ISABELLA’S POV

The morning of my investor meeting feels heavier than I expected. This is an investment that will either make or break my stay here. I dress carefully in my tailored navy pantsuit, while pulling my hair into a sleek professional style. The twins are with the nanny I employed for the afternoon, safe and happy at home. I review my notes one last time in the car ... from my financial projections, startup milestones, to the impact metrics. This meeting could be a major breakthrough for my debt-relief platform, providing the capital and network I need to scale faster than I could alone.

I arrive at the upscale conference venue with ten minutes to spare. Entering into the private meeting room, I can immediately see the elegant design of the room, in the room is a long polished table, sitting there you are blessed with the city views through the windows. I take my seat, my heart steady, while mentally preparing for the meeting.

Then the door opens again, Iook up to see who the person is...only to see Ethan walk in.

Our eyes meet for a brief, electric second. His expression is composed, but I can see the flicker of recognition in his gaze. He looks exactly as I remember ... tall, commanding, and dressed in a perfectly tailored dark suit. For a moment, the air in the room feels thinner. But I force my face into a polite neutrality and nod once in professional acknowledgment, as if he is simply another executive in the room. Just a stranger and nothing more.

The lead investor, Mr. Cole, begins the meeting with introductions. The deal on the table is significant. For my startup, it means substantial funding, credibility, and access to a broader client base. For Ethan’s side, the partnership would open critical doors into Asian and European markets through Cole’s extensive network ... a strategic expansion he has been pursuing aggressively...I guess. I just got to know that now in this meeting.

We are forced to present and negotiate together. I keep my voice calm and professional, addressing the room rather than him directly. I outline the platform’s data models, projected social impact, and revenue forecasts. Ethan does the same, his tone measured and businesslike as he discusses market entry strategies and synergies.

The discussion grows in detailed manner. We debate timelines, risk assessments, and equity structures. Despite the tension humming beneath every word, we find common ground on several key points. The deal is too valuable for either of us to walk away from easily. I need this funding to grow my portfolio and accelerate my startup. He needs the investor’s network to soften his entry into new international markets.

The meeting stretches for nearly two hours. By the end, it is clear we will need to collaborate closely on follow-up deliverables from detailed financial models, to joint proposals, and strategy sessions over the coming weeks.

As the meeting concludes, I gather my documents and stand.

“Thank you for your time,” I say to the room, my voice steady. “Please send the follow-up projections and revised term sheet to my email.”

I turn and walk toward the door without looking at Ethan.

ETHAN’S POV

She is here.

The moment I saw Isabella inside the room, everything else faded. Three years, and she still carries that quiet strength that once unsettled me. She looked professional, composed, and completely detached. She treated me like a stranger.

I played my role during the meeting, keeping my tone neutral while my mind raced. The deal is genuinely promising. The Asian and European market access it offers could transform my expansion plans. Yet the thought of working hand-in-hand with her on the follow-ups makes the air feel thicker.

As the meeting ends, she stands and speaks to the room with cool professionalism.

“Please send the follow-up projections and revised term sheet to my email.”

She turns and walks toward the door. Something tightens in my chest. I stand quickly.

“Isabella.”

She does not stop. Her steps remain measured and confident as she continues down the hallway. I take a step forward, but she is already turning the corner.

I stand there for a moment, my jaw clenched, watching the empty doorway. The investor clears his throat, reminding me we are not alone. I force myself back into the conversation, finalizing the next steps, but my mind is no longer fully on this deal.

She is back, but she is avoiding me. And the forced collaboration means I will see her again soon whether she likes it or not, thankfully.

ISABELLA’S POV

My heart is still racing as I reach the exit and slide into the waiting car. I keep my posture straight until the vehicle pulls away from the building. Only then do I let out a long, shaky breath.

Seeing him again stirred too many old feelings. The way he said my name. The familiar presence that once filled every room we shared. But I will not give him the satisfaction of a reaction. Our interactions will remain strictly professional. Emails. Documents. No personal conversations that will reopen any old wounds or current secrets.

The deal is too important to abandon. It will help my startup grow faster than I could alone and strengthen my portfolio significantly. For him, it offers the international expansion he clearly wants. We will both benefit from making this work which means none of will back down.

But I will keep my distance outside the necessary meetings.

I close my eyes and rest my head against the seat. My twins are waiting at home. That is what matters most. They are safe. They are mine. Ethan does not know they exist, and after today, I am even more determined to keep it that way.

ETHAN’S POV

I leave the meeting with the signed intent letter in my briefcase, but my thoughts are elsewhere. Isabella’s cool professionalism stung more than I expected. She treated me like a business acquaintance and nothing more.

I sit in the back of my car as the city passes by. The deal is genuinely strong. The market access it offers is exactly what I need. But working closely with her on the follow-ups will mean being in the same room again and again. Such a profitable deal

Part of me wants to demand answers. Another part ... my proud self ... wants to maintain the distance she clearly prefers.

I grip my phone tightly. This business deal will bring her back into my orbit whether she likes it or not.

