“Don’t you defend Kaze anymore. I know what is going on in his head. He’s a nobody, a greedy, poor man who wants to leech off you. I thought he was not all that bad when he agreed to divorce you, but now he’s just trying to lure us into something bigger. “He had nothing to do with you anymore, yet he is here, at your company, trying to give you trouble.” Agnes was furious thinking about Kaze. She never thought her daughter would be this rebellious. Her daughter could have told her, and she could have gotten rid of Kaze for her, but it did not happen. She stubbornly blamed it on Kaze. “It’s not like that. Can you not distort the truth?” Darcy felt bad, especially when she saw Kaze, who stayed quiet. She did not know how to convince her mother. “How much do you want? Or what do you want? Name it and I will give it to you. You have to promise to stay away from my daughter! She’s beautiful and powerful; she should be with someone of her standards, not you! I won’t allow you t

Agnes was not aware of this, so she would not be coming to the office so often. Darcy was talking to Ricky while worrying about Kaze. She brought Ricky around the office and introduced him to the different departments. Ricky initially had concerns over the company’s performance, but after a simple tour, he realized he was being prejudiced. “I did some research on your company, and to be honest, it’s nothing stellar. The projects are limited, and they don’t seem promising, but now I realize a good boss can change a company’s fate.” He praised Darcy’s ability, which he believed she deserved. “Thank you for your kind words. Our company is doing okay. I did change things around here so that we can operate smoother, but the employees are great,” Darcy replied. As for what would happen from hereon, she had no control at all. As long as she remained with the company, she would do her absolute best to make it profitable. They toured around the office, chatting and looking aroun

Agnes was delighted by the praises. Although she was no stranger to praises, she was still surprised by Ricky’s smooth talk. She was always concerned about how she looked. She believed as long as she maintained her beauty and body, her husband would continue to love her and she could strengthen her position. To Agnes, the most important thing a woman must do is to look beautiful and please her husband. It was not necessary to work hard like her daughter, which put her on the opposite side of Darcy. A woman should just look pretty and take care of the family, but her daughter disagreed and ventured into the business world. Even though Darcy had made quite an achievement herself, her mother was still not satisfied. “Mr. Witterson, you are too kind with your words. I don’t know how to reply to you,” Agnes said with a bright smile. Despite the words being pure flattery, she accepted them happily. Darcy breathed a sigh of relief seeing how bright her mother smiled. At least

“This young man looks good and his status matches yours,” Agnes said, hoping to remind Darcy. She wanted Darcy to seize the chance and seduce him. Darcy never took her mother seriously until she heard her. She frowned. “This is your first day here. You don’t know anything, and you are trying to mess around? Ricky and Edmund aren’t that close, and his background is not as decent as you think. And, there’s no way between us,” she said seriously. Darcy knew her mother loved to mess around with her romantic life, and all the woman cared about was the man’s background, not her feelings. Her mother was so carried away by her selfish desires that she wanted her to marry as soon as possible. It was ridiculous and unreasonable. “I’m just stating the facts. He’s a good choice. He’s handsome and he’s clean. You should grab this chance,” Agnes said seriously, disregarding Darcy’s feelings and opinion. As long as she approved of the man, she would urge her daughter to approach him.

“He didn’t even say no, why are you so nervous? Kaze just finished work, and he doesn’t have anything to do. He doesn’t have a girlfriend either, so why not give us a ride?” Agnes said. She did not give Kaze a chance to reject her. Ricky smiled awkwardly at the side, not knowing how to react to the situation. He was helpless in the situation. “So, you are Kaze? The project manager? I heard Darcy praise you for your capabilities. I also know that Mr. Witterson signed the deal with you. “Why don’t you come with us? We can talk about the project along the way,” Ricky said, trying to ease the tension and the awkwardness. Ricky somehow felt that Agnes was trying to give Kaze a hard time. He did not know what happened between them, but he felt like he should step in. He was the main client after all, and he had the power to make requests. If it were a work-related request, he could ask Kaze to drive them to the restaurant, and it would sound a lot better than how Agnes put it.
