CHAPTER 31. Raine drove her married friend Vivian to a private clinic—she couldn't go to the hospital because she wants her husband to find out in a special way—and the ride there was mostly ecstatic. Vivian still felt like it was a dream. After two years, she's pregnant again for her husband. At the private clinic, the doctor medically confirmed that she was six weeks pregnant. Vivian was very happy. She was smiling....until she was crying. Tears started coming down her cheeks.  "Doctor, I'm really scared about this baby. The last time I got pregnant, I had a miscarriage at four months—when I was sleeping." she paused and shook her head, "That was two years ago. This is my fourth year of marriage, doctor. I seriously don't want to loose this child too." The female doctor looked at her pitifully. "You will be fine, madam. Don't overexert yourself, take prenatal vitamins, exerci

CHAPTER 32. Dane had headache and he knew it was from stress. He'd taken some pills and tried to get some sleep but Raine won't allow him. He was lying face-down on the bed while she knelt beside him.  "Let's have a night out, Dane. I'm so tired of staying in enclosed spaces I really want to go out." She pleaded again, flopping herself on the bed beside him. "Not tonight, Sugarplum." he said. He didn't want to tell her about his headache. Knowing Raine, she'll fuss all over him.  "But, why!? Daaaane, let's goooou!" She whined like a child, placing two hands on his back, she shook him repeatedly.  Dane smiled, "That tone worked when you were fifteen. You're not fifteen anymore, Sugarplum." "Liar liar....pants on fire." She singsonged playfully, "This tone works all the time, admit it." It's true but he won't admit it. "We ca

CHAPTER 33. Raine knew she'd done what she shouldn't have even before she kissed his lips and raised her head slightly to look at Dane. The shock on Dane's face was apparent.  "I... Uhm... Erm.." She stammered out. She didn't know what to say.  Dane raised his head from the bed and rose to seat on it, the headache forgotten and stared at Raine. Her cheeks had turned deep shades of red, yet it didn't stop her from drawing closer to him and dipping her head to kiss—peck—him on the lips. Again.  "Don't," Dane managed before she grabbed his face, and pressed their lips together. Dane was stronger and bigger than her. He could easily push her away. He could have stopped the peck. And yet, he couldn’t.  Raine's lips were very soft and plump—and Raine's. His Raine's. Dane couldn’t resist.

CHAPTER 34. Gabe and Cynthia kissed passionately for a while before he broke the kiss. Cynthia was dazed and her eyes glittered. She had been well taken by the kiss.  "I want you, Cynthia." Gabe said, pulling back a little to get a better look on her face.  "I...uhm..." A good percentage of her brain cells has been fried by that kiss, her mind was practically blank. To get herself back together again, she took the two cup of coffees. "I'll just take these back to the kitchen." She rushed out before she got up and moved away like her ass were on fire.  In the kitchen, she was nervous so she called Dane. She needed to talk with her friend for a moment or two....maybe even seek some advice. After an unanswered ring, Cynthia didn't call again. She can't disturb Dane about this, she thought.  She was still there trying to get herself together and think rationally w

CHAPTER 35. Cynthia woke up the next morning with a big smile on her face. Gabe was still sleeping beside her. She took a few seconds to stare at him blatantly without being caught.  Last night has been the best of her life. Gabe was very insatiable and she really wasn't surprised, the man had had a lot of women in his life.  She got up from bed, wincing as some muscles in her body protested. With a smile on her face and headed for the bathroom. She took her bathe and dressed in a simple sundress. Then, she headed for the kitchen where she made a simple breakfast.  She was still serving it in the dinning table when she heard a noise in the room. Gabe was awake.  She walked back to the room and entered just in time to see him getting up from bed. He looked so rugged with a bedsheet around his waist that Cynthia couldn't hide the blatant stare she

CHAPTER 36. "What?" Dane was sure he heard her very well.  "I said I'm going to break up with Cynthia." She murmured, pulling back from him to look at his face. "It's not fair to her. Being with her when she is not the one I want. I can only be with her sexually even though I haven't, but the person I want—the man I want—is you. We all can't go on like this." Dane felt a feeling warming up his chest. He felt good at the thought. Too good. "Are you doing this because it's what you want or because you feel like that's what you have to do? Is it because I told you that Cynthia and I are no longer together as a couple?" She thought about it and shook her head. "It's not that. It's because I've come to realize that I want to be with you more than I want to be with Serena. It's going to be just the both of us as always." she sighed and placed her head on his shoulder.

CHAPTER 37. Raine smiled feeling better, she hugged Vivian when she got closer. "Vivian. How are you today?" she asked softly.  "Euphoric." Came the sharp reply. She pulled away from Raine's arms to hug Dane too.  "Congratulations, Vivian. Your husband told me all about it." Dane's deep voice rumbled against her shoulder.  "Thanks Dane. Please do come in the both of you." Vivian said, leading them away from the centre of the living room to the place they'll sit. She noticed the way the family members were staring openingly and curiously at them and glared at them all. "Don't mind the stares, I'm sure they didn't mean to be rude." She said aloud.  Most of them flushed guiltily and averted their eyes. They turned back to their groups and continued their discussion.  Lots of wine and drinks were shared. Most of the guest di

CHAPTER 38. "She's trying to put on a brave face but she's been dying on the inside about it. Insulting her and putting a lot of pressure on her will never achieve anything except increase her blood pressure and drive her to her death." She paused and added softly, "Do you want your son to be a depressed widower?" The older woman made a gesture of circling her neck with her arm, and snapping her thumb and middle finger together— "God forbid." she shouted.  Raine nodded, "I know you don't, mother. You are a very nice and beautiful old woman, and you were once young too. You have a warm heart too. You do know that His time is the best." she quoted, pointing to the sky.  The older woman puffed out breath, "I know I've been really....pressuring and impatient these days but I really want a grandchild. I don't even have mouth to talk out loud in our meeting ground because all

************ CHAPTER 39. Serena was still cleaning up her apartment when the door opened and Joshua entered. She barely stopped herself from hissing. She didn't want to see Joshua—at least not after a long journey where she's so tired and needs rest.  She'd gone home to visit her family and also get more money from home. Her Ma had complained about no money as usual and it had made her very angry. She'd lashed out and insulted her Ma, cursing their poverty. At last, her Ma had had no other choice than to go and borrow some money for her.  She just arrived few hours ago at her apartment and she had lectures to attend to tomorrow morning. Lorraine was the person she seriously wanted to see now and not Joshua. She'd planned to go see him later.  "You've not been picking my calls, Serena. Why the hell was that?" He asked curtly as he made his way into her apartme

CHAPTER 40. Lorraine held him and rocked him softly against the sofa, reveling in the slight darkness around them and the same time wondering why he turned to the bottle. Dane rarely turned to the bottle.  "Will you tell me what's wrong, honey?" She asked again, barely registering that she used honorifics with him in her concern.  But, it didn't get past Dane. She'd called him honey. It's been a long time she'd used honorifics on him. That's probably why his mouth loosened....that, and the alcohol, maybe.  "This evening reminded me of something I really want to have but probably can't have." He groaned, snuggling deeper between her breasts. "A child is something every man wants with the woman they love." Raine's heart broke to small little pieces for him as the meaning of his words sunk in. "Oh Dane...." She breathed, hurting for him. Hurting for them
