LOGINZane’s POV
I was already on my way to Emma’s place, knowing exactly why she wanted me there. Part of it was because she needed me, and the other part was to keep me out of Maddie’s way while she was out with her date. Not that I cared, I had planned to see Emma tonight anyway. On the way, I picked up a bottle of wine, figuring she might want it.
When I knocked, she opened the door almost instantly.
“Did you miss me, beautiful?” I asked with a grin. “Not really,” she said, laughing. “Liar,” I teased, shaking my head. She stepped aside, letting me in. I shut the door, turned, and drew her against me. Her breath caught the same way it had last night when our bodies touched.
“Why are you wearing so many layers?” I asked, tugging at the tie of her robe.
“I was cold,” she said with a little shrug. “I can take care of that,” I murmured, reaching for it again. She swatted my hand away and shook her head.
Seriously? She was the one who had called me here. I raised an eyebrow, waiting. “What? Can we at least have some wine first?” she said, rolling her eyes. She snatched the bottle and walked off toward the kitchen.Fine. One glass. I followed her and stopped at the doorway, just in time to watch her stretch for glasses. Her robe lifted slightly, giving me the perfect view. From what I could tell, she was not wearing much at all underneath. So much for being cold.
I stepped up behind her. When she dropped back onto her feet, her hips brushed mine.
She gasped and turned with a look. “You could at least say something first.” “Thought you said you were cold,” I said, my hands finding her waist. “I am,” she smirked, that playful spark lighting up her eyes. “Then why does it look like you have nothing on under there?” I teased. “Wouldn’t you love to know?” she shot back. “Wine first… then maybe I will let you find out.”That had my full attention. Confidence suited her. I liked when she got carried away around me, but this side of her, this playful control, was turning me on even more.
I reached for the tie again, testing her.
“No. Do that again and this robe stays on all night,” she warned. “You are cruel,” I said with a pout. “I know,” she grinned, swatting my hand away again before heading to the living room.I chuckled under my breath and followed. She was already on the sofa with two glasses, one stretched toward me.
I dropped beside her and downed mine in a single gulp. Emma narrowed her eyes, seeing straight through me. “You said one glass. I had one glass,” I reminded her with a grin. “Yes, but I have not even finished mine,” she teased, sipping slowly, deliberately. She was playing games. And she was winning. Patience was not something I had in me. She leaned back, crossing her legs. The robe shifted higher, revealing smooth skin that begged for my touch.
I placed my hand on her thigh, letting my fingers slide beneath the robe. She stiffened slightly, but her body betrayed her with the way she drew in a breath. I bent closer and pressed my lips to her neck, trailing kisses along her skin. She moaned softly, tilting her head back, giving me more.
My hand drifted higher, rubbing between her thighs. I felt lace under my fingertips.
“You are worse than a desperate girl in heat,” she giggled.I pulled back, meeting her eyes.
“Did you really just call me that?” I asked, raising a brow.
“You know what I meant,” she said with an eye roll.“Anyway… is that lace I feel?” My fingers already knew the answer.
“Maybe. If you had been patient, you would have gotten the surprise. I was planning on giving you a whole show,” she said, smug. “I would still watch every second, baby,” I winked. “Nope. Too late. You ruined it,” she teased with a shrug.“Stop being cruel,” I pouted, before adding with a low growl, “I’ll make it up to you.”
“And how exactly are you planning to do that?” she asked, turning fully toward me. “Take off the robe and I’ll show you,” I said, my voice deeper than I intended.Emma stood in front of me, her smirk daring me to push further.
“You had better make it worth my while… or I might just ban you from touching me tonight,” she teased.I leaned forward, the way she was talking making the ache in my jeans even harder to ignore.
“Trust me, Emma. You remember what I can do with my tongue,” I said, licking my lips slowly. She shivered, her body remembering even if her words pretended otherwise. Her fingers went to the tie at her waist, loosening it with a slow tease. The robe slid off her shoulders and dropped to the floor.
What I saw nearly wrecked my control. A red and black lace babydoll clung to her curves like it was painted on, open at the stomach, sheer over her cleavage, showing off every inch of her body.
“Oh, damn,” I groaned, staring at her like she was the only woman on earth. My mouth parted, my chest tight, and my jeans strained painfully against me.
“That is the sexiest thing I have ever seen,” I said, gripping her hips and pulling her between my legs.
“I thought you might like it,” she purred.“Can I tell you a secret?” she asked, leaning close.
I nodded, already running my hands along her curves, squeezing the perfect shape of her ass. Her chest brushed my face, and I was not complaining. “I have a closet full of these,” she whispered against my ear. “Maybe one night, I’ll give you your own Victoria’s Secret runway show.” Her teeth grazed my skin, and I swore I nearly lost it.Where the hell did this wild side come from?
