Hunter’s POV We left from the packhouse an hour early, so we had time to stop at the site where my beloved mate lost her life. Beta Scott, Samantha, and I braved the steep hill to make it to the site where my people found the SUV’s charcoaled remains. Samantha placed the flowers on the ground near a rock formation I had placed here to make a memorial for Ella. Tears began to flow from Samantha’s eyes and Beta Scott pulled her into him to embrace her as she let herself grieve. I fell to my knees and touched the ground beneath me trying to feel her presence, but like all the times before I have been here, I couldn’t feel her here. It was like all her remanence of her being has disappeared and nothing remains of her. I felt a strong hand on my shoulder and looked up at Beta Scott and I could see the same sadness in his eyes.
