POV: Ethan

The elevator chimed and opened onto the grand ballroom floor, light spilling through the hallway like liquid gold. I adjusted the cuffs of my shirt, feeling the soft pull of the silk against my wrists. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I told myself I didn’t care.

But I did.

My steps faltered when I saw her. Amelia. She'd left our suite earlier that I did. I had been sleeping.

She stood under the chandelier like a dare. That dress—black, sleek, cutting low down her back and hugging every curve like it had been stitched with sin in mind. Her hair was swept up, messy in that way she knew made men stare.

And she was laughing, very loudly and, breathy, leaning just a little too close to Marco, of all people.

I stopped walking.

There was a bitter twist in my stomach, something sour I couldn’t name. She hadn’t even looked in my direction yet, and still, I felt her everywhere. Like a static current under my skin.

"You let her do that to you now?" Sienna slid beside me, voice all su

POV: AmeliaWe did not infact keep our hands to ourselves."Fuck, I'm dripping wet." I said the moment we made it to the elevators. To be fair, I was already tipsy.Ethan groaned like I was hurting him. "don't say stuffs like that and expect me to keep my hands to myself, Woman."The elevator doors slid shut with a soft chime, cutting off the distant hum of music from the ballroom. I stood beside Ethan, arms crossed tight over my chest, trying not to look at him. My breath still hadn’t evened out. My lips still tingled. My heart was a mess.I hated the way he always did this—showed up, threw me off balance, kissed me like he needed me more than air—and then left me to piece myself back together. He didn’t touch me now, didn’t speak either, but the space between us buzzed. Charged. I couldn’t keep still. I shifted from foot to foot, clutching the small purse in my hands like it held all my composure. The elevator seemed to take forever. When the doors finally opened to our floor, I wal

“Amelia?”Her name slipped out before I could stop it. The space beside me was empty, the bedsheets cool and bunched. Only the faintest trace of her scent lingered on the pillow—something floral and familiar, like jasmine on warm skin. I sat up slowly, blinking against the thin morning light that leaked through the curtains. I waited for a sound, well the creak of the bathroom door, the distant clang of dishes in the kitchen, a footstep but nothing came.I got out of bed and pulled on the closest shirt, wincing as I put weight on my leg. The old injury still liked to remind me it was there. I limped through the hallway, calling her name again.“Amelia?”The guest room was empty. So was the kitchen, the patio. Even the laundry room, though I didn’t know what I was expecting to find there.By the time I stepped outside, my chest felt tight with unease. The air smelled of salt and sun, the sky too clear, too still for the way my thoughts raced. Something didn’t feel right. And then I he

Amelia's pov “Don’t.”I felt him still behind me for just a beat, like he couldn’t quite believe I’d said it. Then his hands tightened on my hips, and his breath came out in a low, harsh rush against my ear.“Don’t what?” he murmured, breathing heavily.I swallowed hard, gripping the cool metal of the terrace railing as what I’d just said settled in my chest.“Don’t stop,” I whispered. That was all it took.He cursed under his breath, pressing himself flush against me, his chest warm and solid at my back. His hands slipped under the hem of my sweater, dragging it up and over my head. The night air was cold on my bare skin, but his palms followed close behind, smoothing up my ribs to cup my breasts.“God, Amelia,” he groaned, burying his face in my neck, inhaling me like he couldn’t get enough. “You have no idea what you do to me.”My head fell forward as his thumbs brushed over my nipples, sending a sharp jolt straight through me.“Ethan,” I breathed. One of his hands trailed down, o

POV: Ethan"Where the hell did she go?"That was the first thought that cut through the morning haze as I stirred and found the other side of the bed cold and empty.I sat up slowly, running a hand over my face. My body still ached pleasantly from the night before, but the sting of her absence burned hotter than anything else. Her pillow was untouched. She hadn’t even pretended to lie back down.I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and pushed myself upright, muttering under my breath. “Figures…”The cane clicked against the floor as I made my way to the bathroom, then dressed quickly. My shirt was wrinkled, my tie knotted haphazardly — but all I could think about was where she’d gone, and why she hadn’t bothered to wake me.When I finally limped into the dining room, the clatter of cutlery and low murmur of voices filled the air. And there she was.She was sitting at a corner table near the windows, the morning light catching on the soft waves of her hair. My heart tightened at the

Amelia's pov "You should leave, Sienna."The sound of his voice startled me more than her presence ever could.I’d only come to the doorway to tell her myself, to tell her to get out of my room and out of my life. But the words never made it past my lips, because Ethan beat me to it — and he didn’t even raise his voice.Sienna went still where she stood, one manicured hand resting on the back of my chair, a faint, self-satisfied smirk still playing on her lips. It faltered now, her stare darting between the two of us as though she couldn’t quite believe she’d heard me correctly. Her laugh was short and brittle. “I’m sorry… what did you just say?”Ethan straightened slowly, one hand gripping his cane like it was the only thing holding him up. He met her eyes squarely, his expression flat, his words calm and unshakable.“I said,” he repeated, “you should leave. Now.”It landed like a blow.I could actually see her chest rise sharply as she sucked in a breath. But then her sharp little
