about me."Ava shot me a furious look, then stormed out.I had no idea where she went, but my gym suddenly blew up online because of that live stream. It tur

I thought Ava would keep pestering me, but a whole week went by without a word from her.I was more than happy to be left alone. I used the time to buy new equipment for the gym and reopen for business. I also explained to my members what had really happened that day when Yvette caused a scene at the gym. Some of them chose to trust my character and kept coming. But I still lost a lot of clients.I was racking my brains over how to win them back when a buddy of mine showed up. He asked, "What are you doing here?"I frowned in confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?""Ava's getting torn apart online. You didn't know?"I shook my head. "I've already filed for divorce. I'm not keeping up with her anymore."He perked right up when he heard that. "It's about that whole thing between you two—how you exposed her cheating during the live stream."I nodded, looking like I couldn't care less. He, on the other hand, was into the gossip and kept going, "Does she not know what you did or

Neal looked at me in confusion when he heard my words. "So-called good friend? Of course we're good friends, Jordan. Why else would I be trying to salvage the situation for you?"I sneered and shot him an icy look, no longer wanting to spare him the humiliation. "Of course we're good friends. Why else would you have been kind enough to 'care' for my wife? No, ex-wife."Neal's smile froze on his face, clearly not expecting me to rip off his mask with Dad right there. His lips curled into a grimace, and he played dumb. "What do you mean by that?"A cold glint flickered in my eyes. I threatened, "Do you want me to show Dad the photos of you and Ava?"Neal's family had never been well-off. Starting from elementary school, he'd basically lived at our place. My parents felt sorry for him when they saw how scrawny and underfed he looked, so they gave him all the good things we could afford. And yet, he had the nerve to go after my wife behind my back. That really was a spit on my parents

I took Daisy to my parents' place, but they were totally against it."What do you mean by leaving Daisy here with us? There's no way I'll agree to you divorcing Ava!" Mom hissed.Dad chimed in, "Life was going just fine. Why did you have to stir up trouble and make everyone miserable?"Their health hadn't been great for some time. I was terrified that if they found out what Ava had done, they would get so worked up it would make them sick. That was why I'd decided to keep it from them."My business with Ava is between the two of us. You don't have to get involved. Just help me take care of Daisy," I said.Mom shot me a fierce glare. "You already had Yvette hauled off to the police station. How are we supposed to stay out of this?"I looked at her in surprise, not expecting her and Dad to already know about this.Maybe she could see how dumbfounded I looked, because she let out a cold snort. "Ava already told us everything. What you did was really over the line, so you're going t

"No way! So, Ava is the real cheater here?" someone commented."This is the sort of yoga she's been practicing? No wonder her videos have gotten sexier and sexier. Turns out she's been doing partner yoga with another man!"The entire WhatsApp chat log was filled with photos from that account with the blank profile picture. Every single one of them showed Ava and Neal. They were doing partner yoga, but the poses were so intimate they were straight-up suggestive. Not only were their lower bodies pressed tightly together, but there were also poses where one person's face was level with the other's crotch. The moment I'd received these photos back then, I'd gone straight to Ava to confront her. She'd brushed me off. "That's just how partner yoga works. Can you stop being unreasonable? And you're a personal trainer. You touch your female clients all the time, too."I'd trembled with anger at how shameless she'd been and explained that what I did was normal, professional contact. She'd

The viewers heard what I said and immediately pushed back."What's that scumbag talking about? We're telling him to go to hell!""Exactly! And how dare he talk back to Ava like that? He's shameless!"What they couldn't see off-camera was that Ava's face had turned ashen.Watching her expression change so drastically only made me find the whole thing hilarious. So, she did know what exactly she'd done."Darlings, something just came up. I've got to end the live stream for now!" Panicking, Ava hurried to say goodbye to the viewers in her live stream and instinctively reached to end it.I didn't give her the chance. I grabbed the phone right out of her hand and asked coolly, "What's the rush? I'm not done talking yet."Ignoring the panic on her face, I glanced at the viewer count in the live stream. There were already over ten thousand people watching.I couldn't help taking a look at her profile page, too. She already had more than 200 thousand followers. All her posts were close
