CLAIRE'S POVI must have slept really late. I stood up from bed and pulled open the curtains. Alex wasn't in the room again, and it was not that I was expecting him to be in the room, but at least he had been there till I fell asleep for the past few days. I pushed open the balcony door and took in a deep breath of fresh hair as I looked down at the garden from above, and it did look beautiful and colorful. I stepped out of the room after changing into a casual dress to get some coffee down in the kitchen. The maids bowed as they saw me, pausing the dusting and cleaning they were busy with. I walked towards the kitchen, and I could already perceive the sweet aroma of food cooking. As I stepped into the kitchen, I saw Alex standing before the cooker in an apron. Well, that was sexy. He wasn't dressed up as usual. He had nothing on the upper part of his body, and only the apron covered his chest. His back looked inviting, and I couldn't help but admire its broadness. "You done checki

Chapter 164CLAIRE'S POV "Nathaniel." Luna Lisa said in an excited voice as she rushed over to hug him. My hand stopped mid air as I stared at Nathaniel who was hugging her back. His eyes shifted from her to me and an evil smirk crept up his lips and I could feel shivers all over my body. "Where have you been Nathaniel? I've been really worried." Luna Lisa asked as she checked up on Nathaniel lovingly why still had his eyes on me. My hands frantically dropped and the plate dropped on the floor, shattering into pieces with the cookies and biscuits flying in different directions. I was using all my self control to make sure the tea in my hand didn't drop too so I hurriedly placed it on the table and tried to stand up when Alex rushed down the stairs looking worried. When he set eyes on Nathaniel, I could tell immediately that he wasn't happy at all about it. ALEX'S POVI decided to leave mother and Claire alone to have some quality ladies time alone and I returned upstairs to fres

ALEX'S POVClaire shouldn't stay alone unguarded because of Nathaniel. I couldn't really focus on work because Nathaniel was in the same building as me. I soon stepped out of the study and then I saw him shutting the door to my room sneakily and a frown made its way up my lips. I watched as he left the door towards the main lounge and I hurriedly walked into my room to check up on Claire. She was sleeping on the bed peacefully like a baby. I walked over to her and planted a kiss on her forehead and cheeks before heading out of the room to follow Nathaniel. He isn't to be trusted at all. I slowly followed him as he went into the woods. Luckily, he didn't notice my presence at all. He was mysterious but what exactly was he looking for in the woods by this time? I watched him stop and look back before entering the free part of the woods where a man was sitting, smoking. As soon as he saw Nathaniel, he stood up and I wasn't quiet surprised it was Ivan. He just confirmed my suspicions that

CLAIREI didn't bother to ask him what he wanted or why he was in my room. Whatever the case might be, I knew Nathaniel was not a man who should be trusted on any level at all. Heck, the man had done nothing but proved that he was the demon's spawn for a while now. It would be suicidal to try and reason with him. So, I just did the next best thing that came to my mind.I screamed my lungs out. Or rather, I tried to scream my lungs out. The man was in front of me before I even opened my mouth, and his hand clasped my mouth shut, effectively preventing me from doing what I aimed."Bitch!" He yelled at me. "You think you can make me lose by calling your boyfriend out here? I'll just make you pay for that misconception." He sneered at me, and I cringed.Fuck! My body became weak as my brain zeroed in on his words, especially that part about making me pay for everything. Or was it about me screaming? I didn't know, and I didn't want to know. All I was after was making sure that I was safe.

Claire's POV The next day, I was forced to eat breakfast on my own as none of the family members were available to be seen in the dining room. I understood their plight each, except for Nathaniel, though. Or maybe I didn't understand the plight of either of them except Alex, whom I was sure was hurting from the actions of his people, especially his mother. How could the woman force her son into a corner like that? Was she not supposed to be neutral when it came to her two sons? She was not supposed to show one affection while ignoring the other! No matter what her excuses were, she shouldn't have forgotten that it was the two of them who were facing hard times during this season. So, how could she pick a side?Just thinking about the incident the previous day brought my anger again, making me boil. It was so much that I was sure that I would murder somebody if I laid my eyes on them. That somebody was notorious Nathaniel. Maybe get angry at Luna Lisa also for her reckless behaviour.
