MELISA HAS TO GO
With his hands on the guardrails, he gazed at the beautiful horizon. It was a beautiful morning and the chirps of birds could be heard as they flew around the tall trees in the yard. Last night was hell as he wasn't able to catch some sleep. Thoughts of what awaits him today were what seemed to have become a burden he couldn't bear. He thought of Lisa and he sighed heavily. He doesn't want to think about her at the moment, he thought as he rubbed his palm over his head. "You're awake," he heard his mother's voice behind him. He turned and saw her dressed in a white silky night dress that stopped right on her knees. Her tender smooth palms caressed his shoulder as she stood behind him. "Mother," he called calmly. "Son," she called tenderly. He sighed and she stood beside him with their eyes staring into the open. "I need you to be strong for what awaits you today. No matter what happens, you should be brave enough to make bold decisions. Even if it means letting go," she

THE PROBLEM
Torrential rain lashed against her body as she stepped out of the car with her daughter firmly in her arms. Her luggage was thrown on the floor beside her and she watched in tears as the car zoomed away. It was dark and cold as she found her way through the empty neighborhood with May in her arms and her luggage beside her. She found a spot under the big trees which serves as a relaxing spot in the estate. She sat on the steel bench under the tree and she could feel only small amounts of raindrops on her skin. She brought out a thick cloth from her box which she used in wrapping May who would be terribly cold by now. She began to pant heavily as she looked into the dark rainy night with her body shivering from the cold. The rumbling of thunder could be heard as the rain continued to pour down mercilessly. Her lips continued to quiver and her body trembled as she wrapped her one year old daughter in her bosom. She thought of everything happening in her life at the moment. She had

BACK HOME
She opened her eyes slowly and her brows raised in surprise as she looked around the small neatly arranged room. It appeared so strange to her until she recalled all the saga of last night. She felt an acrid pain on her head and a big lump on her throat. Looking at the other side of the bed, she could see May lying peacefully in a brown blanket. Her eyes welled up as she recalled the hospitality she had received from Toyosi last night. Despite their differences, Toyo proved to be a friend in times of distress. She thought of Rita and her brows gathered. Right now, all she felt was to teach her a big lesson she will never forget. She was still in her ocean of thoughts when the door opened and Toyosi walked into the room, dressed in a pink short night wear. "Hey," she called with a smile as she shut the door behind her. "Hi..," She muttered nervously as she narrowed her gaze from her face. "You're awake," she said with a smile as she sat on the small bed. She heaved a sigh

THE MURDER
She was still deep in thought when she heard the phone beep beside her on the bed. She looked at the screen and saw a text popped up in it. She quickly reached for the phone and her brows gathered as she saw a text from Rita. "Melisa, I need you right now at my place. There is something I have to tell you," the text read. She sat up immediately with the phone stuck in her hand. "What does this bitch have to say?" She said to herself. She doesn't want anything to do with Rita and right now, all she felt was nothing but disgust for her. But could she really have something important she needs to know? She thought as she let out a sigh. Going over to her place to teach her a little more lesson won't be a bad idea, she thought again as she stood up from the bed and walked over to the wardrobe. She dressed up in a white short maxi dress and a black beaded scarf tied around her head. She wore her sunglasses and stepped out of the room with her sling purse hung over her shoulder.

AT THE COURT
He stepped into the car and shut the door behind him. He could see Daren sitting close to the window, dressed in a casual white T-shirt and black pants with his hand cupped around his chin. He seemed to be deeply engrossed in thought and his eyes didn't raise for a moment as he heard him stepping into the car."Daren," he called in a rather high tone.He jolted out of his thoughts and turned to look at him."Um..sorry. I was just..lost," he stammered in a calm tone.Evan sighed and leaned his back on the car seat."How..how did it go?" He asked as he looked at his face with all seriousness."She's appearing in court a few days from now," he replied. He kept silent and looked out of the window. "So, what are your plans?" Evan asked."My mother and grandmother want me to divorce Lisa and marry as soon as possible," he revealed."What?! That's ridiculous," Evan said with a scoff. He kept silent and didn't reply."And what are you going to do about it?" He asked."I don't know. I can't r

YOUR WIFE TO BE
Slow footsteps could be heard as they walked into the room, glamorously donned in black expensive outfits. Hand in hand, they walked into the luxury bedroom where they could see Elsa Boseman sitting elegantly on the black couch, sipping wine with a laptop placed on her legs. They stopped as they watched her drop her glass and typed words into the laptop.“What can I offer you?” She asked without raising her eyes.“Mother, we are sorry to disturb you at this hour. We have something urgent to discuss with you,” Dotun spoke with his eyes fixed on his mother who was deeply engaged.“Five minutes,” she stated and they both took their seats on the couch facing her.“Mother, it’s about Daren and everything going on in the family,” he continued.“Straight to the point, please,” she snapped with her eyes still fixed on her laptop. He sighed and gulped.“As we’ve all seen, Daren is not ready to move on from Melisa and it’s making the company suffer, plus he is about to tarnish the family’s name

STEFANY
“Stefany, meet Daren, your husband to be.” he heard his mother say to the girl who was standing before him with her red thin lips wearing a broad smile. She tried to touch his arms but he beckoned with his hands for her to stop. He saw the smile disappear from her face and he turned to his mother who was smiling as she watched them.“Is this supposed to be a joke?” He asked with a deep frown.Elsa’s brows gathered deeply and she shot him a stern look.“Joke? When I talked about getting you a wife, you thought it was a joke?” She asked with a scoff.“Mother..” he tried to speak but the words became stuck in his throat. He turned slowly to the girl standing beside him and he shook his head in disbelief. Without a word, he walked away.“Daren!” He could hear her calling behind him but he paid no attention to her as he walked to the stairs. She turned to look at Stefany whose facing was looking downcasted.“Oh, baby girl, smile.” she urged as she placed her palms on both sides of her chee

FIX THIS QUICKLY
He walked into the chamber where the women were seated on the couch, sipping their wine gracefully.“My mothers, you both sent for me,” he said with humility as he lowered his gaze from their faces.“Daren, I heard you turned down the girl your mother brought as your bride,” Mrs Selina said with a wry smile on her lips as she gazed at his downcasted face.He remained silent with his head bowed a little.“Daren, you should know that I don’t trifle when it comes to my company. Your absence is making my company suffer. You have refused to move on with your life, you have refused to divorce Melisa and take a new bride,” she continued in a rather high tone.“Grandmother, I’m..I’m,” he tried to speak.“Hold it,” she cut in with a strong tone and he was sent into silence.“What do you want me to do? You think I will continue to watch you trifle with my company?!” She barked.“Mother, I will..,” he tried to speak again.“What do you have to say?” Elsa cut in and she stood up immediately.“We’

FREEDOM
They both watched as she was brought into the visitors room with her face looking so pale. A wry smile broke on her dry lips as she saw their faces. “Lisa,” Toyosi cried in excitement as she was brought to the table. “Toyo,” she called wearily as she sat on the chair. “How are you?” Evan asked from where he sat. “Hmm, same as you guys left me,” she muttered plainly with her gaze on the table. “Lisa, you will be fine. Everything will work out in your favor,” Toyo assured. She smiled and looked up at her face. “I don’t know how long I can hold on,” she said wearily. “You will be out soon, trust me,” Evan assured. “How is my daughter?” She asked. “She is doing okay,” Toyo said with a smile. “I don’t know how to thank you both for all you’ve been doing for me and my daughter. I can’t thank you enough,” she said emotionally as she wiped the tears that trickled down her cheek. “Lisa, you don’t need to thank us. We are only doing what we ought to be doing,” she said with a smile
