Layton's POV: Honestly, I can’t even say how fucking pissed I was to have to drag myself away from Lelanna. I finally had her so close to me, literally in my arms, her beautiful soft lips curling into her incredible smile. My whole body was just so drawn to her like it wanted to sink into her skin. The whole time I was with her, my head was just thinking “fuck the world… fuck everyone else here… she’s all that matters right now”. Of course, I can’t blame Gabel, after all, I am the Alpha, and he is my guard and an unreplaceable one at that, and no doubt I would have kicked his ass if he didn’t tell me about the disturbance. Turns out some of the warriors patrolling near the village boarder could sense rogues, but by the time we had searched our forest territory and I had more warriors put in place in that area, I headed straight back to the ball to find Lelanna had already left with her parents, as Florence informed me and according to her she left looking rather happy. I wanted to q
Lelanna's POV: It had taken us a few weeks to get everything in place, especially as we wanted our plan to go undetected by any rogues that might be watching us. Patrol shifts had been doubled and I had been helping night and day to patrol the boarder, the city and the village, even Layton who usually, as an Alpha doesn’t take part in the patrol had been working tirelessly all day with his duties then doing patrols at night. He would usually take into his wolf form and patrol the edge of our forest and a little further beyond our treeline, as his wolf was black, he could blend into the dark forest without being seen. Every now and then we could sense rogues nearby, but they never came too close. Obviously they had sensed our extra warriors keeping watch, but we knew they were out there, listening, watching. Waiting to see what our next move would be and funnily enough it was exactly what we were doing with them. Zara had only managed to get small bits of information from Tina and a
I woke up early and got dressed into my armour to make an early start on the duties. It was my turn to head to the lake house and make sure everything there was running smoothly and to show our gratitude at all the warriors that had come. I was there for two hours, while they were all cleaning their weapons and readying their armour, some were shifting into their wolves in the large green garden at the back of the house training and keeping up their stamina Once I had done the rounds, I called Florence to meet me for a walk. I wanted to hear everything about her and her mate. I asked her to meet me in the village, I wanted to see Layton as little as possible today in hopes that I could reign in my feelings that had been rushing to the surface since I had come back here. Every time I saw him they just got stronger and stronger and I didn’t want to fall back into the way I used to be when I was younger, waiting and wishing that he would return my feelings. I jogged over to Florence as
I made my way to the Palace to meet with Heath and Adeena, as they were heading back to their pack tomorrow. It had been four months since they were last here and It was bittersweet that once again they were here because of a war. Heath was smartly dressed as usual in a grey fitted suit and navy tie with the pretty Adeena in her blue floral dress sitting next to him at the table in one of the Palace’s glass domes, eating their brunch with the sun beaming in, causing the tips of the red rose petals to glow. They greeted me with warm tired smiles as a maid laid out a fresh pot of tea for us all to share with baked scones and jams, the cooks and maids in this Palace are an absolute blessing with all the chaos that’s been happening around us, I thought as I thanked her before she left. “So how are you both feeling this morning?” I looked to them as I started to pour the tea in each of our cups. “Tired” Adeena responded with a yawn, just like them and probably everyone else in the pack,
After three days, I still hadn’t been able to stop reading Layton’s letter. Every time I went to bed, hell I couldn’t stop thinking about it no matter where I went or what I did! It had me in such a daze, a complete high, but an anxious one… As soon as i’d feel giddy inside, it would then turn into fear. There was still so much we needed to say… or at least I needed to say and, answers I needed to hear and, If I did tell him of my feelings for him then what? Would I be his partner temporarily or would he want me to be his Luna? A Luna… ME? That’s...... big… a lot… Huge!... Jeez, most women would kill or manipulate their way to the status and here I am letting it put me off the love of my life! I had gone to the Palace the very next morning after receiving Layton’s letter, only to be greeted by a guard who told me Layton, Galeb and three other palace guards had gone to visit Alpha Michaelson as part of the sentencing of the Maven cousins that he had taken to his pack as prisoners. I
I woke up a few hours later and as I checked the time on my phone to see it was 11am I also noticed a text from Layton asking me to meet him for lunch. I squealed with excitement like a smitten schoolgirl, and I didn’t waste a moment to reply. “Of course, where to?” “Come to the Palace in an hour. I’ll be in my study, we can eat on the balcony… if you’d like?” “Sounds perfect! see you soon” “Can’t wait, my love”. I put my phone next to me on the bed and once again a smile erupted across my face! An hour that gives me time to quickly have a shower and get ready! I quickly hopped out of bed and undressed for the shower. I decided today that instead of my usual armour or causal shorts and top, I opted for a pastel pink bodycon dress and my flat strapped sandals. I curled my hair and let it flow loosely over my shoulders, adding a touch of makeup. I grabbed my phone and keys and headed for the Palace. I could smell his beautiful masculine scent as soon as I reached the doors of his
Two days later, Layton had messaged me as soon as he was back at the Palace. While he was away, he had messaged me over and over telling me how much he missed me. So, to surprise him, I got dressed in a short black ruffle skirt and white silk blouse that clung to my skin, rushed down to the kitchen to make us some fresh sandwiches and coffee. I tapped on his office doors as I opened them and this time, to my relief, I wasn’t greeted by that woman on his desk. “heyyy” I called as I walked in and when his eyes landed on me, his mouth fell open and his eyes popped “wow” he whistled as I put our food down on his coffee table and waltz over to his desk. I sat and perched on the edge of it with him now standing in front of me “Damn I missed you” he growled as he grabbed my legs, pulling them to his sides and pressed his body against mine with his lips crashing down on mine. I automatically parted my lips for his tongue as he invaded my mouth in a deep and hungry kiss. Our bodies were mo
One Month Later. I woke up grinning from ear to ear, although I was missing the warm body that I had started to get used to waking up to. I had been spending most nights sleeping at Layton’s but last night he still had a lot to get done, now Tina’s sentencing was being dealt with. So I decided to stay at home, and waking up to his morning message telling me he missed me and loved me had me practically skipping to the shower even though I was slightly dreading the situation I was about to drag myself into. I had seen Zara a lot more over the last few weeks. I had stayed on to assist nurses with sedating Tina and I’d never leave without checking in on Zara and the more I saw her, the more vacant she started to look. No matter what we talked about, there never seemed to be any reaction or emotion from her and I’d always leave feeling glum. I put on my armour and made my way to the cells and, as always, one of the guards assisted me. As I approached the cells, Zara was sat on the cold
