A Plaything

"Congratulations, Miss Kings," Dr. Andrew said as he reviewed my test results. "You’re six weeks pregnant.""Six weeks pregnant?" I repeated in shock, trying to process the news. "Are you sure?""Yes, I’m sure," he confirmed with a knowing smile.I had known deep down that the possibility existed, considering my intimate relationship with Colin, but the reality of it still caught me off guard."If I may ask, the father here with you? If yes, he should be here as well."I shook my head slowly, "He's busy with work and couldn't make it today."Dr. Andrew sighed. "I see. Well, make sure you get plenty of rest, and remember to come for regular checkups for your baby's safety.”I nodded and accepted the test results, clutching them tightly as I left the hospital. Though the news came as a shock, joy now filled me. I smiled and rubbed what would eventually be a baby bump, already feeling a connection with the little one.Once outside, I reached into my bag and retrieved my cell phone to cal

The Accident

The hand I had held up to push the door open fell at Colin’s words. “A plaything?” I repeated in a whisper. I was nothing but a plaything to him? How could that be? My heart constricted, my love and commitment to him shattering in an instant. But that was just the beginning. I moved closer to the door, almost putting my ear against it. “I thought you were into her?” David said, though it was more of a question than a statement.“Yeah, as a sex toy,” Colin declared callously. “She thinks I love her, but she forced our relationship, I never asked her out. It was all on her. I played along and proposed to her because… well, I liked her as bed warmer.Colin's response, cold and devoid of remorse, struck me, each word like a stab in my heart. How could I have been so ignorant?Thank goodness I’d never told him who I was. He’d never connected my last name with the Kings’ group, either, so he knew nothing of my social status or my family’s wealth. The conversation continued with a female vo

Beep…..

Beep. Beep. Beep.My eyes fluttered open, and my ears were assaulted with the incessant beeping of machines. A sharp pain coursed through my head, and I cried out before pulling myself together. I mustered the strength to survey my surroundings. My eyes landed on my mom, sitting by my side with a warm hand on mine.“Sweetie, you're finally awake!” she said with a mix of relief and happiness in her voice. I lifted my eyes to hers, only to meet a sight that shocked me. My mom, who usually maintained a beautiful appearance, now appeared disheveled, with tracks of tears running down her cheeks. Still, she smiled. But then I remembered the most important thing and my hand went to my stomach without any further thought. My eyes grew wide as I looked at my mom once again. Her expression answered my unspoken questions before she even got the words out. “Don't be sad, Sweetie. You can try again.”“My baby?” I whispered, still touching my belly, wishing I could feel some sign of another life

Memory

After exchanging wide-eyed and shocked expressions with my mother, Lisa turned to me and said, “Colin is your fiancé, Selena.”My brow furrowed, and I peered at her quizzically as I tried, unsuccessfully, to recall someone named Colin. I shook my head slowly. “Doctor!” my mom screamed, scaring the hell out of me. “Doctor!”Lisa merely stared at me with a concerned expression. “You don’t remember?” she asked with hesitation. My mother rushed back into the room with a doctor in tow. “She can’t remember her own fiancé!”“It’s all right,” he said, patting her arm soothingly. “Memory loss sometimes happens with accidents, but it’s usually temporary. So let’s not rush to panic. Let me check her out, okay?” He peered at her with kind eyes. She nodded and her expression softened. “Okay.”The doctor approached me and asked if I remembered him. When I told him I did, he asked if I knew where I was before I found myself in the hospital.“I was...” I struggled to recall but couldn't.He asked

The Strange Man

Lisa scrolled through her phone until she found the voicemail I sent her. The recording played, and each word, each scream, sounded so painful. But I couldn't hear the words clearly. Still, I listened in stunned silence, grasping my chest as the sorrow-filled cries from the recording painted a vivid picture of the pain I felt at that time.“That was hell!” I gasped, my eyes wide. “Such a man doesn't deserve my love,” I said bitterly. “I'll make sure to avoid him in the future and start anew.”*******A MONTH LATERAfter a month in the hospital, I was finally discharged. My mom couldn't make it to pick me up, so Lisa helped me. “Let's go out and enjoy the evening, Selena.” Lisa suggested excitedly as we arrived home from the hospital.“I’d love that,” I said. “The hospital has been suffocating!” Although I wasn't very strong yet, I still needed some fresh air.We quickly got dressed and headed out a short while later. Soon after that, we arrived at a club named MX Bar/Club. Lisa took

