Lahat ng Kabanata ng Secret Marriage To My Brother's Best friend : Kabanata 261 - Kabanata 270

TrevorGracie is the only thing I think about. After my outburst in the kitchen, my friends and I decided to spend the night playing video games and drinking. It’s a usual boys' hang-out theme, and I prefer to have their company around tonight because it’ll help distract my thoughts from the woman driving me insane in the next room.My boys are enjoying the game while we’re in the living room, and I’m nursing my can of soda, watching them play while trying to analyze my thoughts.I never should have told her about my parents, I think with a deep sigh. I’ve never wanted Gracie to see me as weak or broken. Now that she knows about my past, she might think I’m living with a deep scar in my heart. I’ve never wanted her to see me as weak or broken, so I’ve never explained this to her.The truth is, my parents lived their lives and made their mistakes. I don’t intend to make the same mistakes and allow myself to experience the same hurt my mother endured. My fear constantly nags me. What if

Our gazes merge into one and for a second while he stares at me, it feels like he would say something, but instead, he moves, wraps his arms around me, and brings me close to his chest for a hug.I stiffen at first, unable to move as I’m pressed against his chest. Trevor smooths a hand down my back, then over my hair, and presses me close to him for a long time. He shocks me when he presses a kiss to my forehead, and his lips linger for longer than a moment. The insanely tender gesture leaves me with a flutter of hope in my heart. A part of me wants to believe that all of this means he has feelings for me. Eight years ago, I believed he did, but I was wrong.Being in his arms now makes me hope that it’s different this time, and I cling to that tiny shred of hope even though there is a great chance that Trevor will never care for me in the same way.***A week later, we’re at another interview with the popular sports media team, and Trevor is the life of the show. The audience applauds

GracieTrevor leans towards me till I feel his weight on my shoulders, and we’re both quiet as I lead him to his room. Then I help him sit on the bed first before letting out a deep breath.“Thanks,” he whispers, grabbing my wrist just as I turn away from him. He stirs me to face him again, and I lick my lips before meeting his gaze. “Thanks for everything, Gracie,” he murmurs. “I mean it.”There’s nothing I can say to him at that moment as our gazes linger. My heart thuds so fast, my lungs can’t keep up, and the swoony feeling that clouds my judgment each time he’s near worsens.“I’ll make us something to eat,” I say through the lump in my throat, then slowly peel my hand out of his.Minutes later, while I’m in the kitchen, Trevor limps in slowly and pulls out a chair for himself.“You’re supposed to keep your weight off that leg,” I scold in a light tone, shaking my head when he flashes me a cheeky grin. “Don’t play cute with me. You should obey your doctor’s instructions so you get

Zane drives Gracie off to the airport the next morning, and we don’t even say goodbye before she leaves. I’m in my living room after that trying to catch up on the game, but the silence in the air torments me, and I can’t bear it.It’ll pass after a few days. When I first left Golden Bay, I thought about her all the time. Not a single day passed without me missing her, but I got over it in the end. I’m sure it’ll be the same thing this time.My doorbell rings later that day, and I expect to see Zane on the other end when I limp over to open it.“You’re in so much trouble, trust me,” Jace says the moment I open up, and he flashes the bottle he’s holding at me.“What are you doing here?” I question once I let him in. We haven’t spoken since the last time we fought in Golden Bay, and this is the longest we’ve spoken since we first became friends in high school.“Where’s my sister?” he asks once he enters the house. It’s not Jace’s first time visiting me in New York, and so he leads the w

TrevorThe pang in my head is too intense to bear, and it leaves me with a parched feeling in my throat. I realize after sitting up on my bed that the constant ringing in my ears is my alarm.Shoot! I’m late for my game.I scramble out of bed and head for my shower quickly. Jace is in the living room when I head out, and he looks at me briefly before shaking his head. It’s only been two weeks since Gracie has been away, and my life is a mess.“You okay, man?” he asks. “Sure you can make it for the game in time?”“I need to make it,” I answer, heading for the door. The only thing that keeps me sane since Gracie left is the game. On the court, I can forget all my worries and indulge in the rush of the game that exceeds every other feeling.I have to meet with the rest of the team in about thirty minutes, and we’ll have a little practice pump before the main game tonight. It’s not a major practice, but it’s a way for our coach to hype us up for the big night.“I’ll come watch you tonight
