AUTHOR'S POV

Between the brutal exchanges, Tessa managed to whisper, “Why did you bring me here, Pedro?” Her voice was a soft plea amidst the cacophony.

Pedro paused in his watchful stance by the barricade. He gently took her by the shoulder, drawing her close, and spoke in a low voice meant only for her. “I want to tell you a story, Tessa. A story of how I became the man I am today.”

Tessa looked up at him, her eyes filled with dread, yet she forced herself to listen. Pedro’s gaze turned distant as he began. “When I was a boy, my father—Don El Diablo Lorenzo—took me to a wrestling ring much like this one. It was dark, loud, and frightening. I remember the first time I saw men clash in battle. I saw blood spatter and heard the sound of bones breaking. I was terrified, but I also learnt something crucial that day. I learnt that life is cruel and unforgiving, and only those who can endure pain can survive. I learnt that strength is forged in fire and that fear must be faced head-on.”

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   The Ghost in Her Eyes

AUTHORS POVThe grand Lorenzo mansion stood in its cold elegance like it had alway been, bathed in the quiet of early evening except for the maids and guards roaming around. But within the stone walls of pedro’s room, the sweet silence was broken by the shattering of glass.Pedro stood in the centre of his room, his breath heaving, his chest rising and falling like a man barely keeping the storm within him contained. The desk lamp lay in pieces at his feet. One of the armchairs had been overturned, its cushions ripped. Books scattered across the floor—his father’s, his own, even the bed sheets and pillows had been sent flying to different corners. A portrait on the wall now hung askew, a hairline crack running through the glass. He paced in heavy steps, fists clenched, jaw tight.“She looked right at me,” he muttered, almost to himself. “Right in the eyes… and said she didn’t know me.”His voice cracked as he said it aloud. He ran a hand through his dark hair, tugging at the strands

  • RELUCTANT BRIDE FOR THE RUTHLESS BILLIONAIRE   Costly Mistake

AUTHORS POVClarissa reached across and hugged her. It was so soothing for Tessa as she eased in and simmered in the emotional moment. Then it dawned on her that she had said she had something to say.A few moments of tears and sobs had washed her memories away. She glanced toward the closed door, hearing the faint rustle of leaves and the children’s laughter drifting in. “Actually… I’m not sure I want to say it now.”Tessa’s eyes narrowed. “Clarissa, you promised.”Clarissa closed her eyes and took a breath. “All right.” She opened her eyes, meeting Tessa’s gaze. “This afternoon, at the plaza… while we were about to leave, Dean said he wanted to pee...” she paused, swallowed and continued,” So I offered to take him back inside to ease himself. Nothing prepared me for the next thing that happened”Te

Her family was back.Clarissa entered, guiding Dean by the hand and holding Sofia in her arms. The two children were flushed from their afternoon out, excited energy bubbling up in chatter and laughter.“Look at you two,” Tessa said, moving toward them. AUTHORS POV“Where to now?” Dean asked, licking his fingers.“Macroplaza,” she said. “The big square. You’ll see the lighthouse, statues, gardens. And there’s an ice cream truck there for second dessert.”“Best day ever,” Sofia whispered, already standing up.The Macroplaza was a wide, open stretch of beautiful landscaping and walkways. It was surrounded by important buildings—government halls, cultural centres, theatres. The children darted ahead, playing a game of pretend spies, ducking behind benches and statues.“That’s the Faro del Comercio,” Clarissa said, pointing to a tall red tower. “It lights up at night, shooting a green laser across the sky.”Dean’s eyes widened. “Really?”“Yes. They say if you make a wish while it’s glowing, it might come true.”Dean stared up, serious for a moment. “I think I’ll wait and wish when Mum’s here.”Clarissa softened. “That’s a good idea.”They walked slowly through the gardens, pausing at fountains and flower beds. The city felt alive around

Clarissa ordered sandwiches and fruit cups, and the three of them sat outside under a yellow umbrella, eating as the city pulsed gently around them.“Mum would love this,” Dean said between bites.“She’s probably in her meeting right now,” Clarissa replied.Dean gave a small sigh. “I wish she could come.”“She will, someday,” Clarissa said. “But today is yours, and you’ve got me.”“And me,” Sofia added, slurping her watermelon juice.Dean grinned. “I guess that’s not too bad.”After lunch, they made their way to the Museum of Mexican History.
