After lighting the candles, Aaron came to stand beside me. He was so quiet and scared the shit out of me.‘’Why are you lighting candles? It’s still morning.’’‘’Oh, I uh.’’He laughed. ‘’You panicked.’’‘’I guess I did.’’‘’It’s fine, at least you know where things are in case of an emergency.’’‘’Yeah, do you think our parents are ok?’’ I asked.‘’I honestly don’t give a shit about Johnathan. He can drown for all I care.’’I glanced over at Aaron and saw that he was now angry.‘’I’m sorry if I upset you.’’He shook his head, ‘’that’s not it.’’He never told me the reason, but instead we sat in the tv room and watched movies. Turns out he was right, we do have much in common, because he chose action movies for us to watch.‘’You said we have a lot in common, how do you know that?’’‘’because of your locker and the things on your door.’’I had to think long and hard about that.‘’Oh, you mean the anime posters and those things.’’‘’Yes, not often do you find girls who are into those t

By Friday, the rain stopped, the place was no longer flooded, and mom came home. She hugged and kissed me. “Hey there. How was your week without any parental supervision? I hope you two didn’t break the house.’’I almost laughed and told her that we broke more than just the house, but instead I said. ‘’Yes, for the most part it was ok until Johnathan came home.’’‘’What? I didn’t know he came home.’’That’s odd, why didn’t Johnathan call mom.‘’I thought he did, I saw him on the phone and just assumed it was you.’’Mom switched the subject. ‘’He didn’t give Aaron a hard time did he?’’‘’No, we all stayed out of each other’s way.’’‘’Ok, that’s good to hear.’’Aaron came down the stairs and I could see that he was shocked to see mom.‘’Hey,’’ mom greeted him with a bit of hesitation.‘’Hey, how did you hold up during that freak storm?’’ Aaron asked. Both me and mom are shocked by that, this is the first time he had ever said a sentence to mom without mixing a little insult in it.I won

Mom did say a word until we got home, and for some reason, she pulled Aaron from school, and he was grinning the entire time.As soon as the front door closed, mom began."Three days, you got suspended for three days! Why were you even fighting with Christina? I thought you two were friends?""They aren't anymore," Aaron laughed, which passed mom off even more."Aaron, why don't you go to your room? Mia and I have things to talk about.""Before you get mad at her, just know that Christina deserved what happened to her. She wasn't a good friend to Mia."Mom turned to look at me, and I nodded.''What happened?" Mom asked."Well, you know how I used to complain that I had no friends? Turned out that was all because of Christina.""What do you mean?" Mom asked."She lied to me and everyone at school, telling them how I thought I was better than them, and that's why I never talked to them. While she was basically telling me the same thing.""How do you know all this?""Well, Aaron kind of

Later that day, my phone buzzed with a message. It was a text from Aaron, well, it was a long message which I didn’t want to read because I just didn’t have the courage to.I wanted to forget about Aaron and the way he made me feel.It took me a few hours before I had the balls to click on the message and read the long words. It was a story about when he just came here, here he felt about me and how I saw someone he couldn’t have. He also wrote that he wished we could relive the time we spent together and make it better from the start.I reread the message several times and cried until my eyes were burning, I hated that I felt like this and thought that maybe if I hadn’t fallen for him I wouldn’t be feeling this way now.A week later, I woke up one morning feeling sick. I threw up and felt weak afterwards and just decided to skip school. I made sure to send a message to Ellie, letting her know that I was home sick and would miss cheer practice. She sent back winky face.I spent the re

I was pissed at mom because she never pressed charges at Johnathan, he hit her and beat the shit out of Aaron because he was an old drunk.I sat there in station, listening to her recall what happened, she lied for Johnathan to save that man and I didn’t know why. She didn’t tell them he was drunk, and when I tried to say something, she made it seem as if I was a problem. She even lied on Aaron, which was much worse. She made Aaron out to be a problem child and that he started the fight.I guess the officers saw through the lies, because they said a child could only act like that when there are problems at home and from the look of things, Johnathan was the one to have provoked Aaron. When we got home, I didn’t even say a word to my mother, I only went upstairs and cried. There was a knock and mom came in.‘’What do you want?’’ I asked, not able to contain my anger.“I’m sorry about what happened, I don’t think you will understand it, but I was only trying to protect Johnathan. I didn
