I pull my leggings back on after Dean and I have our fun and look over at him while he pulls up his shorts. “I should probably go check in with Bert and Rick.” I tell him and he nods. “Let’s go to my dad’s office first and grab Issac and Gunner, they’ll want to come too.” He tells me and I nod.

They meet up with us on our way over there, their faces neutral and I can tell they want to say something, but don’t want to. I stop walking and give them a scrutinizing look, “What?” I ask them and Issac purses his lips. “Vera ran. When they went to capture her last night, she was already gone.” He explains and I nod having already expected that. For all we know Shelia gave her the heads up the second she saw me back.

We walk to the suv, and Dean drives us over to where all of Cora’s pack is staying. When we walk to the apartment Rick and Bert are staying, we hear arguing. “It’s not up to us! You’re going to have to work it out. We all are.” Rick shouts, and I hear a scoff. “There’d be nothing

My eyes fly open as soon as Cora’s wall comes down. Gunner grunts and pulls at something holding him into the wall. Issac sits next to me, his eyes wide with concern, but that’s as far as I get before something clamps around my neck and Issac’s no longer visible to me… My powers. Not again. Then I’m gone.A cloud of purple smoke disperses around me, but I can barely see it. There’s only one candle lit on the floor, everything else is just black.Black surrounds me, but I can still feel the hands of someone wrapped around my shoulders. Am I still in the same room? Is everyone else still here?“You’ve caused a lot of problems.” The witch sneers from behind me. I shake my shoulders to get out of her hold, and I hear a chain cling, and my head suddenly feels a lot heavier. I try to pull my head away, but the resistance of the chain stops me.She has me collared and chained. I yank at the chain, ignoring the itchy feeling crawling down my spine, but it’s useless. It’s gold. “Trust me, girl

We stand under the sun, everyone staring at Cora. Mitchell shifted last night when their birthday hit and the time hit twelve, but not Cora. She hasn’t shifted, and they all know why.Mitchell stands behind his family, his arms crossed, he glances up at the sky. “Maybe she’s not the Golden Wolf and she’s just defective.” He growls from behind them. His whole family turns towards him with a glare.“Mitchell, go inside if you can’t be happy for your sister.” His mom scolds him, but he grunts and throws his butt onto the ground.I turn back to Cora just in time to see her easily transform and become a Beautiful golden wolf. Her fur and eyes look almost the same as mine, but her coloring is just a bit darker. I stare at her in awe as she howls to the sun, then I look back at Mitchell. The awe on his face is obvious, but so is the hate so clearly written there. The rest of the family is excited for Cora, Lacy runs up to her petting her fur and giggling as she feels how soft she is. “She’s

“She’s been in there for a long time.” I whisper mostly to myself, but they all hear me. “You think something’s wrong?” Gunner asks, moving away from the door and closer to where we placed her on the couch across from Cora.I shake my head, “I… I don’t know. She’s worked through several minds at a time faster than this.” I tell him, and he looks down at her worriedly.“It took her hours her first time. Maybe Cora’s mind is more complex.” Jordan says from the window. No joking in his tone, it’s not a dig at us for having less complex minds, it’s fear… He’s worried about her. My teeth scrap together as I think of something to do. I hate not knowing things. I hate that I wasn’t there when she discovered she could do this so I could research anything possible on it so I could help her.“Maybe if I grabbed her, I could join her… Help her?” Dean suggests, moving closer to her as well.I look over him, he looks better now than he did in the war room, but would this be too much for him if it’

Issac walks up to my side, “We need to be careful. There’s a witch around here somewhere. I’ve haven’t seen her since she removed our marks, but I’m sure she’s here. Our marks aren’t the only ones she would have had to remove.” Issac whispers and I swallow thinking about that pain again and hating that other people have had to go through it as well.Hopefully, it did to them what it did to me and let them know that even if they weren’t next to them, they were still out there somewhere… Alive.Issac wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me close as we continue to walk towards Cora. Sensing the pain I feel at the memories. “Never again, Sunshine.” He whispers, and I wipe away the tear that runs down my cheek unwillingly.I need to be strong right now. I can’t show this weakness. Not right now.Apparently, Cora’s room is on the top floor of the castle all by herself. That might just make things easier. All the guards being distracted by the upcoming war is making things even easier, I’

“Woah. What was that?” Jordan asks amazed as the bolt of power races away from us, just like it has every time we’ve had to do this. Personally, I’m getting tired of seeing it. I want us to never see it again; I want these marks to be the last ones we have to place on each other.“Power.” Justin whispers looking at us in awe as well. I nod. “That’s awesome.” Jordan whispers and I chuckle shaking my head.I look outside the ball of fire; more guards have indeed come in, but not enough to hinder us. I look over at Dean, and he reaches his hand out for mine. “Let’s practice.” He says with a smirk, and I nod grabbing his hand.I release the forcefield of fire and all of them instantly start piling in the room, but while everyone else gets ready to fight, Dean and I close our eyes. I lead him into the mind, showing him how it’s done, then we work as a team, filing through their minds until we’ve hit every one of them.I slowly open my eyes, hoping it worked, and when I do I see a bunch of
