“Sarah and she's waiting.”
Alicia made to stand but was held down by Michael.“Don't you like me?”Michael asked leaning forward.Alicia pushed his hands off and motioned towards the exit, she left his hands hanging.Michael paced round his office, adjusting his blue suit.“What is wrong with me?”He yelled, hitting his table with his clenched fist.Alicia rushed out, panting with her face bent to the ground. Zoey walked up to her and held her up.“I guess, you're just coming out of Michael's office.”Zoey smirked.Alicia raised a brow and made to leave. Zoey dragged her back, maintaining same spot.“I don't want to see you around Michael, go sit your ass down.”She leaned forward before striding out.Alicia held herself up and headed towards the restaurant.Sarah was seated already, waiting on her arrival, she turned when she saw her and heaved a relieve sign.“You came up late.”She frowned.“Yes, I'm sorry I kept you waiting and I'm so exhausted right now.”Alicia answered expressing tiredness.“Waiter!”Sarah yelled.A waiter ran out to pick their orders and served them accordingly.Alicia got home tired, she rang the door bell and Felicia rushed to welcome her. She led her to her room and sat her down on a crotch.“How was work today?”Felicia asked.“So strenuous, the CEO wasn't considerate at all.”“You have to rest, Alicia. Go have a bath.”She said, dropping a towel on the bed.Alicia took the towel and headed straight to the bathroom. She flung the door open and went in, leaving it unlocked. She took almost an hour showering, she never bathed that long. Her long hectic day soon became a memory, the cold water had its way to her heart. She flung her long black hair open, exposing it more to the water streaming down in form of a shower. She started humming a popular hymn “Showers of blessing,”she was carried away and didn't know when Felicia walked in.“Alicia!”She yelled.Alicia turned, bouncing back to reality, she drew the towel quickly, covering herself.“Why didn't you shut the door?”She asked firmly.“I forgot to.”Alicia said stepping out.“Come to the dinning, food has been served.”Felicia said and walked away. Alicia stood transfixed as though not knowing what to do.She quickly wore her night gown and brushed her hair. She viewed herself one last time at the big wooden framed mirror in her room, she smirked and went to the dinning.Things got better for Alicia at work, she was regarded as the efficient one, Sarah always stood out for her, especially when Zoey comes around.Sarah always warned Alicia to keep Zoey at arms length, she was a typical example of a trouble shooter and Alicia didn't care much about it, her work was her second priority after God.Alicia would leave as early as possible just to meet up, she got used to it, it continued and was nick named Ms Punctual, though she didn't like the way it sounded each time they called her that. She only wished, Michael could call her that, maybe she would feel the serenity she felt when he first called her "Licia."Alicia felt uneasy when she got to work, she started pacing round her office until someone knocked at the door. She ushered the visitor in, while sitting on her big office chair.“You must be, Alicia.” Xavier, Michael's friend guessed.“Yes, I am. Do you want to meet with the CEO?”“Of course!”He said nodding.“Come with me.”Alicia said motioning towards the door. She held the door out for him, he stood outside while she led the way.She was wearing a black gown with a blue jacket, which fitted her body exposing her curves. Xavier kept staring at her till she got to Michael's office. He adverted his gaze when she stared back.“Please, stand outside while I go inform him.”She pleaded.“What's your name, sire?”“I'm Xavier.”She nodded and went in.“Sire! Someone by the name, Xavier is here to see you.”“Are you alright? Can't you see I'm busy!” He yelled startling her.“But..”She stuttered.“One more word from you and you'll get what you deserve!”He yelled.Xavier got hold of the door handle and walked in.“You shouldn't yell at her, Michael!”He said with a smirk and motioned towards him, he embraced him tightly as though they were two lost friends.Alicia stood watching them with her hands akimbo.Michael smiled, exposing his diastema. This was Alicia's first time seeing him smile, rumors had it that, he never smiled to anyone and here he was. She smiled, because his' was contagious, she wondered the number of persons his smile could infect. She left the two friends in their reunion and closed the door behind her.“How have you been?”Michael asked leaning forward.“Fine. Life hasn't been easy.”Xavier stated.“What are you doing now?”Michael asked leafing through a volume.“Nothing much! Nothing worth. Michael you have to help me, I have business ideas but I don't have the money to implement them.”He said.“What if I employ you here?”“I would have loved that, but, that isn't what I'm after right now.”Xavier stated leaning forward with both hands on the table.Michael agreed to lend him some money for his business, he goes on thanking him.He sits up, bringing up another issue to deliberate on. Michael closes the book in front of him, to pay keen attention since he sounded urgent.“Who was that girl you were yelling at?”Xavier asked rubbing his two palms together.“That was my personal assistant, Alicia. Is everything okay?”“Yes! I think I like her.”He teased.Michael raised a brow and hissed.“What?” Xavier asked.“Stay clear from her, else you'll regret it!”Xavier smiled, he knew Michael was in love again but afraid to admit it. He nodded, he held the door out and left.He met Alicia at the door, she was holding files to submit at Michael's office.“Uhm, Alicia.”Xavier called. Alicia turned back leaning on the wall.“I'm sorry for what happened today.”