“What are you thinking about?” Gu Chi’s deep and melodious voice suddenly spoke next to her ear.

Su Kexin returned to the present and hastily forced a smile. “It’s nothing.”

Suddenly, she remembered something and added, “Oh right, I have to go have dinner with my father tomorrow night, so you don’t have to prepare dinner for me anymore.”

“Alright,” Gu Chi replied, pausing before he added, “If there’s time, I should go visit your parents as well.”

Su Kexin blinked and blurted, “There’s no need for that.”

Su Kexin raised his brows slightly.

Only then did Su Kexin realize that she had not responded appropriately. Rather awkwardly, she said, “My parents… aren’t on very good terms… and my mother… isn’t very healthy either, so…”

Gu Chi saw how Su Kexin seemed to be panicking in front of him, and his lips curved imperceptibly.

Su Kexin did not know this, but he had investigated her family background ages ago.

"Is that so?" He did not reveal the truth, though, saying with a calm expression, "Still, if you have the time, I'd like to bring you to meet my family."

Su Kexin blinked for a bit.

This was the first time Gu Chi had mentioned his family to her.

"Do you want me to meet your parents?" Su Kexin ventured carefully.

"My parents have passed away."

Su Kexin felt somewhat awkward. "Sorry."

"No worries." There was no change in Gu Chi's expression. "When we have time, I'll take you to meet my grandfather and my older brother. It just so happens that my brother's son is getting married soon."

Another one getting married?

Su Kexin smiled bitterly.

Was it a good time of the year or something? Why was everyone in a rush to get married?

"Yeah, sure." Since she was married to Gu Chi, it was only polite to meet his family members. Su Kexin was not going to decline this.

Gu Chi nodded slightly and the two of them proceeded with dinner. Nothing happened for the rest of the night.

The next day, Su Kexin endured the torture until after work, and then she took a cab to the Lin Family manor.

As soon as she got out of the car, she saw a girl in a bright yellow dress running toward her happily.

"Big Sis! You're finally here!" The girl grabbed Su Kexin's hand and gave her a sweet smile, saying intimately, "Come on in! I wanna introduce you to my fiance."

Su Kexin looked at the breathtakingly pretty Lin Xiaoru next to her, and she pursed her lips slightly. "The Gu Family's Little Young Master, huh?"

Lin Xiaoru paused and chuckled softly. "So Dad already told you. Ah, but don't mention the Gu Family when you meet him later. He hates it when people mention his family background."

Although she said that, there was no hiding the pride in Lin Xiaoru's eyes.

Su Kexin just smiled at her.

Lin Xiaoru was a vain person, and Su Kexin knew that since she was a child. It must not be easy for Lin Xiaoru right now, since she managed to snag the Gu Family's Little Young Master but could not show off about it.

Still, the Gu Family was something Lin Xiaoru could reasonably brag about.

S City had three main families, the Gu Family, the Cheng Family, and the Ji Family. All three had a longstanding history of fame and wealth, completely unlike the nouveau-riche like the Lin Family.

As for the Gu Family's Little Young Master, he was the only son of the Gu Family's First Young Master. It seemed he had been studying overseas this entire time, so outsiders did not know his name.

As Su Kexin was musing it over, Lin Xiaoru was already pulling her into the manor impatiently.

Inside the living room, there was a straight and slender back sitting on the couch, facing her.

Lin Xiaoru pulled her over and said excitedly, "Han, let me introduce you! This is my older sister. We might have different mothers, but she really is my birth sister, you know!"

Han?

Su Kexin's body stiffened slightly and she raised her head to see the man before her smiling. "Huh. To think Xiaoru's sister is someone I know very well."
