How I met Your Grandmother

Edward settled down on the couch beside me. He rubbed at his wrinkled forehead in thought. "Your grandmother, my wife, she wasn't human," he said quietly and then glanced at Rakesh a moment before back to me. "I don't know what she was, she never explained it to me either. We met when I was much younger," he continued and leaned back into the couch.

I nodded slowly. It was a surprise to hear that my other grandmother wasn't human. This was the first time I had heard this, but then again, this was the first time learning I even had other grandparents. I wondered where she was now, if she wasn't human she'd surely be alive still, right? I didn't ask. I was sure I'd find out.

"It was a fairly dark night and I was driving home in my car after a long shift at my father's company," Edward began to explain to me. "That's when she ran out into the road, she was chased by someone and I suppose she must have seen my headlights and took the risk to dart across to get away
