Lahat ng Kabanata ng PERFECTLY IMPERFECT : Kabanata 11 - Kabanata 20

~Kunmi~We just finished our second CA and I was still surprised at how fast the term was. It actually seemed like yesterday when I resumed and now exams starts in three weeks time and Aminah's party was in two weeks time. My dread kept growing as the day to her party drew nearer just as Aminah's excitement grew. We were on our way to the cafeteria and she was going on and on about how she couldn't wait for the party."My mom throws birthday parties for me every year but this year is very special. Do you know why?"She asked, turning her head sideways to look at me. I shook my head."Because it's my 16th birthday. My sweet Sixteen. I've been looking forward to my sweet Sixteen since I watched Mara' sweet Sixteen's party like 6 years ago. I really can't believe my party is in two weeks time."

~Adams~I really did not plan on attending Aminah's party. I did not even tell mom of the party at all and I was even watching a documentary with her when Kunle arrived all dressed up. He must have guessed I was planning on skipping the party and he turning up, unannounced at my house sealed that deal. Especially when his driver already left and he was counting on me as his ride to the party. I was really left with no choice than to attend the party. And here I was, sitting in a crazy circle at the party with the girl beside me not so discreetly running her hands through the entire length of my thighs. I moved my legs away from her and she'd casually move closer to me. It was getting really annoying but I just decided to humor her.Sophia, not quite long with a grand entrance and I just couldn't help but to notic

~Adam~Dad chuckled exaggeratedly as mom climbed down the stairs. They were going for an Owanbe and dad was already waiting for mom at the foot of the stairs. I looked back from the couch where I sat down. Mom was dressed in an onion colored cord lace with matching headgear. She looked like a bride with her perfectly made up face."Oh wow. Look at my beautiful wife. Ego oyinbo proper. All other women should come and learn about beauty from you. You're the perfect definition of beauty."Mom smiled coyly and when she got to him, he kissed her on both cheeks."Just look at you. I have to be the luckiest man alive."I rolled my eyes at his words and I continued the game I was playing.Luckiest man ko, beatiest man ni. "Adam,

~Adam~I hissed at the automated voice that kept saying; the number that you're trying to call is currently switched off or out of coverage. I've heard that same line for at least a hundred times in the last 20 hours. That was mom's number and even though Aunty had told me not to call her, I kept trying, hoping that I'd at least get lucky and that she'd pick my call. That was hopeless and pointless because no matter how many times I called her, it was going to keep saying switched off. This wasn't the first time something like this would happen and until she called me herself or they return home, there was no way I could see her or hear her voice. But that still did not deter me from trying.Eventually, I gave up, throwing my phone angrily against the wall. It hit the wall before landing on the floor and

~Adam~I walked into the house with Charles to see Dad's car in the compound. My heart leapt,For joy, for relief. And yet, I couldn't understand why my stomach tightened into hard knots and why my fists kept clenching and unclenching as I entered. Mom and Dad were sitting on the sofa backing the entrance and dad's left hand was draped over mom's shoulder. The joy and relief I had felt instantly turned into something darker, something terrifying, something threatening to swallow me whole. My fists clenched and unclenched again and Aunty Shade looked up and saw me saw me standing by the door."Hey! The man of the moment is here."Mom and Dad looked up simultaneously and I focused my attention on mom's face. Her face dissolved into a huge smile when she saw me and my heart almost soared, a