This is not over.

ISABELLA’S POVMy bilogical clock wakes me up before the twins as usual. And for a moment, the unfamiliar ceiling confuses me. Then the events of the previous day returns to me in a rush. I turn my head and look at Liam that is still asleep on the other side of me. Their steady breathing is the only thing that feels familiar in this place.I carefully extract myself from the bed and stand. My body feels heavy from tension and lack of proper rest. I smooth the covers around the children, before walking quietly to the window. The city is already awake and I am sure that Ethan is awake somewhere, he has always been an early riser.I need coffee. And I need a plan. When I step into the hallway, the scent of food assaults me. I follow the scent to the kitchen and stop in the doorway. There is Ethan standing at the stove, with his sleeves rolled up, cooking eggs and toast. He looks up immediately he senses me.“They’re still asleep,” I say.He nods. “I figured they would be. I made breakfas

ETHAN’S POVHere I am standing inside the bedroom with the key still closed in my fist while facing Isabella blazing eyes, I can see her chest rising and falling as she barely control her fury. The argument has left both of us angry and tired. Her last demand ... that I open the door so she can go to the children ... hangs in the air between us.Lila’s small voice calls out to her again from down the hall, follows by Liam’s more serious tone asking where Mommy went. The sound of their voice cuts through my last resolve.I look at Isabella, then at the door, then back at her. Without another word, I step past her, unlock the door, and pull it open. I walk out into the hallway and close the door behind me, though I do not lock it this time. I still need the barrier. I need a moment to breathe before I do something worse and she needs to calm down.I lean against the wall just outside the bedroom, listening to the muffled sounds of her moving inside the room. My pulse is still running to

ISABELLA’S POVImmediately these words leave his mouth.Something inside me snaps.I stare at him, the residual shock of the last hour still buzzing under my skin. The soft voices of the twins in the room down the hall drift faintly through the partially open door. That sound is the only thing keeping me from completely losing my shit.“You don’t get to decide that,” I say, my voice shaking with fury. “You don’t get to take my children from their school like some kind of .... and then announce that we’re staying under your roof.”Ethan stands near the large windows, with his sleeves rolled up, and his expression controlled. Well too controlled.“I have every right. They’re mine. I ran a test and it was confirmed.”“That doesn’t give you the right to ambush me.” I take a step closer to him, my hands clenched. “You didn’t call me. You didn’t ask me. You just sent people to watch my house, and grab the kids DNA without my knowledge, and then you walked into their school and pulled them.

ETHAN’S POVThe updated surveillance report lands on my desk just after nine in the morning. I open the file looked into it and a bomb goes of in my head.Inside the file are clear photographs of two small children. A boy with dark hair and a serious expression and a girl with soft curls and a bright smile. Both of them are approximately two years old. The timestamps show them leaving the house with Isabella in the mornings. One image captures the boy holding a toy truck. Another shows the girl clutching a stuffed bear.I stare at the photos for a long time while checking my timeline. The timeline almost matches perfectly. Two years and a few months. Exactly the right age. But I can't be sure.I do not call her or drive to her house. Rather I give some new instructions to my security team.“I need some DNA samples. Get it discreetly From both children. Use whatever access that is necessary school, daycare, discarded items. I want results as fast as possible. Priority processing.”My

ISABELLA’S POVThe days after the fateful encounter feels heavier than before. I keep catching myself staring into space, replaying the moment I almost told Ethan about the twins. The words had been right there, ready to spill. Only the image of Liam’s serious little face and Lila’s soft smile stopped me. I cannot afford another mistake. The always smart Sofia notices my state of mind immediately. She begins to watch me carefully during our evening tea, her expression growing more concerned with each passing day.“You’re not okay,” she says. “Whatever is happening with Ethan is eating you alive.”I try to wave it off, but she doesn’t believe me. The next morning, without telling me, she takes matters into her own hands.ETHAN’S POVSofia walks into my office without an appointment with fire on her ass. I have never seen my assistant look so uncertain, but I gesture for her to let her through. The moment the door closes, Sofia crosses her arms and fixes me with a hard stare.“You need

  • Twisted Obsession: My Billionaire Husband Regrets Losing Me   Chapter 19

ETHAN’S POV The morning after the club, I leave Isabella’s house as promised, but the unease stays with me. Something is wrong. The way she looked when she opened the door, ... she is angry, yes, but she is also panicking... keeps replaying in my head. It is like she is hiding something. I call the head of my security the moment I get into the car. “I want discreet eyes on the house. Round the clock. Do not contact them. Just observe. I want to know who comes and goes, and if anything unusual appears.” The order is given. Within hours, the surveillance is put in place. Julian meets me for lunch later that day. The moment he sees my face, he starts laughing. “You look like a man who got exactly what he wanted and still managed to fuck it up,” he says, dropping into the seat across from me. “She ran again, didn’t she?” I don’t answer. Julian leans forward, grinning. “You’re watching the house now, aren’t you? Good. Stop giving her space. Your pride already cost you three years. K