I pulled her down onto my lap, groaning, “Baby, is that a promise?”
“We will see, won’t we, sexy?” she breathed, her lips brushing mine without quite kissing.“Now… did you not say you were going to make it up to me for being impatient?”
“Oh, I am going to,” I growled, pushing her back onto the sofa in one motion.“You are mine for the rest of the night,” I told her, hovering above her, my body already claiming her.
She had no idea what I was about to do. But by the end of tonight, she would be screaming my name again and again.
Raymond’s POVThe moment I saw Bella again, I recognized her immediately. We first lived beside each other twenty-six years ago. She was just three then. I was older, and at first I did not want anything to do with her. She followed me everywhere I went, talking and trying to keep up. It irritated me until I realized that her mother was hardly ever home. I did not know every detail of their situation, but I could tell Bella was left to handle life on her own most of the time. The very first day we met, she was sitting on the steps outside their house, playing with a few worn toys. I walked past, and she jumped up and came running toward me.“My name is Bella,” she said, holding out her tiny hand.I did not stop. She hurried beside me anyway, telling me how happy she was to finally have someone nearby her age.“I am not your friend. You should go back home,” I told her when I finally turned around. The expression on her face made something twist inside me, but I did not want to grow cl
BellaI closed my eyes and rested my forehead against the door. That woman always knew how to ruin my day. Memories of her came rushing back, how I had to clean up after her when she was too drunk to stand, how I burned myself cooking because she had left groceries lying around but never made a meal. Other times, I went to bed with nothing but water in my stomach and a prayer on my lips. She said we had no family. I had no reason to doubt her because no one ever showed up for me. Ron never came to my school events, and I always found excuses for her absence. When my classmates’ parents filled the seats at school plays and parent-teacher meetings, mine were always empty. She never cared about those things. What mattered to her were the men she brought home because they paid her bills.I once asked her about my father, hoping she would tell me something kind, something I could hold on to. All she said was that he left because I was a spoiled little brat. When she drank too much, even se
VeronicaI took his advice seriously. I had a habit of thinking too much, but Rex was not someone worth losing sleep over. As annoying as Raymond could be, he often made more sense than I wanted to admit. I turned to face him and stretched out my hand.“Can I have that back now, please?” I asked, pointing at the ring on his left hand.“Oh, Bella, you cannot just propose to someone and then ask for the ring back, especially after I already accepted,” he said with a teasing smile.“That is not what I did,” I replied quickly. “I only wanted to keep him from seeing it. I never asked for your hand in marriage, and you know that. Now, give it back.”Before he could answer, the door opened, and a graceful older woman walked in. Behind her was another woman dressed in a nurse’s uniform that did not belong to our hospital.“Raymondbl, son, I am so glad you are awake,” the woman said warmly. “I brought someone to meet you. This is Elise. She will be taking care of you from now on.”“I do not ne
Bella’s PovHe caught me off guard. I had assumed he was asleep, or maybe he had been, and I was not as quiet as I thought. I leaned away from the door and moved closer to his bed. His face was badly swollen and covered in bruises, so it was hard to recognise him. His eyes were a soft shade of grey, his hair a tangled mess, and his lips dry and cracked. He looked like someone who had been through a terrible fight.“Moody, aren’t you?” I asked, studying him carefully. Those eyes looked familiar. Where had I seen them before?“I am not moody,” he said in a low, rough voice. “I am just tired of you nurses thinking you know everything.”“Well, I am not thrilled about being here either,” I replied. “And honestly, when it comes to medical care, I think we might know a little more than you do.”“You think you know more than the doctor?” he muttered. “Go away. I want to be alone.”Julie was right, he was rude. But I was not going to let him push me around.“Too bad,” I said. “You are stuck wi

Zane’s PovWhen I got home from work, all I wanted was to see my girls. It felt impossible to believe that Bella was already a month old. The weeks had gone by so quickly, though they were far from easy. The first two were especially hard. Bella would not stop crying unless someone was walking around with her. But lately, she had been much calmer. We had managed to build a small routine, which made a big difference.Emma had struggled at first. She barely slept and even developed insomnia. The doctor said it was common for new mothers, but watching her wander the house at three in the morning, even when Bella was fast asleep, had worried me. Thankfully, she was doing better now. Despite how hard it had been, she never once stopped being gentle and patient with Bella. Seeing her care for our daughter made me fall in love with her all over again.I did not call out when I got home, in case they were both asleep. The doctor had kept reminding Emma to rest whenever Bella did, and she had