“It wasn't your fault, thank you.”She said letting out a smile. He demanded for her phone contact of which she gave to him, Michael was eaves dropping and picked a few details. She knocked and he opened it immediately. She dropped the files on the table and made to leave.“I don't want to see you close to Xavier! He's my friend and I know him better.” Michael said with a grim while Alicia nodded.Michael stood up and walked up to her, she shifted backwards till her back touched the wall. He held out his two hands and placed them on the wall as though pinning her.He lowered his head, Alicia closed her eyes, he held out a finger and crossed Alicia's lips with it. He bent further till Alicia could feel his breathe, her heart flung to her mouth and her heart impulse increased. He was torturing her intentionally, he went back to his seat without uttering a word. Alicia opened her eyes embarrassed, Michael smirked and turned to his laptop. She stood transfixed, she felt the earth could open and swallow her. She felt her knees tremble and Michael was just sitting without uttering a word. She clinched her fist and gritted her teeth, but still felt helpless. She strode out of his offices, rushing as though someone was after her.Tears dripped down her cheeks, she wiped them off with her face towel. When she got to her office, she jammed the door loudly behind her, she flung some books off the table and rested her head on the table.Sarah who saw her countenance arrived soon after she got there, she knocked but got no response.“Why can't everyone just leave me alone.”She murmured.Sarah had her way in, a grasp escaped her lips when she saw how messy Alicia's office was, she stood for some time before picking them up.“Alicia! What's the matter with you? Why's your office this messy?”She asked looking around with a frown.“I'm okay! I just want to be alone.”She stated still facing down.“You silly girl, talk to me, I know you ain't alright.”Alicia heaved, took her face towel and wiped the tears off her face.“Does this have to do with Michael?”She asked.“He's just disgusting, I hate him now.”She cried.Sarah flung her hands round her, patting her gently till she was calm.Alicia got home late, Felicia was dead worried about her, after trying to reach her but, all proved abortive. She held her close to herself, examining her, to know if something horrible happened.“I'm alright.”Alicia said but Felicia didn't want listen to her. Alicia knew how stubborn she was when it comes to things like that.Alicia sat at the dinning gulping her meal down as though she haven't eaten for days. Felicia kept staring at her.“How was work today?”“Fine. At least I won't get to see Michael's disgusting face tomorrow!”Alicia answered."Here comes the prodigal son!" Ella stated and eyed her son the moment he walked right into the ward in his charismatic manner. He still managed to turn heads. "Good afternoon, mother." Michael sighed. He hated seeing the other attitudinal side of his mother. It was soo frustrating, guilt tripping and mute deafening. "Save the greetings for yourself." Ella was totally uninterested and disappointed with her son. She thought she had seen him through the tough times and he had moved on but unfortunately, that wasn't the case at all. He was utterly a puppet in Diana's hands without him knowing. "How is she?" Michael nodded his head towards Alicia. She was now dressed in the hospital's wear and if he didn't know better he would have said she was sleeping peacefully. But there she was, right in an almost comatose state and he was to blame for it. A bit above her forehead were dark purplish bruises, the place he had aggressively hit her. Some strands of her hair had slightly covered her
Michael tossed and turned to the other side of the bed. His head banged and ached badly. It felt he had a hangover the previous night. The bed he laid was soft, so soft, that he knew instantly he wasn't in his house. He tried recalling. Where exactly could he be? Even the bed in his room, in his parents house, didn’t feel like this. It was a woman’s. Opening his eyes was proving to be difficult but he flashed them opening, groaning as the ray of sunlight greeted him. He covered his face with his raised arm as a shield. He had a pounding headache that seemed almost like a migraine. Then his senses came to him. He was feeling stark naked under the bedsheet. Looking down, his chest was bare. Raising the sheets, his manhood smiled. What the hell? How had his clothes come off him? Why did it feeling silly that he had been raped? As if on cue, Diana walked in. She was only on a G-string and seductively shook her butt cheeks as she walked to the window, drawing the blinds closed. She had
"Hi, baby!" Diana's voice resonated in her living room. Her eyes lit up the moment Michael walked right into the room. What a surprise! A very big surprise.Diana had always persuaded him to come visit. She had made known that her security guards knew him and he was always welcomed to come over any time, any day. But he hadn't showed up until now. It was indeed a surprise. If it were christmas, she would have said Santa had promised on his word by bringing Michael to her. She stood from where she was seated, legs crossed, hurrying to throw her hands around his neck and kiss him deeply. Michael held up his hand to stop her from doing what she was proposing. Okay, he was still playing hard to get. "Michael, you are here." Diana stated. Her hands were itching to hold on to him. Her voice shivering under his emitting heat as they stood close. Her ears piquing at the soft breath of his. He just made her body shudder in an active sensation. "Michael!" She whispered and inched a bit cl
