Danica's POV I swear, I didn't mean to make him feel guilty by crying right now. But I couldn't help it. Thinking about it all over again made it impossible not to cry.I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he did that, knowing I might probably never acknowledge the mate bond, yet he doesn't even regret it. I wasn't the one that teetered on death's bed hours ago but I'm the one crying like I'd just narrowly escaped death itself. After what seemed like an eternity, I succumbed into his embrace. My hands slowly curled on the sides of his shirt, holding him to myself as I let the sobs do their thing, until they subsided."Shh, baby. Please forgive me" he cooed, caressing my cheeks right after wiping the last waterfall off my face. Before I could think about anything else, he'd already scooped me into his arms and then he led me towards the bathroom."How about a soothing bath after all those tears and emotions?" He muttered and I blinked in disbelief."We're having a bath tog

Danica's POV Alexander could be right. But I knew there was more to the bracelet than just being an emotion reflector.Mom clearly said I should never take it off unless I've found someone I could trust with everything I had, because it's the only way I'd be safe. At first, I thought she said that to scare me in case I ever thought of breaking the promise we made. But now, I'm beginning to think there's truly a mystery behind the bracelet and maybe just maybe, Mom wasn't just trying to scare me. For someone who just went to get the door, it sure took Alexander a while to come back. I was beginning to think he'd left for some business whatsoever and probably forgotten that I was still here. But the moment I tried to stand up to head for the door, I saw him walking back from the entrance."Who was it?" I asked before I could stop myself.I didn't mean to ask, my curiosity just couldn't let me off without getting an answer."Blake" he said and I nodded once."Something important?" I as

Danica's POV We remained in that position for what seemed like an eternity and my legs began to ache at some point but I soothed myself with the fact that her arrogant smirk was fast dissolving into an angry glare.Great. We were both displeased by the turn out of things right here, but neither of us was ready to let go of the lingerie.I wasn't one to fight over inanimate things, and honestly? I could have let it go if she didn't have that stupid 'Goddess of all bitches' look on her face in the first place. All she had to do was send me a pleading glance or ask nicely and I would have let it go even if it means regretting my decision later but right now, I've made the point that regretting my decision later because of a wench like this one, will be a waste of my time."Get your filthy hands off the lingerie, I got it first!" She muttered in a high-pitched tone that drew attention to us immediately. She wanted attention? Then she would get it in full stacks. I don't care who the fuc

Danica's POV I couldn't bring myself to go back to that dining hall, face Alexander and pretend like nothing happened in the restroom, so I went back to my room without so much as a second thought. And I hated to admit it, but I wasn't nearly over my insecurities and somehow, they'd kicked in really hard after hearing about a betrothal I knew nothing about.A very rational part of me wanted to think that the betrothal; if it were ever true, could be just an act of pure business. Pack to Pack alliances of the sort. But another part of me, the one that had my brain and heart in wraps could only feel hurt. Not anger, not a need to flare or a need for accusations. Just pure, unfiltered hurt that I couldn't control. So I shut myself out. Slept through the night without getting anything decent for dinner. The planned dinner turned out to be a disaster anyway. So when Jasmine knocked on my door, sometime around 10pm? I told her to leave because I wasn't hungry. And I truly wasn't. Not last

Alexander's POV "I wasn't thinking about anything..." Danica muttered, but her fluttering eyes and the color in her face gave her off. I would love to tease her more but she needed to rest. I would hate to see those ugly eye bags tomorrow morning."Fine, I'm not arguing with you, but we have to go to bed, now!" I muttered, sternly, striding to the other side of the bed to grab her hand. Then I pulled her along with me, regardless of the resistance she tried to put on."Wait. But we don't have to sleep together since we're not doing anything, anyway..." She tried to convince me but I wasn't having it."Unless you're disappointed that I'm not going to touch you tonight, Dani, then you shouldn't argue with me on this one. It is pointless through and through" I said and that did it. She went silent. Her resistance reduced, though not completely, but relatively. Just enough to make me understand that she's just going with me because I was giving her no choice than getting embarrassed. As
