CHAPTER 71

SELENA'S POV“What are you doing here again?I thought we'd come to an agreement before or is there something else you want to discuss with me?" Alpha Fred asked.“Yes, brother." I said.“Okay... Shoot then." He said.“Alpha Duncan went over to Alpha Fredrick's place after Alpha had agreed to the peace treaty. He said that Alpha Fredrick wanted to discuss with Alpha Duncan in person before he would consider the peace treaty." I said“Okay... And how did it go?" He asked me.“Well, Alpha Duncan said, Alpha Fredrick didn't agree to the peace treaty because something like this had happened in the past." I said."So he's worried that the agreement won't be upheld?" Alpha Fred asked, his brow furrowed in thought. "That's understandable, given the history."“He said that the rogue werewolves agreed to the peace treaty but later on breached the agreement and started a war." I said.“That means that they might do it again. They can't be trusted then." He said.“That's not what am saying, Fre

CHAPTER 72

SELENA'S POVI believe he can pull it off." I said.“I don't understand the blind faith you have in your mate. Because It might get him killed." He said."It's not blind faith," I said, my voice growing stronger. "It's trust. I trust him to make the right decisions and to do what's best for our pack. I know he's taken risks before, and I know he's always come out on top. He's not reckless, he's just...determined. He's not going to let anything or anyone stand in the way of what he thinks is right.""That's all well and good," Alpha Fred said, still sounding skeptical. "But I still think it's a risk."“It is a risk." I admitted." "But I think it's a risk worth taking. If we don't try to find a peaceful solution, we'll just be stuck in a cycle of violence that will never end. So someone has to make the first move toward peace, and I think that someone should be us. We have to be the bigger person and extend an olive branch. It might not work, but at least we'll know we tried." I sa

CHAPTER 73

ALPHA DUNCAN’S POV“Alpha Duncan what do I owe this pleasant surprise.” Alpha Rios asked.“I came to discuss a pressing matter with you.” I said.“Hmmm… and what could that be huh?” he asked.“It’s about the peace treaty.” I said.“Oh that. I have told Alpha Fredrick that I’m not interested in such. The rogue werewolves cannot be trusted and you and I know that I’m right about that.” He said.“I know but is going to war the answer?” I asked.“Ending their wicked ways is the only answer and if war is the way to end them, then we go to war.” He said.“Then what about the innocent people that would be affected by the war? What about our pack members and children? Don’t they deserve peace?” I asked.“I know that war isn’t always a good thing but we have endured the rogues for far too long and I think it’s time to end this once and for all.” he said.“What if peace treaty is the only way to end this once and for all?” I said.He smirked.“A peace treaty never works. The rogues might agree

CHAPTER 74

SELENA’S POVWe went down the den where we believed our father Alpha Gomez would have kept such an important file. When we got to the door of the den, it was locked.“How do we open it?” Alpha Fred asked.“Hmmmm… I don’t know, but maybe father gave us a clue just in case we could come here in search of the file.” I said.“Wait… so you mean that father knew that we might need the file one day and so kept it hidden because if other Alphas found out that he kept it, it could have become a problem?” Fred asked.“I think so.” I said.“And so the only way to find out is to open the door to the den and then search for the file.I believe that whatever happened many years ago that made the rogues breach the agreement of the peace treaty, father might know.” I said.“You’re probably right.” Alpha Fred said, his eyes lighting.“I bet there’s something in the den that will help us figure out what we need to know. We need to get in there and see what we can find.”“But how?” I asked, frustrated.

CHAPTER 75

SELENA’S POV“I need to return to the pack house and inform Alpha Duncan of my findings," I said.“So if the rogues were manipulated then, it means...." Fred said.“They were gonna be manipulateed again and what happened to the Alpha who wanted a peace treaty then could happen to Alpha Duncan," I said.“But who could that person be? Who could be the person who manipulated the rogues then?" Fred asked“Don't know but maybe Alpha Duncan would have figured it out.I have to return to the pack house and inform Alpha Duncan ASAP." I said.“Do you want me to come with you?” Fred asked.“I know I’m not a member of the pack, but I can help.”“I appreciate the offer, but I think it’s best if I go alone.” I said.“This is a delicate situation, and I don’t want to risk causing anymore problems.”“Okay, I understand.” Fred said, though he looked disappointed.“But I’m here if you need me. Just call me and I’ll be there, sister.”“Thank Fred.” I said, giving him a grateful smile. As I drove back t

