POV: Ethan “She left boss, she took a flight out of the country and she left under an alias just to hide her trail. I lost her when she went into the airport, she switched her disguise and got lost in the crowd. I tried checking the boarding passes, but none looked like her.” Carl reported, sounding angry and frustrated. I laughed as he explained everything he did, how he had to review the cameras on the terminal as they boarded the plane. “Let her go, Carl. I’ll find her myself.” I told him, surprising him with my response. I guess he was expecting me to flare up or make him review the cameras one more time. But I can’t be chasing after someone who doesn’t want to be found. All I can do right now is to protect the people I care about, starting with Harper. We are heading back home and I should be excited to tell Emma that we save her family’s house. But I can’t even think straight, let alone thinking about Emma and the stupid house. I keep imagining how Harper would feel when she

POV: Ethan I saw the message pop up on my screen as Justin drove us to his house. It was a message from Carl and it says that Liam was spotted at a restaurant in town with Kate, Harper’s best friend. I wanted to call back and ask him more questions about his visit, but we were too busy figuring out what to do with Emma. So I waited until she was taken into the lab for Justin and his team to begin working on her. I did not leave immediately, I was asked to wait A while because I have been exposed to thallium as well. I was with her all this while, and it is said that a person poisoned with thallium can potentially contaminate surfaces, objects, or even other people through bodily fluids like saliva, sweat, urine, or through direct contact with their skin. The time I carried her to his hospital, the times we were together when I comforted her when she cried, and even when we pretended to be back together to draw Serena out. I was getting poisoned with Thallium and I had no idea at al

POV: Ethan “Okay, fine. Fire away, what do you want to know?” He asked me with a serious look on his face, pretending to be serious again. I scoffed, looking away for a few seconds and then looking back at him.“Fine, you want to play games with me, you want to be sarcastic?Cool!Let’s play games, bring it on, asshole, bring it on!” I told him angrily, pushing everything on my table away as I glared dangerously at him, wishing to hell that Harper would just see him for who he is, a bloody backstabbing bastard with evil intentions.“No, Ethan, I’m not playing games this time,I really mean it. Ask me anything you want to know and I’ll be so glad to give you the answer that you deserve.” He told me, smiling warmly, almost fooling me, again. I should have known that he was just fooling around when he told me that he will give me the answers I deserve and not the answers that I need. “Where is my wife, and how is she?” I asked him again, keeping calm. He smiled brightly, and made a hand

POV: Harper “Why are you doing this, Ethan, why did you have to show me that video? Is it not enough that I am hurting everyday without my husband by my side, is it not enough that I am far away from the one person that means the whole world to me?” I asked him, sobbing as he showed me the news on his tablet, showing be videos of Ethan and Emma and that of him and Serena too. It hurts to see that he is not sensible enough to shield me from things that would cause me pain and make me cry. “You promised to take care of me and protect me, Liam. Why are you showing me these things that you know would hurt me, why are you being insensitive to my feelings?” I sobbed replaying the videos to see if they are real or edited. “I’m sorry, Harper. I just wanted you to see him for who he truly is. I wanted you to see that he is lying about his relationship with those ladies. I wanted you to see the truth for yourself.” He responded, trying to pull me into his arms for comfort. I shrugged him of

POV: Harper “Liam,” I finally manage, my words sounding foreign to me.“I had no idea you felt this way. I thought we were just... close friends. I never wanted to hurt you, I promise. I would have given you a chance if you had come to me before Ethan did.” I lied through my teeth. I have never liked him that way and I would probably have refused his request even if Ethan was not in the picture at that point in my life. His expression softens, vulnerability mingling with hope. The trust I see in his eyes made me feel so guilty about all this as if it were all my fault.“I’m not asking for anything right now. I just needed you to know. Just knowing you’re aware of how I feel is enough for me, at least for now.” He told me, smiling warmly. I responded with a fake smile as I nod slowly, the reality of his feelings settling around me like a soft blanket. The moment we pretended to be couples must have been a trick to get me to loosen up around him. So many pieces are finally clicking in