"Doctor, how is she?" Felicia ran up to the man in white coat approaching them. A nurse was standing right beside him. They were both of the same height and Felicia thought they would fit, if they were ever to be couples. What was she thinking when there was a more critical case staring right in her face. "According to the examinations we made and the test result that came out. She's suffering a mild concussion, having been hit hard on the head. She was jerking moments ago but we've seen to it. We don't know how long she'll be out cold but we know it's nothing serious." Both Felicia and Ella sighed. Alicia was going to be fine. Her situation wasn't critical. It was of complete relief. What was worrisome was how long she was going to be out, given the sedative injected during her convulsing state. Was she really going to be okay?"As for the man." The doctor added. "It was a miracle he was brought here on time, otherwise the internal bleeding would have been the end of him. We've su
Ella dashed right into the hospital. She didn't care if she was looking out of place or the curious look people gave her as she made hastily made her way to the nurse up desk. Her heart thumped greatly within. "My son! Where is he?" She slammed her hands on the slab, causing the fragile looking nurse to jump up. She was pretty and beautifully small. Looking at the old lady, the nurse's eyes lit up. The tag on her scrub read "Anita Smith". It was obvious she was newly employed or just transferred. It wasn't everyday one got to meet such a big woman who made impacts in the country. "My son! Where is he?" Ella asked again, snapping the young lady to reality. The nurse was just about to fish her phone from her pocket when the old but young looking woman snapped. Ah. Yes. Straight to business. She would ask for a picture later. Clearly her throat, she proceeded to ask her questions with professionalism. "Michael Dalton, yes?" Her mention of his name made her mind dart to how handsome
"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!" Michael couldn't believe his eyes. His own friend was kissing the woman he knew he liked! The whole scene was setting back to the last decade. Where his own best friend whom he had taken as his own blood brother had eloped with Diana. Why was fate treating him this badly? What had he done to deserve all that? Why were the women who came into his life striking him blows of smooching with people he was close with? And why were his friends betrayers? The two had broken away from the kiss, rather in reluctance and had faced him like they hadn't done anything wrong. Alicia looked at him with a disdainful sly smile, while Xavier couldn't even meet his eyes. The bastard! He had so trusted him that he had revealed a lot to him. His fist clenched. "What do you think you are doing here?" Another voice had come in place. Turning his head sideways, it was Felicia. The lady's face was unsmiling and she eyed him that it felt there was a monster in him that she hated. Or
"Oh, my God." Felicia had rushed up to Alicia, enveloping her in a hug. She had hurried hastily to the station the moment her friend had called that she had been arrested. If she had been told by someone that such a thing would happen, then she would have called the person a blatant liar. She had thought Alicia was playing a prank on her at first but when she bursted out crying, she had known for a fact it wasn't cruising at all. Why had Alicia been locked up? She hadn’t even bothered asking but had managed to comfort Alicia into giving the station's address. "Did they touch you?" Felicia looked all over Alicia's body, her eyes scanning for a single mark of beating or torture but there wasn’t any. The makeup on Alicia's face had mixed with sweat and dust, her bruises coming in full view. They were healing faster than expected though. Alicia sure had a good lot of white blood cells. She was strong and immune. "No." Her reply was dull. It was like she had lost all purpose to live
"Alicia! Are you there?" Eric called out. His voice was echoing as though he were now in an empty room. Someone was speaking to him in the background. "Oh, my God. Alicia?" Ella walked in. Alicia hadn't moved from her spot and she was now crying in silence. Ella stared from her face to the phone. Eric was continually calling out her name. "Hello?" Ella had picked up the phone which had now had crack maps all over, during it's impactful fall. Saved for the screen guard, she would have been left to change it’s screen afterwards. "Please, is my sister there?" Eric politely asked. It seemed he still had more messages to pass through but Alicia wasn't ready to move. The tears had blocked her vision and she was started to sniffle. What was it with the problems of her life?Glancing over at Alicia, Ella saw it must be a family issue. She could leave and let them get over with but Alicia wasn't looking herself. It was as if she had been dealt a heavy blow on the face, even if it had occur
“Good morning, Sir." Alicia stood and greeted from her desk when Michael came walking in. She had resumed as everyone else. Surely Michael would understand as he also came in late. He was looking from her desk with few files to her face, devoid of any injuries as they were covered up with excessive makeup. She still looked beautiful and it was worriedly surprising, seeing her there in the office exactly four days after the incident. "Aren't you supposed to be home. I thought i gave you a one month's leave." Michael uttered. His mind wondered as to why Alicia couldn't follow a simple order as pertaining to her recovery. She was always proving to be strong headed when all he was doing was for the benefit of herself and her health. And maybe for himself too. "I'm very much fine sir, thank you." She replied, looking him straight in the eyes until he was forced to glance elsewhere. Pathetic man! He couldn’t even look into her eyes because he knew he was guilty as charged, of what her ey
