EMILY’S POV The ringing wouldn’t stop. It roared in my ears like a raging storm, loud, unrelenting. I couldn’t hear anything else. Just the high-pitched, agonizing whine that pierced through my head and made the world around me spin. My vision blurred. Shapes turned into shadows. Faces blended into a palette of confusion and movement. I felt detached, like my body was standing in the room, but my mind was drifting far, far away. Then, a hand touched me.
