"Do you guys work so much everyday?" He asked as exhaustion made his eyes droop. "This is nothing compared to other days when we have offers and discounts. We open 24x7 during Christmas and other holidays too." An employee said like it was nothing. "Jesus. I will disappear if I work so much. You guys are amazing." Falcon while blowing out air wearily. "You're born with a silver spoon, Falcon. This will always overwhelm you." Birdie chuckled. They were talking like old friends. The workers had accepted him like he was one of them. Jasmine smiled in contentment before she patted Falcon's back. "You worked hard today. Let me treat you to lunch today. Come on." She said, and all of them hurried out.The night sky was full of stars and the air was slightly cool. Jasmine took them to a certain street, and Falcon's eyes widened. "We're going to eat here? It's so...." All the eyes turned to him with a glare, daring him to say something bad. "Cozy."They smiled and Falcon let out a s

Kyle's POV The sound of gleeful laughter and cutlery clinking on the plate was echoing in the air when I forced my way into Vince's father's house. They were settled around the huge dining table. There was Vince, his father Brad, biological mother Amelia, and stepmom girlfriend Lucy. "What's going on?" Brad Garrison saw me first and furrowed his brows. But my eyes were fixed on his son. I pulled Vince off the table and threw several punches on his face. "Son of a bítch, you promised me. How dare you go against your words?" I raised my fist to hit him again when someone grabbed it. It was Brad. He yanked my arm back and scowled at me. "What's going on here? Why are you beating my son?" "Ask him! I gave him his dream deal and he's paying me back with dishonesty." I yelled and Brad grimaced at his son. "What is he saying, Vince? What did you do this time?" Vince widened his eyes and shook his face, "I have no idea, dad.""Kyle Panther, right?" His father turned to me. "My s

Jasmine's POV Seeing my wide eyes, he explained further, "You had severe blood loss and on top of that your body was forced into shock by what happened before that. In such cases, the brain sometimes shuts down to protect itself. It slips into a coma to preserve vital functions, and it completely depends on the brain when it wants to wake up. So you see, we've been very depressed. Kyle hadn't been acting like himself. He was... It's... It's difficult to explain. I would suggest you see it yourself."He stepped out of the room and sent Kyle in before I had time to recover. I wanted to say no but now Kyle was standing in front of me, disheveled and teary-eyed. A heavy numbness spread in my chest as my heart slowed down. What has he done to himself? He doesn't look like the Kyle I know. He has grown a beard and hair. His clothes are creased and improper, indicating he hasn't changed in days. He has a kind of dullness in his eyes that was amplified by the tears. "How are you?" He s

Jasmine entered her room with that heavy feeling in her chest. She thought of all the worst things that might have come to overwhelm Kyle. She also imagined him as a little boy in a dark room, sobbing in a corner. Then she saw a woman with a wicked grin that opened the door, filling the room with light and causing that little boy to pull a hand across his face. Jasmine gulped as her mind compelled her to see the woman producing a stick. She grinned, ready to assault the poor boy. The little boy peeked through his fingers and shivered. Jasmine immediately distracted herself. She looked around and named five tangible objects in the room before she entered the balcony. She described how the night sky appeared... A technique her mother taught her to distract her mind and bring her focus back. The images were disturbing, though. And perhaps that's how it happened. Jasmine had heard that monsters aren't born. They are made. And perhaps Kyle's stepmom made him the way he was today...

She covered her head with a shower cap and allowed herself to take a body shower. She was so severely spent today that she didn't even have the energy to dry her hair. Not that it made any difference because in the morning she had to shower again to go to work. This seemed better even. After deciding that this is how she was going to keep her bath routine, she came out after removing the shower cap. Jasmine sat on her side of bed at the edge. She was wondering about Kyle. 'Forget it, Jasmine!' She was annoyed beyond the point of tolerance. She pushed the blanket apart to sleep in it and leaned down. She felt a body beneath her and suddenly sat up straight with a yelp. She reached out for the button of the lamp. "Jesus! Who is..." Jasmine trailed off as the light filled the room dimly. Her body kind of stuttered as her eyes focused on Kyle's gorgeous face. He was sleeping on her side. He was on his belly and holding a pillow under his arm. His silky hair caught the light in th
