Part 2: Chapter 20
( Final day of camp) Sylvia's P. O. V Finally the camp came to an end. During the last few days everyone could be seen packing their bags and saying their last goodbyes. The last bonfire night that was held was actually the best has everyone put up a great show as this would be the last time they would ever see this much people again. Even though I was in a sour mood throughout the last few days, I couldn't help but smile out tears at the fun I had as well. Today was the last day so mostly what everyone was doing was packing up and getting ready to go home. Fortunately for Olivia and Tyler, this camp had a happy ending for them. Tyler finally asked Olivia to be his girlfriend at the last bonfire night and she heartily agreed. But me? I'm not so sure. As usual, I spent the last few days avoiding Alex and Patrick. Skyler on the other hand didn't wait till the end of camp before leaving. After that night that I had spoken to her, we had woken up to see an empty bed. A

Part 2: Chapter 21
(Next day) After dressing up for school, I came downstairs and met my mom in the kitchen, making breakfast. After a quick greeting and a kiss on the cheeks, I settled down for some oats and milk. She came to join me later. Glancing at her as I ate, I made to ask the question that had been bugging me for some time now. " Mom... Are you okay? You don't look so well." I said and she smiled, not meeting my gaze. " Yeah. I'm fine, just a little sick." She replied and I shrugged. " You sure? You've gotten a lot thinner." I said and she flinched a little. Smiling again, she held my hands. " I said am fine. Stop worrying about me. Now eat your food and go to school or you'll be late." I smiled, glad to know my mom wasn't as sick as I thought. Finishing up my meal, I bade my mom goodbye before heading to school. I arrived soon after and of course, the entire compound was bustling with students. Carefully making my way around them, I found my way to my

Sylvia's P. O. V " When... How did she get it?" I asked the doctor again, not sure if I heard him the first time. " Anyone can have it... Although people who have relatives that had leukemia once are prone to having it." He explained. I stared past him, my gaze unseeing. " You know what leukemia is right?" The doctor asked when I wasn't saying anything. When I didn't reply, he began explaining. " It starts when the blood-producing organs...." I cut him short. " I know what leukemia is doctor. " I said and he froze. " How long has she had it?" I asked again. " She's had it for quite a while now but she always came in for treatment using chemotherapy." She has? Why didn't she tell me? " So... what's going on now? Why did she faint?" I asked, my eyes clouding with tears, He sighed deeply before continuing. " They probably weren't working anymore so there are more leukemic cells in her body and her immune system is already weakened. It's wh

( A few hours later) Sylvia's P. O. V Looking out and realizing it was already getting late, I slowly made my way to the boys who were still hanging around. " Hey...." I called out meekly. They raised their faces to look at me. " You should go home. You've been here for quite a while now, your parents must be worried about you. " " Wha... What about you? " Patrick asked. I managed a smile. " I'll be fine. I'll just stay here... With Mom. Just in case the doctors need anything. " " You're still in your uniform. " Alex reminded me. I looked down and realized it was true. " Uhh... Then I guess I'll go home too. But it'll be much later. You guys should go on ahead. " They glanced at each other, hesitant. Neither of them wanted to leave. " Come on now... Please?" I begged. Patrick sighed in defeat. " You're right though... It is getting late. But are you sure you'll be fine? " he asked. " Absolutely. I'll call you if I need anything." I s

Part 2: Chapter 24
( Next day) Sylvia's P. O. V I woke up very late the next day, my head pounding and my heart heavy. Running a hand through my messed up hair, I looked around and was met with silence. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I let out a shaky breath. I had thought it was all a bad dream and I would wake up and everything would be back to normal. But it's not, my mom really is sick. Breaking down again, I began crying, my face buried in my hands as the tears slipped out. But of course, crying never solved anything. Eventually I'll have to get out of bed and face the reality. I dragged myself out of the bed, trudging into the bathroom to wash off my tear stained face. I can't go to school today so I sent a text to both Patrick and Alex that I'll not be arriving. Peeling off my nightclothes from my body, I stepped into the shower and stayed there for long hours, just letting the water run down my body. A quick breakfast and I'll be going to the hospital....

