Chapter 11
Samantha POV It has been two hours, and we are still busy with introductions. I absolutely hate it. If I have to smile for much longer my face is going to stay in this position. When I said that it is almost like Kaleb is introducing his girlfriend to his family, I was joking. Now it does not feel like joking anymore. There is no way in hell that I am going to remember all these people's names. The first couple I met was the Alpha and Luna of this pack. I must have sounded so stupid when I told them that I thought they were ruled by a King. Kaleb patiently explained to me that there are too many werewolves to only be governed by a king. There are a couple of packs scattered all over the island. Once a month all the Alphas get together and give the King a rapport of what is going on in their territory. What kind of trouble there is and what can be done to help each other. When I heard of the love there is in the

Chapter 12
King Ate POV These incompetent fools. I have told them time and time again not to fall in love. Love is weakness. Women make you weak. Just look at my father. He found his mate and died trying to save her. I do realize that she was my mother, however, the love he had for her made him weak. He would still be alive if he didn't lose his head and jumped in front of a bullet. I have heard the rumours flying around the caves. I know my people want me to find my mate and have babies. This is never going to happen. Not even to mention that there hasn't been a female dragon mate born in almost two hundred years.   Samantha POV I walked into the kitchen and made us some coffee. Kaleb already went to his office and told me to come to him once I was done. I made my way into the office. Kaleb was busy typing away at his computer. I placed his cup next to him and went to sit on the chair in front of the desk. Ka

Chapter 13
Samantha POV Kaleb and I walked out of the house together. The same car that bought me here the first day was back in the driveway. A guy I never met before climbed out of the driver's side and gave Kaleb the keys. Without a word he just turned around and left. "Well, that was weird. Who is he?" I asked Kaleb. "That is one of the soldiers. He doesn't talk much. Not even to his parents, so don't take it too personally." Kaleb and I got into the car. He asked me to fasten my seat belt. Kaleb pulled away and onto the road. It took us only ten minutes to stop in town. I have never seen so many shops in one place. Kaleb stopped in front of what my first master described as a supermarket. "Did you remember to bring the shopping list?" Kaleb asks while getting out of the car. "No, I didn't, but I do remember what we need." Kaleb locked the car and together we walked into the shop. We walked fast through the shop. Kaleb was pushing the cart while I dropped things in it. From the look K

Chapter 14
Samantha POV You can't miss something you never had, or, so I thought. When you see that same something, you start to miss it. It never really bothered me that I had no parents, I always had Joan. She always filled the family role in my life, but she is not here anymore. Now that I have seen the love Kaleb and his parents had for each other it made me start to think about what happened to my parents. Did they not ant me anymore? Are they dead? Who just leaves a little girl next to the road? I was two years old. I was small and defenseless. My master told me he did everything in his power to find them. I don't know if I believe him, I mean he could have lied to me. What if he told the truth. Maybe he couldn't find my parents and then decide to raise me all by myself. I have a lot to be thankful for. He didn't always show me love, but he did put a roof over my head. "Earth to Samantha. Are you okay? You have been awfully quiet." I look up from my plate and see that Kaleb's parents ha

Chapter 15
Kaleb POV I watch as Samantha left the room. I did not know she was abandoned when she was small. When she talks about her master, I just thought she was like so many girls out there. Some parents ask a master to take over looking after a girl, so they don't have the job to tell them why they are being sold. This is why I wish I could help humans more than I do now. I cannot imagine selling my child just so that I can have some food on the table. It is horrible. There has to be a way to help them. Why can't we just hire people as we did with Carra and her husband? I have a meeting with the Alpha in the morning. Maybe I can talk to him and come up with ways to help the humans. I walk into my room and look around once again. I think I have an idea. Samantha did a great job cleaning up my room. I didn't realize how messy it was until she cleaned it from top to bottom. There is this fresh smell in my room. I don't know where it is coming from, but to be honest, it helps me sleep. I hav

