It was Gu Yihan.

Su Kexin turned abruptly pale, as though she had been struck by lightning.

Why did it never occur to her that Lin Xiaoru's fiance would be Gu Yihan?

Wait a second.

Her father Lin Haisheng said that Lin Xiaoru's fiance was the Gu Family's Little Young Master, right? How could it be Gu Yihan?

Could it be…?

Su Kexin turned even paler.

Just then, Lin Xiaoru acted surprised while she held onto Su Kexin's arm. Suddenly, she smiled and said, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Han used to study at Z University too, right? He was studying journalism too, so he must be your senior, Big Sis."

Su Kexin did not say anything. She just stared at Gu Yihan without blinking.

It was obvious that Gu Yihan was not at all surprised to see her here.

That made sense. After all, back when they were dating, she had told Gu Yihan that she was the Lin Family’s illegitimate daughter.

That meant that he knew Lin Xiaoru was her sister and insisted on marrying her anyway, huh?

Hah.

Her first love from back then was now her brother-in-law. What a joke.

“That’s right, we do know each other.” Su Kexin forced down the bitterness in her heart and put on a calm tone as she said, “It’s just we haven’t seen each other for a long time now.”

Su Kexin’s distant attitude made Gu Yihan’s pupils dilate slightly.

Just then, an elegant wealthy-looking middle-aged woman walked out of a room. When she saw Su Kexin, her smile stiffened slightly, but she still said, “So you’re here, Kexin.”

Su Kexin’s expression turned cold when she saw that woman too, but she said, “Hi, Aunt Jiang.”

That woman was Jiang Ling, her father’s wife and Lin Xiaoru’s mother, but not Su Kexin’s mother.

Her mother was still lying in the hospital and barely relying on medication to stay alive.

All of them walked into the dining room, and Su Kexin’s father Lin Haisheng was already sitting there. His expression did not change at all when he saw the daughter he had not met for months. He just nodded his head in lieu of a greeting.

Jiang Ling was busy preparing dinner in the kitchen, while Lin Xiaoru and Gu Yihan were intimately feeding each other fruits in the living room. Suddenly, Lin Haisheng said, “Kexin, come for a walk in the garden with me.”

Su Kexin did not want to stay here to watch Gu Yihan and Lin Xiaoru’s public displays of affection either, so she nodded and stood up.

“How’s your mother lately?” Lin Haisheng said after they came to a stop in the garden.

“The same as ever.” Su Kexin’s expression remained unchanged.

“Her medical fees should cost quite a lot. If you need anything—”

“There’s no need for that,” Su Kexin interrupted him before he could complete that sentence. “I can handle it myself.”

Lin Haisheng frowned, “Why do you have to be so stubborn, Kexin? It’s not like our family can’t afford it.”

The innate sense of superiority and generosity he said when he said that made Su Kexin’s heart extremely uncomfortable.

“We really don’t need it.” She forced down her unhappiness. “If you give us any more money, Aunt Jiang will make a fuss again, right? I don’t want anyone running over to the hospital and causing a scene again.”

Lin Haisheng looked awkward for a second, and he wanted to say something more, but when he raised his head and looked behind Su Kexin’s shoulder, his expression suddenly changed. “Young Master Gu?”

Su Kexin raised her head and saw Gu Yihan walking over to them, his hands in his pockets.

“Uncle.” Gu Yihan was always so gentle in front of outsiders. “I have something I want to talk to Big Sis about, may I?”

Lin Haisheng blinked but nodded anyway and walked back inside on his own.

As soon as Lin Haisheng left, Su Kexin tried to walk away too, but Gu Yihan immediately grabbed her hand and stopped her.

“What’s the matter, Su Kexin? Does it not bother you at all that I’m now your brother-in-law?” Gu Yihan lowered his head to look at Su Kexin, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

“Do you want me to be bothered?” Su Kexin looked at Gu Yihan coldly. “Or rather, should I call you Little Young Master Gu?”

Gu Yihan squeezed Su Kexin’s hand and suddenly applied force, turning Su Kexin’s fair skin red.
