  Brisk steps could be heard as a young lady walked hurriedly. She clutched the bag tightly and looked around the big fancy restaurant. She was slightly frantic, and it was vivid from how her attractive face appeared exhausted. Even at that, the young lady still looked extremely beautiful. She had exquisite facial features, that were proportioned to each other. She was a delicate beauty, whose skin was milky, radiant, and flawless. 

" Are you Miss Ava?"

 A gentle-looking man, who was clothed in a fitted black suit and putting on a pair of colorless eyeglasses, approached the young lady, who just stepped into the fancy restaurant. 

" Yes, I am." 

The young lady was called Ava. She turned to the man, who just approached her, and she slowly nodded. 

Though her mind was sort of in a mess at this moment, she could still detect the gentle-looking man who was familiar with the unknown person who called her this morning. This made her heart throb more, and her palms became sweaty, but she couldn't reveal her helplessness in front of the gentle-looking man. So, she tried to conceal her anxiousness.  The last time she felt this nervous, was when her parents died. Now, she was all alone. 

" Please, follow me." The gentle-looking man adjusted himself and gestured for Ava to follow him. 

Ava pressed her lips into a straight line and nodded again. There was nothing to say. So, she silently trailed after the man with a heavy heart. 

As they walked to wherever they were heading, Ava noticed the whole restaurant was oddly quiet. This was unusual, and she wondered why. It was already noon, and there were supposed to be a lot of people in the restaurant, but she saw no one. Everywhere was tidy. 

But why? 

Ava thought, and for a moment, her mind was distracted. 

Or, could it be the restaurant was booked? She pulled her brows into a frown but didn't stop walking. 

Wait!

 I think that makes sense, as there is no other reason for the restaurant to be this free and quiet, she thought inwardly and connected the dots. But as she realized that, it only made her anxiousness soar more. 

If a restaurant could be booked just because someone wanted to see her, she pondered on what kind of a person that might be. But the thought only freaked her out. 

Ava sighed softly and shook her head. There was no going back now. She only hoped for something good to come out of this.

This was when her mind suddenly raced back to what happened earlier. She got a call from an unknown person, who threatened her with something she wasn't anticipating. It was a really strange call, but there was nothing she could do, and that was how she ended up here.

No matter what, she has to protect herself!

The gentle-looking man didn't bother about Ava and just continued his movements. 

" We are here," the gentle-looking man announced, as soon as they arrived in front of a particular private room. 

Ava turned to the gentle-looking man, and obviously, she was expecting him to go in, so she could follow him. 

The man understood her look, but he shook his head negatively.

 " I can't go in. The boss requested only for you and not the both of us." He explained with a crisp voice. 

Ava raised her brows and curved her mouth into an ' O ' shape. She was startled to hear that and didn't know what to say. Immediately, an ominous hunch surged up in her, and she gulped down softly. 

She really couldn't bring herself to go inside the private room. Fuck! She didn't even know who this boss is 

Sensing her hesitation, the gentle-looking man adjusted his eyeglasses and turned away from her. 

" It would be best if Miss Ava could go in now, as the boss hates people who waste his time." Then, he strode away. 

Ava's throat turned hot, and her face paled. She understood what the man said just now, but it was really difficult. What was she going to do? 

Ava was muddled at this moment, and she wished she could just teleport far away from this place. She tugged the hem of her shirt and thought of going back, but wouldn't that mark the end of her career? 

No! I can't afford to do that! 

Since she couldn't do that, there was only one option then. Left with no choice, she took a deep breath and straightened herself. Then, she took a step forward and pressed the door open. 

The private room was bright and very luxurious, with slow music playing in the background. 

Ava made her way in, but she still felt very uneasy. Her whole body was now sweating, which was uncomfortable. 

" Hello, Ava." 

A blonde-haired man greeted her, the moment she entered the private room. 

Ava halted in her steps, and she slowly looked up. She was stunned to hear such a deep but cool voice. She saw the man who greeted her, but he appeared different from what she thought. The man was extremely charming, with his ashy blonde hair covering half of his face.  He was surrounded by a gentle aura, and his composure was refined. There was no sign of a smile on his lips, as his face was impassive. 

" Have a seat." 

He pointed to a seat in front of him and pressed a button beside him, that automatically closed the door behind her. 

Ava's heart thud, and she widened her eyes, but she moved to take a seat. 

The young man chuckled at this and curled his lips upward, " Relax, I am not going to eat you." 

Ava clenched her fists and tried to calm herself down. She was slightly annoyed to hear that, and she decided to push down her fears first. 

" How did you get the secret I buried?"
