Denzel stood by the window of his office staring down into the streets of New York. He was completely lost in thoughts. It had been 2 days since he heard from Kate. He just couldn’t stop thinking about her after his encounter with her. It was an encounter that changed his whole perception of Kate. She sat there lost in thought. It had been more than three months since she had set her eyes on Denzel. She had really missed him. He had already told her to her face that he didn’t love her and he never did after the last night they had made love. It really hurt her so much that the man she loved and cherished so much. Just as they entered the lobby of the apartment block, the concierge didn’t even look up at first.  “Yes?” he said. “What is it?” His mind fully on the sandwich he was munching, and casually brushed egg crumbs from his face onto his shirt. Karen spoke first… “Hello, please my name is Karen—” Just immediately, Denzel spoke. “Is this how you meet and greet your special guests? Eating anyhow in the public?”  The concierge looked up sharply at him and blenched.  “Oh! Mr. Hobbs,” He stood up hastily, struggling slightly to push his chair back. As he did so, then he plastered on a rather apologetic smile.  

As Karen was in the car, enjoying her ride home, her mind went back to the entire incident that took place some days ago in the office, and why she felt threatened, which warranted Denzel to relocate her from her present place of living. ***FLASHBACK*** Karen did not see her boss for about a couple of months even though they worked in the same office. He had been out of town a few times but when he did reappear at the office and on the occasions that she saw him, he seemed distracted and barely said little to her. She wondered if she had done something wrong, or worse, if he was already tired of her. She had tried to muster up courage to meet him at his office to ask why he never bothered to see her and to perhaps inquire if their contract was still binding but fear and anxiety would always get the better part of her.Then, Kim, his personal assistant, buzzed her“Karen, can you come up to the office, please?
