=Sera’s POV=

They were recruited by me because of the disability of the company because of what Julian and Carlos did. And somehow, it made my everyday lighter.

“First board meeting post-resolution is scheduled next week,” sabi ni Atty. Lim. “Most of the members are cooperative.

Damien was in front of me, standing so still, his forehead against mine but his eyes—God, his eyes—were full of something I couldn’t name. Pain? Desire? Love? Maybe all of it. And somehow, I forgot about the clause. “Say something,” he murmured. “Or tell me to stop.”Hindi ko alam kung alin ang mas nangingibabaw—ang takot na baka mawala siya, o ang init na nararamdaman ko sa bawat tingin niya. My chest rose and fell, fast and uncertain.“I don’t want you to stop,” bulong ko. “Not tonight.”His lips parted just a little, eyes searching mine. “Are you sure?”“Yes.”That was all it took.He crossed the room in two strides, then cupped my face with both hands. His lips were on mine—firm, warm, claiming—but not rough. There was hunger, yes, but there was reverence too, as if he was holding something fragile.I melted into him, my hands clutching the front of his shirt as he pulled me closer. His kiss deepene

=Damien’s POV=The silence in our bedroom was the kind I hated. Not the kind filled with tension or blame—but the kind that carried all the words she didn’t say.Sera lay beside me, eyes closed but breath uneven. She wasn’t asleep. Neither was I.Because Renzo had struck his first blow. And I let him.I stared up at the ceiling, fingers drumming against my chest. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone dug it up—the Echo Clause, our temporary marriage arrangement. I signed it when I still thought I could control everything. Before I knew Seraphina. Before she became more than a business move.More than a contract.I turned to face her, but she didn’t move. Her shoulder rose and fell gently with each breath, but her spine stayed straight. Composed. Guarded. She had every right. But I couldn’t let this stay between us.✴✴✴The next morning, I called Alvarez."Was Renzo the one who leaked the Echo Clause?" [No digital trail yet,] he answered. [But someone in Singapore sold a

=Sera's POV=The rooftop bar in Makati wasn’t my idea.It was his.Renzo Montalban.“You’ll appreciate the view,” he wrote in his email.Damien wasn’t thrilled. “Do not meet him alone,” he said that morning, stern but composed. “He doesn’t ask for meetings—he orchestrates them.”So now I sit across from him—Renzo. Clean-cut. Understated power in a slate suit. Eyes too sharp to be casual. Smile too polite to be sincere.“Ms. Navarro,” he greeted me, standing up as I arrived. “No Damien Vale tonight?”I met his gaze evenly. “This meeting’s about Navarro.”“And ValeCorp isn’t part of that equation?” he asked, chuckling as he gestured to the seat across from him. “Interesting.”I sat down, carefully placing my clutch on my lap. “Let’s get to the point, Mr. Montalban. What do you want from me?”“I like directness,” he said. “I want an alliance.”Napakunot ang noo ko. “Alliance?”“Navarro’s wounded. The public loves your story now, but sentiment fades. Memories fade. Especially when another

But peace, it seems, doesn’t come without a price. “That sounds… dramatic.”Damien chuckled beside me. “You did dismantle a corrupt board and hold your company’s legacy intact. Drama comes with the territory.”Nagpalit si Trish ng slide. “This next one, however, is why we called this meeting.”A screenshot appeared—an op-ed from a rival conglomerate’s CEO: Renzo Montalban of Aurelius Holdings."Navarro’s resurrection is admirable, but sentimental leadership is never sustainable."Napa-lean forward ako. “Sentimental?”Trish nodded. “He’s positioning himself. Media-savvy, we

Damien stood beside me, one hand on my lower back. Calm. Steady.I wasn’t.Inside, everything was buzzing.“Nandito na si Justice Ramirez,” sabi ni Alvarez habang sinusundan kami mula sa likod. “With two agents from the Anti-Graft Office. They’re waiting in the executive conference room.”Huminga ako nang malalim.Ito na. This was it.The end of the cover-ups. Navarro,” bati niya. “Mr. Vale. We appreciate your cooperation.”“Salamat po at dumating kayo agad,” sagot ko.Damien nodded. “You’ll find everything you need in the encr
