Chapter 2

Author: Dottie
That same night, Anthony angrily threw the fake medical records at Hannah's feet.

The truth about Hannah pretending to be sick and William forcing me to donate blood was finally exposed.

Hannah burst into tears.

She cried so hard that her words became hard to understand. "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry. I was just scared. Chloe treated me so badly in the past. I didn't know if she had really changed, so I just wanted to test her. I really didn't mean to pretend to be sick."

As she cried, she walked over to the closet and hurriedly grabbed a few pieces of clothing.

She stuffed them into a suitcase. "I know I was wrong. I'll move out right away. I won't bother you anymore..."

William immediately rushed over and held the suitcase shut. "Dad, Mom, you heard her! Hannah was only doing it because she feels insecure! You both know how badly Chloe treated her back then!"

He glanced toward my room before speaking even more heatedly. "Have you forgotten what Chloe used to be like? She was spoiled and selfish! Do you really believe she completely changed after spending five years away? What normal person would cut her own wrist and jump out of a window over a few words? Someone who can be this cruel to herself must have a lot of tricks up her sleeve. I think she's just gotten better at acting..."

"Shut up!" Anthony's angry voice cut him off.

Anthony and Emily glared fiercely at him. But in the end, they still believed what he said.

From that night on, the way everyone looked at me changed.

With Anthony and Emily's silent approval, Hannah became more and more cruel.

But when she poured an entire glass of ice-cold water over my head, I stood there without moving. I even looked up at her and gave her a pleasing smile.

When she deliberately put seafood on my plate, I quietly thanked her. Then I ate it all.

Hannah watched as red welts quickly spread across my neck, and she finally lost her patience.

She grabbed a handful of sleeping pills and roughly shoved them into my mouth. "Swallow them! Aren't you always so obedient? I just want to see how long you can keep pretending!"

Anthony stopped walking. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but no words came out.

Emily hesitated as she lowered her hand. Then she turned her face away.

William stood to the side with his arms crossed, watching the show.

They were waiting for the old Chloe to appear.

The spoiled and hot-tempered girl who would throw things, scream, and make a scene.

Even Hannah tensed up at that moment.

But I didn't fight back. I simply opened my mouth obediently and struggled to swallow every pill.

Hannah froze for a second. Then her face went pale.

She suddenly rushed forward and shoved her fingers into my mouth. "What's wrong with you? Spit them out! Those are sleeping pills! Too many of them can actually kill you! Are you trying to get me in trouble?"

By the time our family doctor arrived, Hannah had messed with me so badly that the corners of my mouth were bleeding.

The process of making me throw up was long and humiliating. I curled up on the couch, trembling nonstop.

Anthony draped his jacket over my shoulders with shaking hands.

His eyes were red as he glared at William and Hannah. "This is all your fault!"

Emily rushed over and wrapped her arms around me.

She broke down crying. "Chloe, what happened to you? What's wrong?"

But I only stared blankly at the light on the ceiling. I didn't react at all.

Six months after the police took over the investigation, there was finally a breakthrough. The human trafficking ring that had been posing as an etiquette school was taken down. They were involved in more than a dozen cases. Once the news broke, the whole country was shocked. The news kept replaying reports about the crimes committed by these monsters. The whole family was glued to the TV when the butler suddenly rushed in, looking terrified. "Mr. Saunder, Mrs. Saunder, this is bad! The police just called. They've hit a dead end! They caught the criminals, but they don't have enough key evidence to give them serious sentences. The middleman who found and contacted their targets never showed his face. Even his voice was altered. The only time he appeared in person, he was wearing a mask. The police say the evidence is too weak. If they can't find solid proof, they may only be able to charge them with lesser crimes."Anthony and Emily's faces turned pale.William slammed his fist into th

I wanted to speak, but no sound came out. They sent me to a private hospital owned by Saunder Group for a complete medical examination. The results were shocking. The report listed multiple old fractures, soft tissue injuries, severe malnutrition, and severe post-traumatic stress disorder.Anthony and William went almost crazy trying to find out what had happened to me during the past five years. They tried to contact the people who had taken me away. But no one answered. Even their phone numbers had been disconnected.William stood there in a daze, staring at the phone as the call ended in silence. He seemed to remember something from five years ago. When they had sent me away, they had barely looked at the papers before signing the so-called "family separation and confidentiality agreement."Those people had told them that any contact from the family could ruin my "training" and affect my mindset. They had also worried that Hannah would feel ignored. So, they really stopped caring ab

The doctor's face was grim. The moment Anthony and Emily saw his expression, their legs went weak. Don't be afraid. We're here now!"They shook me desperately, but I didn't react at all. When I looked at their faces, I suddenly remembered the cruel faces of those people from the past.Their filthy laughter and vicious curses echoed in my head.My friends who had refused to obey had screamed and cried with all their strength. "Doctor... Get a doctor! Someone, get a doctor for my sister!"He almost screamed the words. He no longer paid any attention to Hannah, who was still trembling beside the pool.Instead, he clumsily picked me up and kept repeating, "Chloe, don't be scared. I'm here..."The dizziness from drowning hadn't gone away. My mind was still drifting in and out.For a moment, I seemed to see the William from years ago.He used to take me to amusement parks. "Chloe, look. This was your third birthday... And this was the first time you ever danced. You were such a cute little girl."William happened to walk by.When he saw this, he stopped and sneered. "You're really good at acting. You're just pretending to be pitiful so you can drive Hannah out of this family, aren't you?
