Mickey's POV“Kendrick!” I yelled, amidst the mocking laughter he and Kiara shared.“I will call the lawyer to hasten the process so we can get this done with.” He said without a hint of emotion in his voice, and holding Kiara by her waist, he steered her towards the telephone. The conversation was swift but with each word that spewed out of his lips, I saw my life shattering in front of me.Even the baby couldn't save our marriage and sobbing uncontrollably, I began to tug my hair as I hit my chest.Though this wasn't my first betrayal, but this was the first that shattered me to this point and it was definitely going to remain stamped in my memory.Never for once had I imagined that Kiara of all people was going to betray me and she was unapologetic about it.“My lawyer will fax in the papers soon, get ready to sign it.” Kendrick broke into my line of thoughts, only to return his attention to Kiara, who had her head against his chest. While all these went on, I kept begging, hoping

Mickey's POVClicking glasses with my staff, I had a bright smile on my face as my heart bubbled with joy.My company had just completed a fashion event that earned us the fifth spot in the whole country. It was worth celebrating.“We are just getting started; get ready for more groundbreaking records,” I said at the top of my voice, and my words were reciprocated with cheers from my staff. My fashion industry was just two years old, yet I had been able to make a name for myself. It was never all my efforts alone; it all spanned down to the support that I received from my staff and, most especially, Lugia Dimitri, my sponsor and savior. After my divorce from Kendrick five years ago, the first thought that came to my mind was to terminate my life and that of the child growing inside of me, but fate had a different plan.Just when I was about to jump off the cliff, a stranger held me from behind, giving me a second chance at life. Those few minutes which we had spoken were forever going

Kendrick's POVIt looked like I was dreaming, but I wasn't. Instead, it was reality. If told I was going to run into Mickey someday, I wouldn't have believed it a bit.“And she hasn't lost her touch; rather, she is radiating,” I muttered, only to shake my head sideways, trying to get the thoughts about her off.I was supposed to be mad at her for acting as a bridge between me and my inheritance but here I was, drooling over her shamelessly.Digging my hand into my hair, I pulled out my laptop only to turn it off the next second.Through the intervention of my father's lawyers, whom he quickly withdrew from the case, I was able to silence the consumer who wanted to wreck my business.Even after doing this, my company was still struggling, making me lose interest in work. Now drumming my fingers against the table, I had my gaze fixated on Cassie's picture on my table.Apart from her, I had no reason to keep struggling with work. I would have quit a long time ago.Kiara was nothing but a

Mickey“Damn it!”I almost grabbed a glass close to me, preparing to smash it into the wall. Then I remembered that my daughter was here with me. What have I done to deserve this kind of embarrassment that I was getting? I wanted to send a message to my assistant, but what was I going to tell her?The only thing that I could do was rant. While I was still pacing around, hitting the wall with my fist this time. Kendrick's message came and my anger rose up again. “Why is this son of a bitch texting me? I guess he must have seen what is circulating around the blogs,” I muttered angrily at myself. My hands trembled as I read his message, his words felt like a hot slap across my face:"We need to talk. It’s about Kayden. Call me."I slammed the phone onto the table and my breathing became sharp. “This was not about the blog post after all. It's about my child. He has the guts to text me. This man must be out of his mind. I think I could advise him to see the psychiatrist.”He wants to

Kendrick“Tick, tock. Tick, tock.”The clock kept ticking off slowly as I stared at it weakly. Life was supposed to feel perfect by now.At least, that was what I had convinced myself when I left Mickey. I thought I was making the right decision for myself and for my future. She didn't deserve to be in my life but as I sat in the dimly lit living room, listening to Kiara yelling at our nanny for forgetting to warm the baby’s bottle, all I could feel was regret. Regret kept creeping up on me, making me feel like a mad man. Was I thinking this way because I set my eyes on her at the event and she refused to give me an audience?I could not tell. But, Mickey had grown so much that she now had the guts to put me in a place that I don't belong..“Do you even know how to do your job? Don't let me regret hiring you. I pay you well for this!” Kiara’s voice rang through the house as she stormed into the room. Her heels clicked against the smooth floor as she held tight our Cassie. The nanny