Part 2: Chapter 25
Patrick's P. O. V I stared at Sylvia as she continued crying. Shuddering, I began talking. " What are we going to do now?" I asked gently and Sylvia looked up at me, her eyes watering. " I don't know...." She forced out, her voice shaking. " I don't know anyone else. And even if I try to use an outside donor how am I so sure we'll find him on time? " She asked and broke down further, sobbing loudly. I glanced at Alex, swallowing. " What do we do now?" I asked quietly. " I don't know... " He whispered back.... Alex's P. O. V When I arrived home, I met my mom already waiting for me. I sighed and greeted her, hugging her tightly. " What happened? Why do you look so sullen?" She asked and I breathed out, running a hand through my hair. " It's Sylvia's mom..." I began. " What about her? " " Well... Sylvia submitted herself for a test and she wasn't a match. Now we don't know where we would find a match for her mom before time runs out. "

Sylvia's P. O. V " He is the match?" I asked the doctor and he nodded, still talking. " Now I suggest we get started with the preparations...." I cut him off, still staring at Alex. " Why?" I forced out, my voice breaking. " Why does it have to be you? " The doctor seemed confused." Is there a problem Miss Torres?" He asked and I glanced at him. " Of course! There is a problem!" " Come on Sylvia... I'm just donating. It's nothing serious." " Of course it is... " I cried out, tears slipping out my eyes." You're the one donating. It's you!" I breathed out, cleaning the tears off my face. " I'm sorry but... I can't let you do this. We have to find another donor." " What!?" Alex and the doctor gasped in unison. I wearily shook my head. " I can't let you, Alex... You've done so much for me." I muttered and he walked closer to me, holding me by the shoulders. " But Sylvia... It's your mom we're talking about!" He said and I glanced up at him

Sylvia's P. O. V I stared at Patrick, my mouth hanging open. " What?" I muttered. He sighed and continued, his gaze unflickered. " Yes... Let's break up." He repeated, his voice stronger. I stuttered, my heart racing. " Why?... Did I do something wrong?" " Nothing, it's just not the right time for this. " " What do you mean? " I asked and he held my hands, caressing it softly. " Listen to me carefully Sylvia. We're too young to be worrying ourselves about things like this. Your mom's sick and she needs all the help she can get. Alex is the one who can offer that help. You have to let him. " " But, Patrick... " I began but he cut me off. " It's okay, I know what you're thinking. But I can't watch you suffer. I hate seeing you this way... This miserable. " " Patrick, I doesn't have to be this way. " I said, my voice quivering. His grip on my hands tightened and I could see the tears in his eyes but he still smiled. " Yes it does. You won't l

Sylvia's P. O. V I woke up with a start cleaning the next day, checking my clock for the time, I sprang out of bed and rushed towards the bathroom, hurrying through my morning routine. Today I'll be getting update on my mom and I can't wait. Heading downstairs, I made myself a quick breakfast and walked out of the house, boarding a cab to the hospital. I arrived there soon after and walked straight to my mom's ward where I met a doctor checking on her. Staying outside, I watched them through the window. Eventually the doctor was through with her and he came out, spotting me. " Good morning doc..." I greeted, feeling nervous. " Good morning Miss Torres. I see you're here early. " He said and I nodded, still glancing at my mom. " How is she? " I asked quietly and watched as he took in a deep breath. " Well...." He began and I held my breath. One more bad news and I'll... " She's on the mend." He finished and I breathed out, feeling absolutely relieved. "

Part 2: Chapter 29
(One week later) Sylvia's P. O. V My mom kept getting better. The new bone marrow that was donated kept producing healthy cells that pushed the leukemic ones out and she kept getting stronger. I checked up on her occasionally while I continued school, trying to catch up with the things I lost while she was sick. Fortunately for me, the break up between me and Patrick smoothed out. Now we are more friends than strangers. Even though I'm sad we had to end things, I'm glad things didn't get so bad between us. It was lunch time so I was sitted at the school's cafeteria, quietly having mine when I heard footsteps approaching. I looked up and saw that it was Alex. I swallowed and managed a small smile " Hey..." He called out, " mind if I join you?" He asked and I shook my head. Nodding thanks, he sat in front of me and we ate in silence. Eventually he broke it. " So.... How's your mom?" He asked. I took a bottle of water and drank some of it's content. Closi
