Chapter 81: The Marking Ceremony
Jack took his time exploring Everly’s body, kissing her, touching her, caressing her, igniting her flesh with every graze of his hand, every brush of his lips. By the time he’d unhooked her bra and tossed it aside, she was nearly ready to come undone and found herself wanting to lift her hips to grind against him, particularly when he lowered his head to take her breast into his mouth, his hand working the other one as if he had done this a thousand times before. For someone who claimed to have no experience, Jack Grey was a natural. Both of them were breathing heavily, and she could feel how hard he was, his length resting on her hip, only his thin boxers between them. “I think…” Jack began, “I’ve had enough of waiting for you, Everly.”“Good,” she said, her eyes closed as she bit down on her bottom lip, trying to keep from clawing through the sheets on Jack’s bed. “I’m ready, Jack.” She

Chapter 82: Later That Night
Jack lay in his bed staring up at the ceiling, thinking about what had happened earlier that night. Everly had gotten up about an hour ago. She’d taken a shower in his bathroom while he went into Alyson’s room and got her overnight bag. She’d gotten dressed in her pajamas, and he’d gotten her settled in one of the guestrooms—with Toby. It had been a long time since she’d been able to sleep with her dog, so at least she wouldn’t be alone. As much as he wanted to spend the night with her, neither one of them were ready for that yet, which seemed a little odd when he thought about how important it usually was for people to spend the night together after sex, but he thought she really wanted her own space. He wanted some space, too, but only because he was afraid if he didn’t put some space between them, he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off of her. And she needed to get some rest, not be harassed by him all night.Sigh

Chapter 83: The Morning After
The next morning, Alyson woke Everly up early. “I thought you might want to leave early, before my parents get up,” she said. “Or maybe not?”Everly was half asleep, but everything came flooding back to her. She’d hardly gotten any sleep the day before because she’d been up half the night thinking about what had gone on with Jack and worried about the whole situation with her arm. “Yeah, I think that’s a good idea,” Everly muttered.“Okay. Chase is going to drive us,” Alyson continued. “I didn’t know how you’d feel about seeing Jack. Unless you want to see him.”“No, I want to see him,” she said.“Oh, all right. I’ll let him know while you get dressed,” Alyson said, hopping off of the bed. Toby still wasn’t thrilled that this girl kept popping into the room and disturbing his rest, not to mention bothering his hooman, but he didn&r

Chapter 84: Caught On Film
Waiting for Jack to pick her up for school was a lot harder than Everly thought it was going to be. She ended up texting him several times that night, as long as her phone was working, which wasn’t for as long as she’d hoped it would. At least she’d gotten a chance to tell him about her arm.In the morning, he picked her up alone, and Everly hardly got the door open before Jack was flying inside. “Is your dad here?” he asked.“No, his truck’s not—”She didn’t get to finish the sentence before Jack’s mouth was on hers, devouring her lips, his hands on her hips lifting her off of the ground. Everly couldn’t help but laugh as her fingers intertwined in his hair.“Sorry,” he said when he finally uncoiled his tongue from hers. “I’ve been waiting a while to do that.”Everly felt her heart still pitter pattering in her chest. She understood what he meant.

Chapter 85: The Picture
Everly let Jack’s words set in for a second before she repeated them aloud. “The head of the council?” It was definitely a question, though. “The head of the council was there… when my mother disappeared?”“Apparently,” Jack said, his tone sympathetic, not angry or accusatory against the man who was supposed to be a leader of their type, a man who had clearly been lying to them for years while they looked for and questioned what had become of Everly’s mother.“And your father is sure?” Everly said.“He’s sure. He was blown away. He didn’t know what to say or do.” Jack still sounded flabbergasted.“I don’t think we should say or do anything at the moment, Jack,” Everly said, her pulse beginning to race again. “I think we need to wait until I’m completely done with this process, whatever you want to call it.”“Oh, definitely,&rdq

Chapter 86: Showing Everly
The moment Everly got into the car the next morning, Jack handed her the best picture of the three wolves that had been taken from the film that was found in her mother’s camera. He waited for her to look at it and gave her a moment to process. Her eyes roamed over the three wolves in the distance before she asked, “Which one is Granite?”“The largest one in the middle,” Jack told her. “My dad’s sure that’s him. See that sort of strange gray bib-like marking on his chest? Dad said that that’s pretty unique, and he’s certain that it’s Granite.”She slowly shook her head. “And who are the other two?”“The smallest one on the left is named Hester, and the one on the other side is Abram. He’s one of the oldest members of the council.”“And was Granite the council president  or whatever the hell you call him when this happened?” Everly

Chapter 87: Permission To Go
Cooking dinner was definitely not one of Everly’s favorite activities. She was looking forward to going off to college where she wouldn’t have to do that anymore. She’d live in a dorm where she could eat dinner in a cafeteria every night. The food would probably be bland, but at least she wouldn’t have to cook it.As she pulled the meatloaf out of the oven the Thursday night of the first week back to school after Thanksgiving break, she couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to be married at college. She’d always assumed she’d be single when she went away to school. She’d thought she’d be busy studying and not even have time to date, but if the right guy came along, maybe she’d end up meeting someone. Perhaps she’d have a steady boyfriend and even end up engaged by the end of college. But she definitely didn’t think she’d be married going into college. After all, she hadn’t even dat

Chapter 88: Unexpected Call
The rest of the week both seemed to drag along and fly by until it was Saturday again, and Everly didn’t know how she should spend her day. Should she spend the day pampering herself like she had the week before, or should she just veg out and watch a movie or ten?At least she had Toby with her. That was a major difference from the week before. She knew she shouldn’t spend too much time outside, and since it was early December it was pretty cold, too, but with the big fence in the back yard that Jack and the others had built for Toby, she didn’t mind going back there with her dog quite a few times that day for him to do his business and to play catch for a while until her dad yelled at her that she needed to go back inside. He said it was too cold, but she knew he was nervous that something else was going to happen to her.Everly mumbled under her breath that she was fine, but she decided to go in anyway, grabbing the ball off of the frozen ground. Chapter 89: Snake
Rather than going to Chase's, Jack decided to stay home this time around. He did go for a run in the woods in his wolf form, which was freeing, but after that, he came home, took a shower, and put on some clean clothes. He decided this time around to bring things down a notch. He hoped that Everly wouldn’t mind too much. He was just too wound up last time, and he didn’t want to go through all of that again.Besides, after the first time, he had a better idea what he was doing, and he was looking forward to it a lot more than he was terrified, like he had been the week before. He was a little nervous about the whole marking thing, though. Since Everly hadn’t even seemed to notice when he’d bitten her, he was hoping it wouldn’t hurt when she bit him.“Are you about ready to go get Everly?” Alyson asked, coming into the living room and picking up a throw pillow to blast him in the head with at about a quarter till three.

Chapter 90: Who is the Culprit?
“I swear to the Moon Goddess, God, Buddha, Tiki, whoever you want me to swear to,” Paul said, running his hands through his hair. “I didn’t talk to anyone. I didn’t tell anyone! I didn’t show anyone the pictures. I printed them out and came right here. I didn’t even know who was in them!”Everly felt sorry for the guy. The moment they’d gotten to the Grey house, Jack had used that mind-link thing to call him over to their house, as well as Chase and a couple of other guys she didn’t know, guys his dad’s age. Victor was out of town at the moment. Everly was staying out of the way, standing with her back pressed against the wall, wishing she could just melt into the drywall and disappear.“No one else knew about this,” Jack said, not for the first time. Paul was sitting in a recliner, though the footrest wasn’t up, and the others were all sitting on the couch. Except for Jack who was paci
