Alex looked around as he exited his hiding place. As soon as he heard the gunshot, he went into hiding. Trepidation overtook him as he watched from the window blinds of the building that he hid in.He could see Scarlett and he could see how much she struggled with her bleeding side. He looked at where the direction of the gunshot came from but he could not see anyone. When he was sure that it was safe, he came out and rushed to help Scarlett. He had only held her in her hand before she passed out. In a frenzy, he carried her in his arms and quickly got her into his car, and drove to the hospital. "Scarlett," he called out to her a couple of times but he could barely get a response out of her. She lay lifeless in his backseat, and he silently prayed that she was still alive. He looked at her side. It was still bleeding profusely and he knew that she was hanging on a very thin thread. He sped up and was soon at the hospital. The nurses came out immediately and she was put on a stretche

Alex rushed through his meeting with his new investors for his startup. He had taken so much time to prepare hard for the meeting, but thinking about Scarlett in the hospital, his attention span dwindled.Once the meeting had been concluded, he rushed to the hospital. The doctor had sent him a message that Scarlett was awake again. He had looked forward to it. She had collapsed into a coma for two weeks, and it was such a relief that he was finally awake. On his way, he thought of a gesture, something that would make her feel safe around him. He soon decided on some red and white roses he saw on his way, and he got them.Scarlett was sitting up when he got into the ward. The nurses were already attending to her, and when he walked in with the roses, she let out a small smile."How are you feeling?" He asked her calmly, silently praying that she had regained her memory. She only nodded and he was unsure of what to say next. He gave her the bouquet of roses he had gotten her and she sni

"Did they have any cheese while they were out?" He asked Daphne as they rushed the kids to the hospital. Lucas was driving frantically and Daphne silently prayed that they would get to the hospital in one piece."Are they allergic to cheese too?" Daphne asked him in surprise as she turned to look at the children. They were dehydrated already, and Claire was going unconscious. Daphne impulsively shook Claire so she would not fall asleep. Callan was barely awake too."Can you go any faster?" She asked him. Lucas dodged traffic immediately and sped up. He heard the police siren behind him immediately but he would not stop. He was almost at the hospital. He soon got to the hospital and pulled his children from the car and rushed in. A police officer followed after him."Good day Mr. Lucas," the police greeted in sudden recognition. He nodded as he handed Callan and Claire to the nurses."We are sorry we bothered you, sir," the officer continued apologetically. Lucas dismissed him with a

Lucas picked up his phone and hurried out of his office immediately to everyone's amazement. He got into his convertible immediately and sped off. He dialed Daniel who hesitated to pick up. Lucas thought he was avoiding him because of the hospital saga from a few months ago.He halted by the side of the road and sent Daniel a message immediately. My kids are missing.Daniel called back almost immediately and Lucas sneered. "Why could you not do something as simple as answering your phone?" Lucas began in annoyance. "I was waiting for you to come back to your senses first," Daniel replied. Daniel was the only one that dared to speak to him in that manner. They had been friends from their high school days, and when Lucas began hitting it big financially and needed maximum protection at all times, Daniel was his first chief bodyguard, before he left for the military academy."Let us face the matter at hand before we get carried away by our differences," Daniel added. Lucas was still si

Scarlett turned to leave before she heard Alex's study door creak open. She turned around immediately and he stood there, shirtless and leaning against the door frame with her note in his hand."This is a good start," he said calmly as he waved the paper in the air. She smiled. "I'm so proud of you. You are making so much progress in this journey," he added.Scarlett could not look past the kindness in his voice and the one his eyes held when he smiled at her. Everything he said was with so much intentionality that had allowed her to let go of the inadequacy that she had carried since her days at the hospital. She looked from his face to his tall, lean but muscular frame. His shoulders were broad and so was his chest. His slim torso disappeared into a pair of trousers that seemed too wide. They danced around his legs as he turned around to go put on a shirt. He soon walked out of the study with her. "So what do you intend to do with your cooking?" He asked her, even though he already h
