I sit with them on the porch, and take the cup of coffee that Micheal offers me, as i start to tell them everything that happened.
"Father came to me two days ago, he had learned of a plot... to kill Alpha maxwell. As the captain of the guard it is my fathers job to protect the Alpha, but to do so would require the use of his guard. Most of whom can only fight effectively in wolf form. Which would leave them vulnerable to the more deadly weapons of the hunters..." I trail off and take a drink of my coffee. Micheal is the first to speak.
"Your father asked you to... what? Assassinate these hunters? Thats fucked up... I mean.. Annie., i know you are good with hand to hand combate and all... But considering your condition, that does seem risky to me..." he says.
I know that the "condition" he is refering to is that i was the first of our kind to be born without a wolf, i still have hightened senses compared to the average human. My sight and hearing is nearly as good as the guys, and my sense of smell IS as good as theirs, but i cannot shift into a wolf. The theory is that i was born with only one soul, whereas the others where born with a twin soul, two souls fused into one being.
Micheal thinks that because i cannot shift i should be kept at home, where our enemies will not be able to get to me. But I am a soldier, and alpha blood runs through my veins, because my father is Alpha Maxwell's younger brother, and their father was Alpha before him.
"No, Micheal, he did not send me to kill anyone. I was to spy on them. Pose as a human, and a Hunter, join them if i could. To find out what they where up to." I told them.
"Where did that go wrong?" Peter asked. Because obviously things did not go to plan as i was couvered in blood.
"Well, to start with, they had a witch working for them, and she could tell that i was more than a normal human, but she wouldnt figure out what i was. She sensed me while i was watching from the next warehouse over. One of the men, not the leader, but he was higher up by the way the others spoke to him. He came into the building to see who was there...The thing is, by the time he got into the warehouse i was in, someone else had entered it, from the back. Only this other man was masking his scent somehow, i should have smelt him, but i didnt, i heard him. I tried to play the Hunter card, act like i was there to join them. But the hunter was not convinced, he attacked me. He was angry, but that made him slow. He screamed when i killed him, and then the others came. Some of them stayed outside, breaking out the windows and trying to shoot me with darts full of wolvesbane and deadmans blood, they didnt know what to make of me. I slaughtered 37 of them, but thats not really the imoprtant part of the story. I burned down their warehouse, after i checked their files to see what infermation they had on the pack. They knew far more than i am comfortable with, but i think i took care of them..." I paused the tale again to drink some more coffee, hoping to warm my body.
I take a deep breath and continue "When i was sure there was no more hunters i doused their whole warehouse in gasoline. I returned to the bodies, and piled them up, retrieving my throwing knives and their weapons as i did. I lit the pile on fire, but when i turned for the last three bodies, a man stepped out of the shadows. The wind was at my back, so i couldnt smell him even when i saw him." I turn to face Ri'elle and add "I thought all the masks like that could only mask the scent of someone while they remained out of sight... But once you see them, you should be able to smell them, right?" I ask, looking around the group at large.
It was Ri'elle who answered, "Yes, that is true for all the masks i know of. But magic is ever changing and growing, so this may be something we have never come across, something... new."
I nodded and continued "The thing is, this man he looked at me... i don't know how else to explain it, he looked at me like my Father looks at my mother... in love.?I have never seen him before in my life, but he spoke to me as if he knew me. I mean, he didn't like, know things about me, or anything like that. He just seemed surprised that i didnt know who he was, he sounded offended that i didn't recognize him. He said 'You have no idea who i am, do you?' and then he said something about being covered in blood brings out my eyes. It was strange, the whole time i was sure that he was going to attack me, but he didn't. And i know, and dont ask me how, but i KNOW he was a wolf and not a hunter. Something about his eyes, they sort of flickered like a flame. Then i grabbed my last few throwing knive, and my bag, and i ran here." I finished, a little anticlimactic.
Micheal and Peter shot to their feet, thinking that i may have been followed here by a man without a scent. If we are being honest, the fact that he had no scent means he might have been able to follow me, but i doubt it since i was paying close attention to the sounds around me, listening for someone following me. Micheal does not care how careful i think i was, and i know it, but i tell him anyways "Micheal, i was not followed, i was carefull..." But he was already across the yard, he and Peter leave to search a few blocks around us, i turn to Ri'elle to ask the question that is burning inside of me.