CHAPTER 76

SELENA’S POV“So do you think Desmond would know about the peace treaty many years ago?I mean he wasn't born then and Drey is dead.So how are you gonna find out what happened many years ago?" I asked.“I don't know, but if he's doing the same thing his father was doing, then it means that he knows something and I intend to find out." He said“That’s a good point.” I said, considering the implications of what he was saying. “If he’s trying to start another war, it means he knows more than we do.But how are we going to get him to tell us?”“We’ll have to use some persuasion.” he said, his eyes hardening.“I have some ideas, but I’ll need your help.”“Of course.” I said without hesitation.“Whatever you need, I’m here to help.“I appreciate that.” he said, a small smile showed on his face.“The first thing we need to do is gain his trust.” he said, his voice thoughtful.“We need to make him believe that we’re on his side.”“But how are we going to do that?” I asked.“He’s been so host

CHAPTER 77

SELENA’S POV“So do when are you going to meet Desmond the leader of the rogues werewolves?” I asked.“Tomorrow.” He said.“I don’t think I need to go to my brother’s pack to find information about the Alphas who attended the peace treaty many years ago. I think I should just call him.” I said.“I don’t think calling would be the ideal thing to do. I think going there and seeing it for yourself is the ideal thing to do.” he said.“Alright then, I will go tomorrow as well.” I said.Just then, we heard a soft knock on the door and then Alexa entered. He bowed and then spoke.“How was your journey, Alpha? And yours our Luna?” he asked.“It was Uhmmm… revealing.” I said.“I found out that the rogues were manipulated by the other Alphas who were against the peace treaty.A letter was sent to the leader of the rogues explaining to him that the peace treaty was a trick to make them let their guard down so they could attack. So out of anger, the rogue leader assembled his rogue werewolves and

CHAPTER 78

ALPHA DUNCAN’S POVThe next day, I prepared my mind to go and visit the rogues to discuss the peace treaty and also to find out what happened many years ago during the first peace treaty.Hoping for the best. I decided that it was best I do this alone and not involve a lot of guards in order not to make them have the impression that I wanted war.As I got close to their hide out.As I approached the entrance of the forest, I could hear the chatter of voices in the distance. It sounded like they were in the middle of a heated discussion.I paused for a moment, wondering if it was a good idea to go in right now.I decided to inch closer, hoping to get a better sense of what was happening before making my presence known. I ducked behind a tree and peered through the branches.“Do you think they would keep their words and not start a war? We all know what happened many years ago and how most of us here lost our parents because they believed that those wicked Alphas wanted a peace treaty.

CHAPTER 79

ALPHA DUNCAN’S POV“Alpha Fredrick.” she said.“What? It can’t be. I mean Alpha Fredrick is like a mentor to me.” I said, still unable to believe it.“I know… your father realized it and so before he could do anything he got killed by him and blamed it on the rogues as well as Alpha Gomez.” she revealed.“So you’re telling me that my father didn’t die in the war, but was killed by another Alpha because he discovered the truth about the rogues?” I asked.“Yes… I only survived because I chose to stay with the rogues.” she said.“So all the lies that I was told then about the rogues being bad and dangerous and that any chance we get, we shouldn’t hesitate to kill them.” I said.“The rogues were victims just like you and me. They were manipulated into thinking that the other Alphas weren’t in support and were preparing for war.So the rogues striked first out of anger and resentment for them breaching the agreement. So when your father discovered that some of the alphas controlled by Alph

CHAPTER 80

ALPHA DUNCAN POVHannah took a deep breath, and I could tell she was about to reveal something important.“There is a prophecy that says the child of the darkest night will bring peace to the land. The prophecy was about you, Duncan.” she said.My head was spinning, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I was the child of the darkest night? The one who was supposed to bring peace? I didn’t know what to say.“How is that possible? I’m not even a rogue. And I don’t know anything about the prophecy.”“That’s true, but the prophecy isn’t as literal as it seems. The child of the darkest night doesn’t have to be a literal child, or even a rogue. It’s about someone who can bring peace to the land, by uniting the different packs and ending the cycle of violence. And you, Duncan, are the one who can do that.” Hannah said, looking at me with intense eyes.“How? I don’t even know where to start.” I said, feeling overwhelmed.“I’m just trying to bring peace among the packs for the way of violence
