Eric's POV"Em, you do know you can't work while you're with me, right?"I felt a tug at my heart as she stared at me with a distraught face for a moment. Soon enough, her face contorted into one of disdain and rebellion."Excuse me?"I sighed, pressing my fingers to my temples to break the news to her in a light way."Everyone now knows that you're my wife. This would make almost everyone want to be associated with you, even if it is just to get to me. I want you to be cautious of those you talk to and those you work for. Not everyone is deserving of your attention, Em. You're my wife."She stared wide-eyed at me for a moment before erupting into scornful laughter, causing me to clench my palms into fists. What was so funny?"I find it funny how you think that the whole world revolves around you, Eric. I was your wife for the past five years, according to you, yet I've been going about my business fine—""Don't be silly, Em. We just announced it to the whole world a few days back. Ju

Emily's POV"....I don't give a damn that they're doing and stupid business together. Just ruin their relationship anyhow you can. I don't want Joanne interfering in my life anymore!"My heart skipped a beat from my position at the door as I stared at him. My eyes were wide in displeasure and annoyance. Was he indeed carrying out his threat not to let me work while I stayed with him?My heart sunk in my stomach, and I felt a rage overwhelm me like never before. All I could see was red."What the hell, Eric?!"His eyes widened, and his shoulders stiffened, like a child who had been caught doing something wrong."What are you doing here, Em.?" He questioned sheepishly, clearing his throat."Excuse me? Were you just discussing my life and my business without my consent?"What gave him the right to interfer with my personal life and business? How dare he think of ruining business with Joanne? No doubt, he really wanted me to succumb to his stupid ego and be that stupid woman who he cou

Eric's POVCaptivated by her enchanting eyes, I could not bring myself to break our eye contact.I was not surprised that she had gone ahead to work with Joanne despite my warnings. As a matter of fact, I was expecting her to do that.It still irked me that Joanne was back in our lives, but I decided to let Emily do her thing.I was still trying to get her to see that I had changed, and it would not be helpful if I kept trying to 'hinder her progress'.Within the little time I had spent with her, we had argued a lot, but what she did not know was that I was learning more about her day by day. That was how I knew that one way to get through to her was to not engage her in yelling sprees, but rather to speak softly to her as it had a way of calming her down.Yelling at her only made her lift her walls higher and higher."Why are you so tense, Em? I promise you that I would never do anything to hurt you," I spoke softly.I bared my emotions before her, just so she would trust me. Yet,

Emily's POV"Why are you bent on ruining me, Eric?" I asked him as he washed his face under the tap.Tears streamed down my face profusely as I questioned him, feeling my heart weigh me down.He had made me begin to see him in a different light since our steamy moment in the morning.I had never dreamt of him being so gentle with me after his brutality with me in the past years.Since that moment this morning, when I had decided to throw caution into the wind and give in to him, my whole body seemed to have been thrown into a state of disarray. I couldn't tell what exactly spurred me to do that. Peharps, it was the thought of Anna and how much I had been a bad friend, being envious of her love and relationship with Adrian. When Eric had treated me like a queen earlier in the day, putting my needs before his and pleasing me beyond my wildest imaginations, he had gained entrance into my heart slowly. It

Eric's POV As I worked, my eyes kept fluttering over to the clock, which hung on the wall.Collins had not gotten back to me with any reasonable lead or feedback. It almost drove me crazy. What exactly was Joanne up to? Why would she show up at my house naked and get someone to take a picture of us in a compromising position?I had a few ideas for the likely reasons she would do that, but I preferred to remain in denial of it than to bring it into reality by thinking that was why.Every notification on my phone had me rushing over to it, expecting a call from Collins, but they had turned out to be either business calls or messages.I growled angrily as I stood up and paced about for a moment thoughtfully.Joanne had to be stopped.I needed to get to the root of why she wanted to bring me down.I snatched my phone from the desk and scrolled to the last message she had sent to me back at Allura Gardens.I contemplated calling the number for a moment, but it was a private number.I bang