I turn to Ansel, not sure what to do about this vampire who has tried to kill me multiple times suddenly claiming to give me his alegence. *Give him an order, say a few orders out loud, but only put your authority into one, maybe that will help us know if he is lying..?* Ansel tells me through the mind link. I nod, then I turn to this vampire king to give my orders "Stand on your feet, spin around, tell me your name, touch your nose" Only a werewolf, vampire, witch, or other person magicly bound to me would be able to tell which one of these orders was the one with power behind it. But, as I speak the vampire does rise to his feet, he is slow to follow my second command, I can see he is thinking it through. The moment I give the order for him to tell me his name he follows the order without hesitation. "I am Samuel Keith Singer, King of the Vampires." He tells us. Before I can say anything else Ri'elle rushes out into the hall, he takes in the scene around him, his fingers are twi
Many in the pack are against the idea of a pack member adopting a child who is not a werewolf. They do not say so directly to me, but I can feel the stare's as I walk around with Nicky trailing behind me. I think that if I was anyone else besides the queen they would be much more vocal about their disapproval, or maybe it is because they can sense that Nicky is not human, so they figure he will not pose as much of a threat to the pack that a normal human would. Either way, I have decided to address the pack at dinner tonight. I want everyone to know that Nicky saved my life, but I also need them to know that he is MY child, and if anyone tries to hurt him they will have to go through me. Once everyone has taken their seats I call them to attention and introduce Nicky to the pack as my child. Ansel stands to his feet and addresses the pack. "He is OUR child. I know that a lot of you are going to find this odd... adopting a child from outside the pack is... uncommon to say the lea
I quickly untie the ropes from my legs, but I stay where I am on the ground, knowing my legs will be to shaky to hold me up. My Ansel suddenly apears, jumping over the limo, taking the vampire king down to the ground in one move. Then he takes the kings head off in one bite. The rest of my warriors are here now, fighting vampires on all sides. I watch in horror as one of my warriors move in, to attack Nixie, I jump to my feet and place myself inbetween Nixie and the warriors. The warriors stop dead in their tracks, tilting their wolfish heads at me, tying to understand why I am stopping them from saving me. "No, he is with me... He saved me... He is just a baby..." I pant out. The warriors nod and turn back to the vampires to finish killing the last of them. Nixie trasforms again, this time he is a pure white horse. He walks over to me and nudges his head under my arm, helping me stay on my feet. With Nixie's help I climb onto his back, and I ride on his
Over the next two days the whole pack pulls together to help the towns around us. We work our way down the street from the pack castle into the town, once we reach the edge of town each house that we pass we check for people in need of help. There was a lot of flooding in this area so we make is a point to check every house for the injured or trapped people. Most people evacuated the area before the storm hit, so many of the houses are empty, but we search them all anyways. This storm was predected to be more on the mild side, so people expected to be gone from their homes for only a few days, because the roads are not passable people can not return. We find some pets in houses alone, when we find a pet in an empty house we leave a note with a phone number and we take the pet back to the castle to be fed and taken care of until their families return. I want to lead the pack as we clear the roads, but the warriors of the pack insist on keeping me surrounde
It takes the whole pack working together for three days to get the whole castle and grounds cleaned up. Thanks to the warriors and other pack members who boarded them up, most of the windows are fine. But a lot of trees came down, and a few of them landed on some of the buildings on the grounds. The larger brick buildings are largely okay, a couple of them need new roofs put in. It is the smaller wooden buildings that took the most damage, a couple of them will need to be completely demolished, and a few others will need some major renovations to be usable again. I spend my days cutting the fallen trees into logs, so they can be moved out of the way of the rest of the clean up efforts. Once that is done I split the logs into fire wood. My back and shoulders are killing me after a two whole days of splitting and stacking logs. Ansel spends his days loading our dump trucks with pieces of the broken buildings, the warriors dump the debry from the trucks in one big
I know that I already agreed to help Ri'elle with his spell, and I will, but the thing is... After the regular spell work part of it...Ri'elle says in order to seal the magic I need to kiss Ansel. I have never done a spell that requires love kiss in order to seal the magic, but he says that this spell needs it. I know he would not lie to me, and I will do the magic he needs me to, the thing is that I think this spell maybe too advanced for me. I wish that Ri'elle was well enough to work the spell himself. Ansel walks with me in silence to our room, I am thankful that he lets me walk without talking because I need the time to sort out my feelings about this spell, and also to work up the courage to try this spell since I am not a full witch and my not have enough experience to work this spell.Once we make it to our room I ask Ansel to sit on the bed quietly so I can make myself ready for the spell. I change into a pure white dress, then I cleanse the space by burning sage. I finish s
