AARON'S POV:

As we stared at each other in the silence, I heaved a long, slow sigh. The kind that deflates irritation more than it releases it.

Baldwin.

He was the man she cheated on me with, multiple times and I only found out the day I proposed to her.

If it had been just a one-time mistake, maybe I could've found it in me to forgive her. I'm not heartless; I'm human.

But she cheated severely and repeatedly behind my back with the same man, all while smiling in my face like nothing was happening.

Her excuse back then?

She was 'keeping her options open.'

What a joke.

"He's alright," she responded in a low tone now, barely meeting my eyes, shaking her head as if preparing herself for pity I had no intention of giving.

"Didn't it work out with him?" I pushed, not because I cared but because I wanted to hear her admit it out loud. She shook her head firmly.

"He left me," she murmured, gaze dropping to the floor.

"Sorry, what was that? I didn't get you," I said, letting my sarcasm drip

  • WHITE CLOVER    Chapter 57: My mom set up (part 1)

Clover's POVA week later, it turned out that Williams had actually fired Louisa and ensured that she wouldn't be able to get a job in this place again.Because of this, Raquel had been a real pain in the neck, doing what she does best, picking on me at every little chance she gets.On this day, it was my stepdad's birthday. While there was a grand banquet going on somewhere downstairs, I was quietly holed up in my room, reading a book... since Kiera had practically pushed me aside to go have her own kind of 'fun.'I bet the fun she's having involves wooing my stepbrother... and honestly, it's not hard for her at all. She's got that charm that makes it effortless. All of a sudden, a knock sounded on my door.Assuming it would be Kiera checking in, I went to open the door, only to be amazed, it was my bitchy stepsister and my sweet mother standing there in the hallway.Ignoring Patricia completely, I smiled warmly at my mom, feeling a brief spark of comfort in her presence.Instantly,

  • WHITE CLOVER    Chapter 56: Wicked step grandmother (part 2)

Clover's POV:There's no way... no way in hell she'd find out about that kind of deeply buried information...Or else... she must have planted a little spy in that house to monitor my every move...Fuck... this was completely unexpected, catching me off guard in the worst possible way...She would go so far as to watch me even all the way to the Hanson mansion, invading every corner of my life.Like, I didn't think she'd stoop that low, resorting to such underhanded tactics...Like, why can't she just let me live my life in peace... what is her problem? The pain, the torment, the constant insults, is it not ever enough for her? Will she never be satisfied? From the looks of it... she may not have any solid proof of what she's accusing me of. Calhoun is never intimate with me in the halls or any public place within the mansion...Except if someone planted a CCTV camera in his room secretly... but I doubt it. He would figure it out easily; he cleans and inspects his room more metic

  • WHITE CLOVER    Chapter 55: Wicked step grandmother { part 1)

Clover's POV:As I stirred awake, the harsh knock on the door pulled me fully from my sleep. Making my way out of the bed, I rushed to the door and swung it open.Standing before me was Louisa, the housekeeper, a deep scowl etched on her face as she sized me up from head to toe with undisguised contempt.Louisa was my step-grandmother's loyal partner in crime when it came to sabotaging me at every turn.I had no clue why two old women could be so incredibly petty at times, harboring grudges that seemed to fuel their every action.I shot back the disdainful look she was giving me, refusing to let her intimidate me right from the start."Lunch is ready," she informed me curtly, before turning away and leaving without another word or even a hint of politeness. She could have easily sent one of the servants to pass on that simple message, but I understood perfectly well that she had come personally to check me out. It had been months since I'd last been here, long time no see, I thought

  • WHITE CLOVER    Chapter 54: I'm back!

Clover's POV:So let me get this straight, he has two daughters... and an ex-wife or lover...I guess they must have split up shortly after the children were born... That's the only scenario that makes sense for why one child doesn't even know him."Has she ever seen your face or have you made an attempt to pay a visit?" I asked carefully, watching his reaction. He shook his head slowly, his expression somber."If that's the case... then I'm sorry to say it, but you're a terrible father," I remarked curtly, the words slipping out before I could soften them. Not that I was truly judging him or anyone, for that matter. I didn't know the full story, what issues had arisen to cause the split and everything that followed."I guess I am," he muttered, his tone crisp and resigned. In a sudden halt, the car stopped smoothly. I glanced at him, perplexed, before staring out through the window. It was the café...He had pulled over right by the café roadside, back where it all started.I look

  • WHITE CLOVER    Chapter 53: Fake driver

Clover's POV:"Yes,""Alright... share your location... I'll have a chauffeur come pick you up."With that, he ended the call abruptly, not giving me a chance to protest or explain why I hadn't returned earlier. It was typical of him, controlling, dismissive. The moment the line went dead, I glared at nothing in particular, staring into the empty air as frustration bubbled up inside me.A second later, I shrugged it off. This man wasn't going to ruin my mood today. I was determined to enjoy the rest of my afternoon, no matter what. After sending him my location, I returned to sipping my coffee quietly, my eyes wandering as I observed the passersby on the street and the other customers in the café. I watched them keenly, taking in their hurried steps, their casual conversations, the way they interacted with the world around them. You could say that staring at people was a pastime for me, a harmless habit that helped me pass the time and sometimes even sparked my imagination about t

  • WHITE CLOVER    Chapter 52: A homeless girl

Clover's POV:As soon as I reached the lounge, the sliding doors parted smoothly with a quiet whoosh. The room was warm and quiet, filled with plush ivory seats and a long buffet of food that smelled amazing, fresh pastries, fruits, and dishes with rich buttery aromas.People typed on laptops, sipped champagne, or read newspapers like the busy world outside didn't exist at all."Good morning," a host greeted me with a polite smile. "Would you like a drink? Coffee, tea, wine, or champagne?"Champagne? At 9 a.m.?Rich people really lived in a different dimension, with different rules."Um... latte?" I managed to say, hesitating because I couldn't decide quickly. He nodded and gestured toward the seating area. When it came to choosing... no matter what it was, I was always too cautious... well, some would call it indecisiveness, but I call it hypersensitivity, I think too much about every option.I found a spot near the large window overlooking the runway. Planes gleamed in the morning
