Donovan was threatened.Mayson pulled him down to his seat, giving him a cautionary look. At the same time, Yvan walked in as the doors to the private room opened, and the atmosphere changed with his arrival.Donovan stopped talking, while Yuna returned to her calm demeanor. When Yvan saw Yuna seated three seats away from the main seat, he frowned slightly. Once he took a seat, Mayson took a seat next to him with a smile.“Let’s start.” On Yvan’s orders, the servers brought in the day’s specials. “Please help yourselves. There's no need to hold back.”Hearing that, everyone forgot about the earlier incident and started to eat happily. Mayson poured a glass of wine and said to Yvan, “Mr. Jenkins, allow me to offer you a toast. I hope our partnership goes well.”Yvan raised his glass in response to Mayson’s, but his gaze was fixated on Yuna. She was on her phone the entire time, and his brows furrowed as he recalled her phone conversation this afternoon. Suddenly, Donavan confro

It was Yvan. Yuna frowned and declined his call before continuing her toast with the others. However, Yvan called her again. “What an annoying bastard,” she thought. She ignored his call once again and received a text immediately after.“Come out now if you don’t want me to make a scene at the restaurant.”Yuna really wanted to cuss him out after she read his text.Ashton noticed that something was wrong and asked her, “Is everything alright?”Yuna didn’t know why Yvan was deliberately causing trouble. She didn’t want to ruin the lively atmosphere in the room, so she answered, “Yeah, something happened at work and I need to go to the office right now. Zachary, Lucy, you two aren’t leaving yet, right? I’ll see the both of you again tomorrow.”Both Lucy and Zachary nodded in agreement and Ashton asked chivalrously, “Do you need me to drive you to the office?”“No, it’s fine.”Yuna hastily grabbed her coat and bag to leave and Ashton could not shake the feeling that something te

Yuna slumped exhaustedly on her sofa once she got back to her apartment, but she quickly composed her emotions and plastered a smile on her face to video call her two children. It didn’t take long for the children to pick up her call. Her smile widened upon seeing Natalie and Nathaniel’s faces on her screen. As expected, just seeing her children instantly brightened her mood.“Did you miss me?”Natalie nodded her head vigorously. “I missed you, Mommy! When are you coming back?”Yuna was also worrying about that. Right now, she couldn’t determine whether or not Yvan was the one who wanted her dead all those years ago, so now her whole plan had changed. She would definitely have to figure that out before the project ended, but she didn’t know how long that would take because nothing was set in stone yet.She offered the children a gentle smile. “I will try and finish up my work as soon as possible then ask for a month-long vacation so I can be with the both of you.”Natalie clappe

Herbert frowned at that. “Do you want the world to think that I don't care about my daughter? I would be the laughingstock of the world,” he protested.Cora chimed in as well. “Yuna, you’re not getting any younger. Why don’t you just settle for a job at your father’s company? You don’t need to have any special skills since you’re a woman and besides, the Feron family can pay for all of your expenses. You just need to settle for an easy and low-paying job that you can do to pass the time.”“Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m trying to say. What do you think?” Herbert agreed with Cora and looked at Yuna expectantly.Yuna quirked an eyebrow and said with a smile that didn't quite meet her eyes, “Just a low-paying job to pass the time? If I’m not mistaken, my mom has shares in the company as well.”Herbert’s face paled at that.Yuna continued, “Cora is right, I’m sure the Feron family can pay for all of my expenses. However, if I reclaim all of my mother’s shares in the company, I would be

Yuna tumbled painfully when she hit the ground. The adrenaline that shot through her, paired with the drugs that were coursing through her veins, made her whole body feel numb. She couldn’t even tell if she had broken any bones but she gritted her teeth and tried to stand. She didn’t expect to be completely lifted into the air by Yvan. She looked at Yvan and was stunned silent. Why was he here?He only asked, “Do you want me to escort you back inside or do you want to leave?”Though she was surprised by his sudden appearance, she knew that he was her only chance of getting out right now.“Escort me…to the hospital.”Yvan wordlessly carried her into his car and they sped away.Lester’s mind was blank as he watched Yvan’s car speed off from the balcony. He knew he was fucked but he forced himself to stand when he remembered who had orchestrated the whole thing. He stormed downstairs to confront Herbert.Herbert was still oblivious to what had just happened. So, both he and Cora