Chapter 16
Samantha POV It has been more than two months that I have been on the werewolf island. Since the day that I snapped at Kaleb, he has tone things down. He is no longer over-friendly with me and it is better this way. Our relationship went from being friends to being employer and employee. It has become less awkward between us. Tomorrow is Christmas. A holiday I have never actually celebrated before. My master never had the finances to buy us anything like presents. Joan and I heard the other girls talk. They always had to brag about the presents their parents have brought them over the Christmas holiday. We were always so jealous. we never had that. This year it will be different hopefully. Kaleb helped me with the decorations for the house. It almost looks like a fairytale. The lights in the evening are truly breathtaking. Not even to mention the tree. I know Kaleb said that it is tradition to get a big tree on Christmas, but I feel more like he did it for my benefit. There are so

Chapter 17
Samantha POV Dinner with Kaleb's parents was a blast. Looking at them you can see why Kaleb is such a nice person. Maybe I was too hard on him. Perhaps he truly only wanted to be my friend. Kaleb's father told me the whole story about how he found out that Mary was his mate. His parents pushed him to find him a slave. They didn't want their baby boy to do any of the demeaning housework. So he went to the human island and felt a pull towards Mary, and he bought her. At that moment, he did not understand the mate pull yet. After a while, he became protective of her. He didn't allow anyone to say bad things about her. Neither he nor his wolf understood what is going on. Once they were both of age, then and only then, did the pieces finally fall together. His wolf wanted to claim her then and there. He didn't want to because he knew what trouble it would bring into the family. Mary and Kaleb senior had a long talk about what they were going to do. Kaleb senior's parents started settin

Chapter 18
Samantha POV I was awoken by the blaring of an alarm. I look up at the clock and see that it is just past 6. Carra will be in an hour to pick me up for our shopping spree. I try to stand up but my muscles do not want to work with me. It feels like a ten-ton truck ran over me. I finally got my legs over to the side of the bed. All I need is a hot shower. This is just another lesson for me to drink my pills the way I should. I made my way into the bathroom with lots of moaning and groaning from my side. I think I am going to need a pain pill after I am done. As the warm water flows over me, I can feel my muscles start to relax. I guess I would not need that pain pill after all. Carra came by shortly after I finished up in the shower. I left my hair down just to save some time. I took too long in the shower in the first place and if I have to do my hair it will be another hour before we leave the house. Carra was waiting for me in the kitchen. I walked past Kaleb barely acknowledgin

Chapter 19
Samantha POV Carra and I made our way to a burger place just around the corner. Carra raved all the way there. She said that they made the best burgers on the whole island. We were seated by a young boy. He could barely be ten years old. He took our orders on a small piece of paper. "Why isn't he in school?" I whisper to Carra once the boy left. "School isn't the same here as it is on the human island. Here they get holidays to sit and relax. Some choose to help their parents in their shop others just want to stay at home and sleep." I nod my head as I understood, but in all honesty, I don't understand. Who wishes to just waste their time doing nothing? We were taught efficiency. There was no time to just sit and relax in school. The boy came back and place our orders in front of us. I asked for the chicken burger and a diet coke. The smell already made my mouth drool."Can I ask you a question?" I ask Carra looking down at my hands."Yes, you can. You don't always have to ask me

Chapter 20
Samantha POV I walked back into the house after my day out with Carra. I hung my dress in my room and went in search of Kaleb. Carra was right. I need to speak to Kaleb about what happened last night. I cannot just ignore it. I need to let him know what needs to happen just in case it happens again. Not that I am planning to let it happen ever again. I call his name, but there was no answer in the house. I don't think anyone is home. There is dead silence in the house.  I start cleaning up just to pass the time. I didn't have time this morning since I was basically running out of the house. There was not much to do, so once I was done I made my way back to my room and started packing. I took out the clothes that I bought after we went to the salon.  One thing that was made perfectly clear was that working with long nails was a horrible job. I was struggling with the most mundane things. I even had trouble with folding the clo