A monster

The man stood before me, giving me a look I couldn’t understand.Jasper groaned, and I turned my attention back to him, offering a hand to help him up from the floor. “Are you okay?” I asked.“I'm all right,” he said, then groaned, placing a hand on his forehead. The man closed the distance between us. “Are you playing games with me, Selena?”“How do you know my name, and why you're addressing me so casually? Regardless, I want nothing to do with someone like you.”“Someone like me?” he repeated, frowning with his brow furrowed. “Yes, someone like you. A monster!” “Is this some kind of joke, or am I dreaming?" the man asked.“I'd wager you're dreaming.”The club had gone silent, all eyes fixed upon the standoff.“You're causing a nuisance here,” I yelled. “Just leave. Get lost!”I called out for bouncers, asking them to remove the unwanted intruder. Two large men quickly appeared on the scene. “Get this thing out of here!” I demanded, looking at the strange man with derision. He loo

"That's Colin Rogers"

Selena POVJasper and I had just exited the club, when he realized he left his car keys inside. I told him I’d wait for him there, while he went to retrieve them. As I waited, someone yanked my arm. I spun around to face my assailant, only to see it was the same man from earlier, his eyes ablaze with anger. I stared at him in shock, wondering what the hell he wanted.“I don't care why you've been acting like this, Selena,” he barked. “But you're leaving with me right now.”He gripped my arm tightly, pulling me closer as he towered over me. “Aren't you listening?” he spat.I felt so helpless, my body still weak from lack of activity during my month in the hospital, and this man wasn't giving me any breathing space. With a firm grasp, he dragged me with him. “Let me go!” I pleaded, attempting to break free from his iron grip. However, his hold remained strong. “I said follow me!” he yelled.I continued to struggle against him, but my efforts were futile. Desperately, I glanced back at t

Another Lady

"Really?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "But wait, why did I fall in love with someone like that?" I questioned Lisa, still confused. Lisa chuckled. "Well, like you always say, you were in love, and love is blind – literally, you were blind, or perhaps you chose to be blind even when everyone advised you otherwise," I recall all what had happened, since I met Colin again at my discharge party and I shook my head, "I must have been insane," I whispered to myself. "Look," Lisa stated urgently, her finger pointing towards the television screen. Immediately, my eyes snapped up to the TV where IMG models were advertising their upcoming modeling audition, the screen filled with images of runway shows and stunning photoshoots. "Will you be going?" Lisa asked curiosity. "I definitely would," I declared aloud, excitement bubbling up inside me. In a rush I reached for a nearby stack of paper, as I jot down all the things I needed to prepare for the audition. "It's actuall

Lost her memories?

"What? Lost her memories?" I asked, looking at Lisa, who simply nodded in response. And then I smirked "Lost her memories? Is this some kind of soap opera? Where's the camera? Tell me!" I said in anger as I took a few steps towards Lisa. "If Selena lost her memories like you said, then why did I see her talking and dancing with Jasper like an old friend, and then suddenly she can't remember me at all... like seriously? Selena met me first before she met Jasper, and now she remembered Jasper and chose not to remember me. Does that even make sense to you right now?" I yelled frustrated. "All I want to know right now is where Selena is, we have a lot to talk about," I said to Lisa. "I don't know where she is, all I know is she isn't at home," Lisa stated, her tone reflecting her stubbornness. Lisa's reluctance to cooperate only fueled my determination to find Selena. I scanned the room, my eyes searching for any clue that could lead me to her. That's when I noticed a crumpled piece

Dark Trauma

Selena POV With the last strength in me, I pushed Colin away as soon as I opened the door and hurriedly bolted the dressing room door. Gasping for breath, I staggered over to the couch and lay on it, holding my aching belly. "It hurts," I managed to whisper through clenched teeth, the memory of losing the baby and the pains I felt after still fresh in my mind. I could hear Colin's voice from the other side of the door. "Open this door, Selena! You can't hide from me forever," Ignoring his threats, I focused on my breathing, controlling the pain . Each breath felt like a small victory. I felt exhausted, I whispered to myself, "I will survive this. I must.” I lay there, trying to steady my breathing and ease the pain, but then my eyelids grew heavy, and my vision began to blur. ****** I gradually opened my eyes to see everywhere dark. "Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed as I searched for my phone in darkness. I found it, switching it on and I realized that my battery was down to a mere 3
