Chapter 260

Author: Hello Spring
Tim gave a cheerful smile. “Ms. Smith, if there’s any part of the terms you don’t agree with, you can raise them individually.”

“None of them sit right with me,” Liz replied evenly.

“This…” Tim looked over at Zac, clearly embarrassed.

Zac gave him a glance. “Step outside.”

Tim looked from Liz to Zac, then started to rise. But before he could leave, Liz’s voice cut coldly across the room. “Mr. Lincoln, you came here today to discuss the fact that your fiancée hired someone to have me kidnapped, which led to my accident. If your lawyer isn’t present, then there’s nothing to talk about.”

She stood as if to leave.

“Wait.”

Zac’s voice was low. “Fine. Then let Mr. Chapman continue with you.”

Liz shot him a glance before sitting back down.

The negotiation dragged on for over an hour before Liz finally got the outcome she wanted.

“As long as you meet these conditions, I’ll sign the letter of forgiveness. But once she has the baby, she’ll still face sentencing.”

But because Liz had moved so quickly, a photo slipped out of the album and fell to the floor.Of all things, it was the one of her in a frilly pink princess dress, flashing a peace sign at the camera.Liz glanced down at it, ready to grab it, when William’s hand reached it before she could. She immediately reached for it, but William pulled his hand back just out of reach.“William, give it back!” Liz demanded.Of all the pictures, he had to see this one? It was pure social death. He looked down at the photo and chuckled. “It’s cute. Why didn’t you want me to see it?”“Cute?” Liz stared at him in disbelief. Was he seriously using that word? Did he have no idea what cute actually meant? That picture was the worst of her worst blackmail material.“Yeah,” he said easily. “Really cute.”His eyes lowered, catching sight of her mismatched slippers—only one on her foot. His gaze flickered as he stepped closer, handing the photo back to her.Liz snatched it and shoved it into the al

As for the conditions Liz had laid out, Zac was ready to agree to every single one of them.Tim had no words.Zac didn’t even glance at him. Instead, he spoke to the driver. “Back to the office.”The car had barely started when Zac’s phone rang. Seeing Xena’s name, his brows furrowed. He answered with an icy expression. “What is it?”“Zac, how did the talk with Ms. Smith go between you and Mr. Chapman? Did she agree?”“It’s settled. She’ll sign the letter of forgiveness.”“Really? That’s wonderful!”Zac’s face darkened, his tone as cold as ice. “Wonderful? Do you really think hiring someone to hit her with a car and kidnapping her can be brushed aside so easily?”On the other end, silence stretched for more than ten seconds before Xena’s voice came back, thick with tears.“Zac, I…I know I was wrong. I lost my head. I’ll never do something like that again.”Zac turned his gaze to the window, his profile unreadable. “Since you know you were wrong, then you’ll apologize to her p

When Liz told Hunter she didn’t want to go inside, he mentioned that the girl dining with them had a crush on William and that the two of them were close friends.Liz wasn’t sure what she was thinking at the time, but after hearing that, she followed Hunter in.The moment she laid eyes on Riley, she knew Hunter was telling the truth. Her instincts told her Riley liked William. And it wasn’t just that. Liz could see Riley came from a powerful family, with both influence and capability. Against someone like her, Liz stood no chance. She pushed the thought aside with a quiet breath and closed her eyes to rest. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep. When she woke again, it was already the middle of the night. She sat up, her stomach rumbling loudly. A glance at her phone told her it was 3:40 a.m.Rubbing her flat, hungry belly, she got up to wash her face and then headed to the kitchen. On the counter, she found the dinner Mrs. Wood had left warming for her.Her lips pressed

“She’s not into boys who are… small.”Hunter blinked. Was William saying Liz didn’t like younger men, or was that a jab at him below the belt? Before Hunter could speak, William turned and walked out.Riley’s face darkened. She quickly stood up to follow.“William, that girl isn’t right for you.”William stopped and looked back at her, his gaze cold. “My business isn’t yours to manage.”“You two don’t even belong to the same world. If you stay with her, the only one who’ll end up hurt is her. Wouldn’t it be better not to start at all?”The words had barely left her lips before William’s expression shifted, his stare turning dark and dangerous.“Riley, you’d better keep out of my affairs. If word of this makes it back to Halston, you’ll have to deal with the consequences yourself.”The chill in his eyes was like a blade hanging over her head, making her chest tighten.“William, don’t worry. I won’t say anything. I just want to remind you—being with Ms. Smith will only hurt h

That remark was enough to set William off. His eyes narrowed dangerously.“Hunter Sanders, I’ll give you three seconds. If you don’t let her go, your parents will be here in Stanley City tomorrow to drag you back to Halston.”Hunter let out a cold laugh. “Are you threatening me?”The atmosphere in the private room instantly froze.Liz frowned and said sharply, “Both of you, let go!”Seeing the anger on her face, William hesitated, then finally released her hand. Hunter realized what he was doing and quickly let go as well.“Liz, I didn’t mean it,” he said in a rush.Liz ignored him. She picked up her bag and turned to Riley.“Ms. Henderson, I’m so sorry. Because of me, your dinner was disrupted. If you’re free another day, I’ll treat you to make up for it.”Riley gave a gentle smile. “It’s nothing at all, Ms. Smith. Please don’t worry about it.”“Then I’ll excuse myself tonight. I hope you enjoy your meal.”With that, Liz turned and walked out.William’s face darkened and h
