Chapter 21
As the hours drew on, Gina tried hard not to look at the pile of clothes that had accumulated over time. Instead, she focused on the pretty dresses she saw and exploring the whole mall. It was like going to a mini vacation as they continued walking, and everytime she asked Henry if he was getting tired, he only shook his head and egged her on. Deep inside her, she didn't know why he seemed so chill and calm about everything. Even the money he was spending on her didn't appear to have an effect on him, and she had mixed feelings about it.On one hand, she wanted to pay for the clothes herself knowing fully well that she now had the money to spend. But then again, why not enjoy the care and free shopping while it lasted? In less than a year, she would be back to her own devices and it would be up to her to get things for herself. So, she decided to go with the latter and enjoy the day very well. Though, she tried her best to stop Henry from buying so many things but once she tested them

Chapter 22
Gina practically danced all the way home, even while things were once again quiet between her and Henry. She didn't want anything to dampen the mood of shopping and besides, she could hardly wait to tell her husband what she got him. More than once, she saw him looking at her with a frown on his face and Gina didn't need anybody to tell her that he was wondering why she seemed so happy. Instead of saying anything, she just gave him a smile and watched the streets as the day gradually turned into mid afternoon. They had been at the mall since morning, and apart from being happy, she was also tired. She had been trying on dressed all day, and her feet hurt because she also tried on a lot of shoes as well. That was not really the hard part for her, as she already had a clear idea of what she wanted and in which colour. What made it difficult was standing for minutes while everyone accessed her overall look, especially Henry. At a point, she began to feel like he was making her spin and t

Chapter 23
The next morning, Gina woke up to the consistent ringing of her phone and she groaned aloud in wonder as the saw the clock read four a.m. Who could possibly be calling her at that time, and the thought made her angry as her head began to ache. There were few things Gina hated more than being woken up before her usual time. As the first call ended, she went back to bed and tried to ignore the thought but almost immediately, the person.started to call again and she had to force herself to turn and pick up the phone. When she opened her eyes to look at the caller ID, they nearly bulged out in surprise. Ken was calling her, and from the screen, it seemed like the third time that morning. What could he possibly what to talk to her about? Her blood began to boil as she realized that he was probably the worst person to have disturbed her at that time. As the phone continued to ring insistently, she wondered what her ex boyfriend could possibly be up to. She had spefici

Chapter 24
Everyday, Gina tried hard to not see any new reason to dislike Henry, but she always outside her. Now that they were back at home, she wanted nothing more than to unwind and stay as far from him as possible. But apparently, he was also going to make that one hard. Even worse was how he thrust his life into her plans and stopped her from doing what she wanted. Before she even started arguing, she already knew he would bring up the issue of her being bound to him by a contract. Still, it didn't stop her from glaring at him with as much iciness as she could muster. "Why can't I go? What's your reason this time?" She questioned, walking further into the house followed by him and the guards who quickly moved to carry their things upstairs. It must not have been more than two seconds they used to carry everything and judging by the way Henry's eyes followed them, she was certain he was waiting for them to leave so he could say whatever was on his mind.

Chapter 25
As soon as they neared the event hall, Henry began to look outside discreetly to see if there was anyone he knew there. In truth, he knew more than half of them but if he had his way, he would certainly not be caught talking to them. The only reason he was going to the function, and most of all, even taking Gina along was because he knew the family lawyer would be there. Like his parents, the man had been clamouring for him to eat married for over five years. At just thirty two, he didn't see himself as ready for marriage yet they made it such a big deal. Now, he had make the choice of tying someone else down in the marriage sham. He glanced over at Gina who appeared to be awed by the flashy display of ornaments and decorations. To tell her that she looked dazzling in what she was wearing was something that would never happen, because though it made him extremely uncomfortable, he found things easier to deal with when she was angry at him than when she wanted to

Chapter 26
For a moment, Henry was too stunned to say anything. There was no way his mother could fully explained her words to him that he understood, because now he felt for certain she was only making excuses. How could she tell him that she wouldn't be able to give him control of the company and other properties until she was fully sure of the marriage? At this point, he could no longer understand and a part of him tried not to feel betrayed at their change of heart towards him. So instead, he shook his head and tried to ask her again. "What do you mean by that? Do you still think my marriage is a sham? You, of all people."His mother ignored his tone of voice and tried to laugh the seriousness out of the air, but Henry wasn't having it so she sighed. "You can't really blame me, son. You would do the same if you were in my shoes. Your father and I asked you to get married for more than five years, and after your realized we wouldn't give you the properties until you did so, you instantly foun

Chapter 27
Gina went into the event hall with a lot of things on her mind. On one hand, she was still reeling from the stress Henry put her through by making her cancel her date with her best friend. Yet, there he was, wearing the suit she got for him after he admonished her on getting him anything. To even think he told her he didn't like the colour and had so many others. Then again, she could tell that there was something on his mind but she didn't want to ask because she felt there wouldn't be a response. Above all, she just wanted to have a good night that was worth her while. So when they stepped in and she began to receive looks from everyone, she couldn't help but smile. She really liked being the centre of attention in a positive way, and if this was it, then maybe she would be able to open up at the party. She smiled as Henry clasped her hand and moved forward, greeting people along the way and introducing him as his wife to anyone who listened. Deep down, she kn

Chapter 28
For the first time that night, Gina felt at peace. There she sat, lamenting to her mother how her husband and his family demeaned her. While Henry acted like he had mood swings most of the time, his cousins were downright mean and insulting to her. She had no idea what they had been saying behind her back, and as at that moment, the only person she could remotely trust was Henry's mother. But even her affections weren't guaranteed as she had the suspicion that the woman still didn't trust them. If that was so, then she needed to keep the Thorn family at arm's length. As Gina talked, she watched her mother's chest go up and down in a steady moton. The woman was still unconscious and in a critical state, but according to the doctors, the worst was over. Now, it was just a matter of time before she woke up and thought she had been patient, Gina didn't know how much she could take. Her mother was her confidant, her go to person, even before her best friend. The woma

Chapter 29
The first thing Henry did when he got to his room was sigh. It had been a very long day which ended up being the opposite of the plans he made. Kicking off his shoes, he quickly ran a hot shower but it did nothing to calm his nerves and few minutes later, he stepped out still feeling restless. Just then, he heard the unmistakable padding of Gina's feet as she made her way to her room. He ignored it and looked in the mirror, trying to figure out why he suddenly felt restless. Though his wife came back late, he only started feeling like this less than an hour ago and he couldn't figure out why. Was it because he couldn't get total ownership of his father's properties? True, the negative response of the family lawyer and his mother overwhelmed him and made him mad, but he could move past it. After all, it wasn't like he didn't hold the second biggest shares in the company, and even if his father's best friend wanted to dominate them, it wouldn't be so easy. On his

Fifteen minutes into the run, Henry couldn't hold it anymore. He was very bothered by the silence from Gina's end and for some seconds, he turned to her, watching as she counted numbers in a low tone. He had been trying to get her to talk for some time, but each time, she shushed him and continued on. Gina gave him the impression she was still angry about last night's argument and he didn't know how to broach the conversation with her. So he continued to jog beside her, noticing how she seemed to move away even further. He hadn't wanted to go for a run that morning, as his initial plan was to sleep in and do some work later. However, he came out to see her looking quite different and withdrawn, so the idea instantly popped into his mind. He still felt bad about having to force her to tag him along, but he couldn't help it. If he hadn't done so, she might have come back more angry. But even now as the both of them were present, he still felt alone. The main issue was that he didn't kno
