Chapter 4

Author: Little Hedgehog
Liam stared at me, completely baffled. “Diana, what’s wrong with you? Stop acting crazy and come with me. Didn’t you come here today to apologize?”

He reached out and grabbed my wrist. “Sharon is outside right now. Let’s go!”

Just as I was about to pull away, another hand appeared out of nowhere, firmly gripping his wrist. “Let go!”

Liam turned around and froze when he saw Sigmund. “Uncle?”

“I said, let go!” Sigmund’s voice was cold, and with a sharp twist, Liam winced in pain and released his grip.

Taking the opportunity, I quickly stepped to Sigmund’s side, pouting dramatically. “Honey, he yelled at me and even grabbed me! Look at this!”

I pressed my fingers lightly against my wrist, revealing a red mark.

Sigmund’s expression immediately darkened.

Liam was dumbfounded. “What did you just call him? Honey?”

“I’ve already told you,” I said smugly. “I’m your aunt-in-law right now. Shouldn’t you kneel and apologize to me?”

Liam stared at me, his eyes wide with disbelief. “What are yo

“Yes, it’s a confession. Will you accept it?” I smiled and replied, “I will. Let’s give it a try.” We exchanged a knowing smile before Sigmund leaned down and kissed me. Just then, the door suddenly opened. “Dia, I—” My mom’s voice cut in. I practically leapt away, my face burning. She stood in the doorway, awkwardly laughing. “Oh, um, I just remembered something. I’ll step out for a bit. You two enjoy yourselves.” She quickly shut the door and disappeared. Feeling embarrassed, I smacked Sigmund on the arm. “This is your fault! She saw us!” “Doesn’t matter. She’ll understand. After all, I’ve been single for so many years!” I was completely stunned. I couldn’t believe he was saying something like that at his age.I playfully swatted his back and dragged him home with me.As it turned out, despite his age, Sigmund’s stamina was impressive—I was still weak in the knees the next day.Sigmund kept his word too. He made me the most influential person in the Hopkins family. E

Liam’s face turned ashen. Taking a deep breath, I said, “Leave. There will never be anything between us again. And next time you see me during the holidays, remember your place.”Liam tried to step forward, but I stopped him. “No matter how hard you try, I’ll never look back.”I had already made my choice. I didn’t know how long this arrangement with Sigmund would last, but at that moment, I realized being with him wasn’t so bad.Liam’s face grew pale as he stumbled away, looking utterly defeated. Watching his retreating figure, I let out a long sigh of relief. When I returned inside, I was surprised to find Sigmund there as well.“You said you weren’t coming,” I said, startled.“The meeting got canceled, so I thought I’d drop by.”My mom lit up the moment she saw him, tapping me on the shoulder. “You silly girl, this is his mother-in-law’s house—he’s welcome anytime!”She hurried off to fetch another set of utensils, clearly thrilled. Meanwhile, Sigmund glanced at me and said, “Don’

I nodded. “We’ve talked it out, but he doesn’t seem willing to end things peacefully.”Hearing this, Sigmund immediately wrapped his arm around my waist. “Liam, when you see my wife from now on, show some respect. If there’s a next time, I won’t hesitate to send you overseas.”Liam froze, clearly stunned, while Sigmund led me out without another word. My belongings were packed up and taken by the bodyguards.Once we returned, Sigmund went straight to his study to work, while I collapsed onto the bed, letting out a long sigh of relief. My phone buzzed incessantly with messages from Liam, full of apologies and pleas for forgiveness. He even had the audacity to suggest I leave Sigmund.Scoffing, I took a screenshot of his messages and unblocked Sharon just long enough to send them to her. “Your dear friend doesn’t seem to want to let go of me. Please handle him.”After sending the message, I blocked her again, along with Liam. The two of them could spiral together for all I cared. After

He always used to say things like, "Whatever you like, it’s up to you," or, "It’s just a place to sleep and eat. There’s no need to put too much thought into it." He never understood how much joy I took in creating a home. But now, I was reclaiming all of it. Sigmund, standing nearby, said in his calm voice, "We can decorate our home too." I paused, surprised. Our home? Was he serious? "And one more thing. We haven’t filed for the marriage certificate yet." His words caught me off guard, but before I could respond, there was a loud crash. The door had swung open, and the sound of shattering glass echoed in the room. I turned to see Liam standing there, his bloodshot eyes fixed on me, and a vase I’d painstakingly picked out lying in pieces on the floor. “You!” he snarled. I grabbed Sigmund’s arm. “Go to the other room. I need to talk to him.” “Alright. Call me when you’re done,” he said simply, strolling to the study and closing the door behind him. I stayed in the

Jasmine forced a strained smile. “My sister-in-law is absolutely right.”The way she bit out “sister-in-law” was practically dripping with venom, and I could see the hate burning in her eyes. But I didn’t care. I wanted her to hate me and be powerless to do anything about it. Even Mary had made it clear: the Hopkins family now relied on Sigmund, and as his wife, I held a position of influence. We hadn’t even agreed on the ground rules yet, but I already knew I could whisper sweet nothings in Sigmund’s ear and sway his decisions if I wanted to. The thought put me in an excellent mood, and I enjoyed the rest of the meal immensely. After lunch, Sigmund and I left together. Just as I got into the car, a message popped up on my phone from Liam, “We need to talk.”Talk? What a joke. Who did he think he was to demand a conversation with me? I ignored him. Before I could dwell on it, I noticed Sigmund adding me to a group chat. “What’s this? A family group chat? Why am I in your family
