*ASA TRINE*“You are grinning again? Seriously, did you hit your head somewhere?” Kate asked as she stared at me from behind the counter. She was managing the registry of her Dad’s boutique today and I had dropped by to buy a few things.Seeing my reflection in the mirror behind her I immediately wiped off my smile and clearing my throat I said, “No, just remembered a funny joke.”She didn’t seem to believe me but since she was swamped with work today she didn’t bother with me and went back to her work.In all honesty this smile hadn’t been off my face since last night. If I had known that angry Cain would be so hot in bed then I would have to try and get on his nerves every once in a while.‘That’s not what you should be thinking about,’ my wolf scolded me worried that our mate was still stressed with the Clay situation and sighing as she reminded me of that bastard I pouted grumbling to myself, “Did you have to remind me?”“Of what?” Kate asked with furrowed brows, staring at me, pr

*ASA TRINE*I don’t know why but tears started slipping out of my eyes. The path before me looked blurry and Cain held me to his side guiding me through the heavy scent of disinfectants and medicine.“Where is he?” Luna demanded as I saw her blurry figure leading us ahead.‘Are you alright?’ Cain’s voice resounded in my head making me look at him. His handsome face was a hazy mess but his golden eyes were so sharp that I could make out the worry in them even through my clouded eyes.‘I am alright,’ I said wiping my tears with my palms but it was unknown to me why had the news been affecting me so much.I didn’t even want to cry and yet I couldn’t help but feel my heart beating loudly as if any second now it would escape out of the confines of my chest and run across the corridor to find ‘him’.But why was it so unsettled for him?Why was my heart in such agony for Clay?‘Xara what’s wrong with us?’ I asked her in my mind but my wolf refused to answer me as she cowered in a corner in m

*ASA TRINE*“Are you ready?” Luna asked looking at me as we stood outside Clay’s room. She looked a jittery mess of happy, sad, nervous and apologetic. Her expression and dark circles were concerning but right now I was only just mad at her for making me do something against my wish. She was mostly using my love and kindness by ignoring my feelings and yet I couldn’t even blame her for it.If she had to choose between her child’s life and my inconvenience the answer was a given to lean towards Clay.I didn’t say anything in response and opening the door she smiled as she faced her son who had been sitting on the bed looking down. He must have sensed my presence at once because quickly looking up at me his eyes widened.“You came,” he whispered in disbelief as he stared at me with his wide blue eyes that had taken on a lighter shade and scrambling to get out of his bed he hysterically rejoiced, “You came!”“Clay, please stay where you are,” Luna scolded and pleaded with him, making him

*ASA TRINE*“It’s time for your medicines, sir.”The nurse that greeted us the next morning was a male nurse who smiled at the two of us, placed the medicine on the side table and instructing me to feed it to Clay then walked out of the door without so much as a retreating glance.“Seems like you don’t have to worry about those women anymore,” I commented in a hopeful manner as I went to hand him the medicines.“Are you trying to get rid of me?” he asked, pouting uncharacteristically and looking away at the unnatural expression I shook my head to get rid of its image in my head. I really did wish that he would stop calling me now if those ladies weren’t coming to irritate him.“Hey, stop making that face!”I said, still not get used to these gentle and playful expressions that he sent my way after all the glares and scorns. I had obviously seen it on his face before but he had never once looked at me that way and each time he did now, I felt my judgment against him crumbling.Has he r

*ASA TRINE*“Cain please stop!” I cried out as soon as we entered our room. I had been quiet all this while afraid that our neighbors would hear us and speculate that something had gone wrong between us but our room had been soundproofed like every other bedroom in this pack and I could freely talk to him now.“Let go of my hand,” I hissed as I tried to get him to lose his grip. My wrist had grown red and I was afraid that he would leave some deep finger marks on it. I knew he would regret it later when he would see it.I understood when he was angry to find me there with Clay but to drag me all the way here to our home and still not have spoken even a word to me really started to piss me off.“Shut up!” he shouted in my face, the amount of anger that radiated from him scared me but I was more frightened that the nerve ticking in his forehead would pop anytime now.Throwing me on the bed when he saw me cower he didn’t give me time to back away and caging me in between his arms he gla
