Everyone turned towards where I stood, half hidden by the blue pool, rays of lights getting lost in the depth of the water.

The moment reminded me again of how much I have changed.

I was in the f*****g spotlight. 

All eyes were on me as if daring me to say what I had said again.

I wasn't used to taking the lead.

"Let's play some games. I agree with Lily," Mr. Nikolai said, suddenly pumped up and willing to get in the pool.

I was grateful to him.

We laughed through it when hot daddy got on Mr. Nikolai's back, and they trudged across the river, Sonia laughing the loudest and longest, making me feel left out again.

We all took turns with each other until it got to my turn with hot daddy.

From the side of the water where I was clapping and cheering with Sonia, I swam towards him, anxious that he might not want to do this with me.

He was still there until I got to him at the beginning center of the pool.
