After transferring my villa to my best friend, Dylan Truman, I'm told that I'm not even the owner. The villa under my name now belongs to someone else. How's this even possible? I'm the only son of the chairman of Livington Group. How can anyone else possibly have a claim to what belongs to my family? The employee hurls the property deed in my face, his voice dripping with contempt. "Here, see for yourself. The registered owner is Kenneth Johnson. It was transferred a few days ago, and Mr. Johnson's moving in today." This makes no sense. All of my family's property is registered under my name. Kenneth Johnson? Who the heck is that?

Chapter 1

My property transfer application was rejected because the ownership of the seaside villa, which was registered in my name, had been transferred to someone else last month.

How was that possible? Dad told me ages ago that everything in Livington Group belonged to me! How could this villa have changed hands right under my nose?

My best friend, Dylan Truman, and I exchanged glances, as if the air around us had suddenly frozen.

"Are you sure about that?" I suppressed my anger. "My house is Marabella Villa."

"How could Marabella Villa possibly have changed hands?" Dylan stomped his foot as well. Knowing the true depth of my family's wealth, he knew my family would never sell off any of our properties.

The employee rolled his eyes and snapped, "This villa was gifted by Zane Livington, the chairman of Livington Group, to his son. He personally came to handle the transfer, and all the paperwork is in order. Who even are you? If you're going to impersonate someone, at least come up with a plausible story!"

I was dumbfounded, as if someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over my head. My entire body went rigid, and it took me a long while to come back to my senses.

"Kenneth… Kenneth…" Dylan muttered under his breath. Then, as if something hit him, he exclaimed, "I know. He's your housekeeper's son! The one who always brought us fruit with a gloomy look on his face while we were playing in your room!"

Realization dawned on me. I had, in fact, seen someone like that before!

"He's not even related to your dad. Why on earth would he transfer the villa to him?" Dylan blurted out.

I, however, instantly realized the gravity of the situation. A chill shot up my spine, and I began to tremble.

Dad had no reason to give him this villa, unless… Kenneth Johnson was Dad's illegitimate son. When that thought crossed my mind, my fingernails dug deep into my palms as I clenched my fists, almost drawing blood.

"No way… Mr. Livington isn't that kind of person!" Dylan blanched. He was well aware of how loyal and faithful Dad had always been.

After Mom passed away, Dad had remained single. Countless beauties wanted to marry into my family and become my stepmother, yet Dad had never entertained the thought. He had told me that he would only love Mom in this lifetime—and the next.

However, what was I supposed to make of this illegitimate son who was about the same age as me? As it turned out, I had been kept in the dark all this time.

Dad claimed to be head over heels for Mom. Yet, it had all been an act.

He had fathered a child with another woman. What a disgusting hypocrite!

I was so furious that I trembled uncontrollably. My chest felt as though there was a giant boulder on it, making it difficult for me to breathe.

"Calm down!" Dylan held my hand firmly, attempting to calm me down.

I took several deep breaths and forced myself to regain my composure. Then, I pulled out my phone and called Dad. I wanted to hear how he was going to explain himself.

When my fifth video call went unanswered, my patience finally ran out, and my anger felt like it was about to explode. Gritting my teeth, I wished I could fly straight to him this second and confront him face-to-face.

I was about to snap when the call finally went through. That familiar, weary face filled the screen, weathered and crisscrossed with deep wrinkles.

My brows knitted together, and my expression was as dark as a storm cloud.
