Unlucky day and a proposal that has nothing to do with it.

Today was definitely not my day, because after a horrible standoff I had finally been fired, but in my defense that idiot had deserved the glass of beer in my face, only I guess my, in this case, ex-boss didn't think so, but of course apparently being fired wasn't enough, I had to have forgotten my wallet at home, which is why I was now walking the eleven blocks that exist between the cafeteria where I used to work and my apartment, where the situation is not much better, after all I owe nothing more and nothing less than two months rent, only that definitely, for the universe this does not seem to be enough, it had - of course - started to rain, because after all there is nothing bad that cannot get worse. But I had no idea how much worse it was going to get.I was already so soaked that I wasn't making any effort not to get wet, I honestly didn't care anymore, but I was so focused on thinking about how bad my life was that I didn't notice the car coming towards me when I went to cro

That's crazy, so it's a yes almost no.

When I got home I was cold to the bone, even though I was wearing Anthony's jacket I was still freezing to death, the rain hadn't stopped for a second and when I saw that it was eight o'clock at night I decided that I had to face it. I only stopped tapping my chin when I got home, took a shower, put on a sweatshirt and wrapped myself in a blanket on the couch. Even though a cup of coffee and cake wasn't enough for a "dinner", amazingly enough I wasn't hungry today, thinking and rethinking Anthony's proposal drove any other thought out of my head.I sighed for the third time in less than five minutes and stared at the phosphorescent lamp on the ceiling of my living room wishing that Helena and Miguel were here, why is it that just when a crazy person appears out of nowhere and makes me an offer like this that they find time to visit her parents in the countryside?Helena and Miguel were my neighbors and best friends, he was still my brother, brother of consideration, but he was. Migue

Okay, that was a bad idea.

We walked down the hall to Dr. Stuart's office and I was a little surprised when Anthony walked in without knocking, he seemed to be the type to follow all the rules. We walked in and again I was surprised to find that Dr. Stuart looked a little older than me, a brunette with dark eyes, she must have been in her early thirties at the most, she smiled at us and motioned for us to sit down.- Anthony, glad you could make it - she said, smiling. - So this is the girl you told me about? - she asked looking at me.Anthony nodded.- This is the same Dr. Stuart, her name is Elisa Banks, Miss Banks this is Dr. Marina Stuart.- It's a pleasure Elisa - she said smiling and held out her hand, I shook it smiling too, she turned to Anthony when she released my hand. - I told you to call me by my name Anthony, it's Marina, you know? Are we friends or not?Anthony sighed and I held back my laugh, does he have a problem with people and intimacy?- Now is not the time, are you going to help me or not?

What do you mean pregnant?

A month had passed since my almost deal with Anthony and surprisingly (or not) in the meantime I had managed to sink deeper into debt, because I hadn't gotten a job and this was already worrying me, after all I had used all the money I had in the bank to pay the rents that were now up to date, but I had no idea how I would pay the next one.- You'll manage," Helena said, smiling as she made some coffee in my kitchen.- How do you expect me to do that, Lena? When I don't even have a job?she sighed.- I don't know, OK? But you'll figure it out. Miguel and I could help you, but with the whole marriage thing it's hard.- I wouldn't take it even if you could. This is my problem, and I'm the one who's going to solve it. And could you please stop messing with this stinky thing?- What would be new is if you would accept help. And what do you mean by "stinky thing"? Are you talking about the coffee? - she asked, and I nodded and grimaced, the smell was unbearable. - I thought you liked it.-

You wouldn't have the number of my baby's father, would you?

Even if I had said that, "telling" Anthony was proving to be a very difficult task, especially since I had no idea where the card with his number was. I gave up looking because it was close to eleven o'clock at night and I had a job interview the next day, but before dismissing Helena (she was helping me) I made her promise not to tell Miguel anything yet, because it was obvious that he would notice when my belly started to grow, but for now I wanted to avoid being lectured, especially when I wasn't so sure if this was going to end well.Luckily this time I remembered to set my alarm clock so I didn't have any surprises or rushing around and arrived at my destination with fifteen minutes to go before eight o'clock. The candy store was beautiful, all decorated in shades of light pink and lilac, there was a huge white counter and several shelves leaning against the walls, there were also four little wooden tables with two chairs each, in short it was like a dream that smelled incredibly

That's right, add one plus one.

- You just have to call him," Lena told me for the sixth time in less than ten minutes, as I had been pacing back and forth in the living room of my apartment with Anthony's number in my hand and Helena staring at me. Thank God that Miguel was stuck at work late today. - Come on Elisa, stop being a coward.- I can't," I whimpered, feeling that I was on the verge of tears. I hadn't had the courage to call him at any point since earlier today when the doctor gave me his number. It was official, I was a coward. - How am I going to call him out of the blue and tell him that I am pregnant with his child? - The same way he made you this crazy offer, in a conversation, just talk to him, you're very good at that," she encouraged with a smile and I sighed. Lena was right, I needed to call him and soon. I looked at the clock that was already reading 9:30 and sighed again, I really had to stop fooling around.I finally plucked up courage and dialed the number, when it started ringing I panicked

Bonus.

Anthony had a strange feeling of déjà vu as he sat there in that chair facing Marina, and the doctor gave him a disapproving look just as she had the first time.- You still know what I think about all this madness, don't you? - she wanted to know and he sighed, he didn't need another moral lesson. He wanted a baby and he was going to get it, one way or another.- You may not like my methods, but it's done," he shrugged.- That's what worries me, Anthony," she said impatiently. - I think you were too hasty, in fact when you came to me with this craziness I didn't think I would find anyone as crazy as you to accept it.- To tell you the truth, neither did I," he admitted with a half smile, remembering the day he had met Elisa Banks. On that particular day he was late and very frustrated, he had gone to Marina's office to get some information about his plans and didn't like the doctor's answers at all, how could she say to his face that she thought it was all crazy? It's ok that it wasn

Ultrasound, irritation and contract.

- So doctor? - Anthony asked and I sighed, after the five tests and the nausea I kind of knew what would be written on the exam, but still, seeing it written would make it all absurdly real and I didn't know if I was ready for that, especially after yesterday, I glared at the brunette sitting next to me and wanted to kill him, again. After my date with Anthony the day before I came home practically spitting fire, how could one person be so annoying? First he can't say my name, then he calls me crazy, it's okay that yesterday I was not in my "normal" state, he just doesn't need to rub it in my face, does he? But I think he does that, on purpose, it's illogical. So I let it go, I had to let it go, I'm pregnant and I can't stress myself out, I just don't know how I'm going to do it with him around.Today I woke up already nervous with the anticipation of what would come later and the morning sickness didn't help at all, nor the one that came after that and the other in the late afternoon

Heart attacks and surprises.

- Come on Lena, have pity on me and help me," I whined to my friend and she laughed.- The problem and the brother are yours, turn around - she said like the good friend she was.I had been trying for almost an hour to get Helena to help me, to no avail. The truth was that since yesterday when Anthony gave me the contract I had been working up the courage to talk to Miguel about it. My fake brother would be angry, of that I was sure, but I had to tell him, after all he would find out sooner or later.- But the groom is yours," I tried again, and Lena blew me a kiss.- Sorry, there's nothing I can do, but this is your time," she commented as she left my apartment. Hi honey," she greeted him with a kiss as if she hadn't just signed my death warrant. - Lisa wants to talk to you," she announced, pointing at me and heading for her own apartment across the hall, but before she closed the door behind her I heard her whisper, "Good luck.Miguel entered my apartment and threw his suitcase on t
